I kept telling myself not to panic. I had no reason to feel guilty. Prince Elvin needed help, and as his friend, I was only doing what felt right. I wasn't going to stop just because someone didn't like it or because there might be consequences. I would do it again without thinking twice.
The king said nothing. His silence didn't surprise me, and his face didn't show any shock. That told me he already knew I was here. I wouldn't be surprised if Queen Fortuna had informed him. Angelina saw me on the way, and I knew how fast she could run her mouth.
The queen mother broke the silence first. She came closer to where I stood and gave me a warm smile.
"With each passing day, I am more certain I made no mistake in saying you were the right choice for my son. The way you care for his cousin like he were your own brother… I truly appreciate that."
