Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Guy vs Velzard

Guy teleported back to his palace on the Northern Continent. As soon as he materialized, his subordinates, Rain and Misery, instantly appeared before him. They bowed deeply.

"Guy-sama, welcome back. We hope your fight went well," they said in unison.

Guy nodded. "The fight did go well," he replied, a fleeting memory of the struggle with Ivarage crossing his mind. He then addressed Misery. "While I was gone, what did both of you accomplish?"

Misery immediately began her report. Guy-sama, while you were away fighting Ivarage with Origin-sama, Rain and I, with our forces, took control of a great power. We defeated local gods, demons, and majins, and steadily gained recognition. I also began to infiltrate human society and engage in espionage. By scrutinizing the information I obtained, I was able to uncover those who needed to be purged for our work to be done more efficiently. The purpose was to create a sense of tension in human society by instilling a moderate level of fear. So by this time, The 'Demon Lord' was established completely as a system. She added, The people killed by our demons were those who wanted to start more wars for resources and wealth.

Guy's expression was completely normal. "It seems you both did your work well while I was gone. It seems you both are competent."

"Thank you for your praise, Guy-sama," Rain and Misery replied with a smile on their faces, bowing again.

Having nothing pressing to do for the time being, Guy settled in to practice, focusing on manipulating StarDust more efficiently and effectively. After a few days of practice, a scroll appeared before him in a burst of flames, containing the list of materials Origin required.

As soon as Guy read it, he erupted. "Damn! Does that bastard think I'm that rich? Why the hell does he need ten tons of Magisteel? Does this guy even understand how much that will be? And why the hell does he need twenty tons of Orichalcum? Does this bastard even know what that is?" Guy exclaimed. It is an extremely valuable gold-colored alloy created by combining Magisteel with gold, far superior to Magisteel in all aspects. It can be used to create God-grade and Legend-grade equipment, and that bastard wants so much raw materials, and in tons, too! he expects me to pay for all of that, does he think I am that rich?

He looked at the third material, which simply read: A broken core of a burning star. Guy finally exploded. "That lazy bastard Origin wants me to go into the universe to collect the core of a burning star!" He is definitely taking revenge on me for having him to do work.

He took a deep breath, calming himself. If it helps me ease my Mediator work, then I can consider doing it.

He called out to Rain, who instantly appeared and asked what had happened. Rain thought, I'm done. Did Guy-sama catch me slacking off or telling Misery to do everything? I'm done for.

She looked at Guy for the answer. "Rain, go bring or buy these materials," Guy instructed.

"What materials do you want, Guy-sama?" Rain asked happily, relieved she hadn't been caught.

"Ten tons of Magisteel and twenty tons of Orichalcum."

Rain was instantly shocked by the quantities. "Guy-sama, why do you need so much Magisteel and Orichalcum, that too in tons?" she asked.

"That bastard Origin asked for this, saying, 'If you want me to build you the world-wide monitoring system, you need to provide me with the materials yourself,'" Guy explained.

"But Guy-sama, we currently don't have that much material. We only have five tons of Magisteel and five tons of Orichalcum," Rain reported.

Guy pondered this. "Then go find or buy the other materials. Understood?"

"Understood, Guy-sama," Rain said, quickly leaving thanking God Veldanava that Guy-sama didn't catch her slacking off.

Guy came out of the palace, wondering where he should begin his stellar journey for finding a star, when the challenge arrived. A white dragon appeared, challenging him. It was a beautiful dragon with blue diamond eyes. He didn't know what she misunderstood, but her first words were belligerent:

"My brother and Origin may approve of you, but I don't!"

And then she attacked Guy.

Guy had learned his lesson from before and understood how to choose his battles so that the destruction would not damage the world. Nevertheless, the dragon sent a blizzard of ice and snow above the castle. At this point, there was no time to worry about the damage. Those who survived had already evacuated, and the castle could always be rebuilt. Misery and her subordinates would have a difficult time, but that didn't matter to Guy.

Guy was frustrated because the battle with Ivarage, the World-destroying Dragon, made him realize that he needed to grow even more powerful. Guy understood that with the appearance of a new enemy like her, he was in a high mood. Wanting to have some fun, Guy took this opponent seriously. He already knew who she was: Velzard, the Frost Dragon, younger sister of the Star King Dragon Veldanava. The fact that Origin talked about her meant she must be powerful, so Guy grew excited for the battle.

Velzard, wanting to be recognized by her elder brother and her friend Origin, challenged Guy out of jealousy—a man they both praised so highly.

As the battle began, Guy was engaged in a prolonged aerial battle against Velzard. But there was no fatigue, because neither of them was serious. Velzard then unleashed a White World attack. All the living demons in this land that had not evacuated, including the plants and trees and everything in the area, were turned into ice statues at the very beginning. Velzard kept attacking Guy with a bewitching smile. It was all child's play, but because the magical energy she put into it was enormous, it was dangerous for Guy to let his guard down. And so, even though Guy didn't need to go all out, he couldn't just ignore Velzard's every move. Despite this, Guy was beginning to enjoy this battle, and so was Velzard, though she didn't show it, as there were very few beings that she could open up to.

Both sides were probing, trying to figure out each other's hidden abilities, and gradually increasing the power of their techniques. Attacks aimed at fatal wounds were occasionally mixed in, but both sides, being highly experienced, could easily avoid them. Plus, since Velzard was trained in fighting by Origin, the attacks were instantly seen through, rendering them ineffective.

Velzard is currently the strongest True Dragon next to Veldanava. She can endlessly generate magical energy within her body, rendering the concept of a war of attrition meaningless. Strictly speaking, a specific condition is required to become invincible. That was precisely what would complete the White Sealed World: the Frozen World, Eternal World, frozen by the Mana Blizzard. In this space where ice and snow rage, Velzard's mana circulates endlessly. Velzard did this because, while fighting Guy, she knew he was as strong as her, or deep down, she knew perhaps even stronger than her. After all, she knew that Guy and the Primordial Angels went to fight Ivarage the World Destroying Dragon while she watched over the world. So, she used this move so that she could win, because she knew the rate of recovery surpasses the rate of consumption; it effectively achieves an inexhaustible supply of magical power. She would use this move. This was the second time she used this move after the fight with Origin to fight a war of attrition with Guy, wanting to win against him and get acknowledged by her elder brother and her friend Origin, who both had high opinions of him.

Meanwhile, from the Heavenly Palace, Origin and Veldanava watched this fight. In fact, when the battle began, they both immediately sensed it.

It seems Velzard has grown stronger than the last time I saw her, Origin commented.

Yes, she is indeed stronger, thanks Origin, for training her, Veldanava replied.

"No problem, Sir Veldanava. In fact, Velzard is also a good friend of mine, so I trained her and fought her many times. She was also a great help to me, after all, I copied and analyzed many of her techniques and her Ultimate Skill," Origin said. "Plus, you should also know that Velzard is now powerful, too. Shouldn't you at least praise her sometimes, too? After all, she is doing this to get your acknowledgement, right?"

Veldanava sighed. "I always knew she was doing that. In fact, I have already acknowledged her many times, but she always wants to improve to get my praise. What can I do? As an elder brother, I can support her. In fact, these types of emotions are also new to me, which makes me happy. You know that, Origin, and I also wanted to tell you something before you arrived here: I could see the future most of the time, but now, after you arrived here, I cannot see the future at all."

Veldanava continued, "Although most of the time I don't see the future, when I do, like I knew I was going to die with Lucia, I didn't change that future, and in fact, Lucia chose to die with me, knowing that. But now, I cannot see the future. This makes things even more interesting. After all, what would happen is now mysterious, and I cannot see them which makes this so much fun."

Origin also nodded. After all, if you could see the future all the time, it would be boring. He remembered watching FATE, where Gilgamesh had the ability to watch all the timelines—past, present, and future—but he locked his own ability because he found that boring.

Origin then said to Veldanava, "Sir Veldanava, let's focus on the battle between Velzard and Guy."

The battle between Guy and Velzard continued, shaking the world.
