Chapter 192 - Chapter 190: It Failed

Inside the training room on the upper floors of the Demon Tower.

Hela's body stiffened, her entire being on high alert.

What the hell was that?! It felt as though she were standing atop a raging Odin—any moment, she could be impaled.

An opportunity!

Standing before her in full battle stance, Will saw Hela suddenly dazed and immediately lunged forward, delivering a powerful kick aimed at her chest.

Crack—!

Thud!

Will's leg snapped in three places, folding unnaturally. But he dared not make a sound.

A sharp dagger was already pressed against his eyeball.

"Next time I space out—don't attack me."

Hela came back to her senses and withdrew the dagger.

When she was in a dazed state, that was actually her most dangerous moment.

If she hadn't reacted quickly, that dagger would've pierced straight through his skull.

"Y-yes…"

Will's voice trembled. He had just narrowly avoided death during training.

"Training is over for today. Go rest," Hela said as she turned and ran off.

Though Will was still in pain over his broken leg, a smile spread across his face. Ending this hellish training five hours early? Today might just be his lucky day.

But his grin didn't last long.

A few shadows loomed over him.

"Well, if it isn't Lucky Will himself."

"Leg's broken? No worries, I reattach my dog's legs all the time."

"Relax! We're gonna take real good care of you."

Several hands grabbed the escaping Will and pinned him down.

"Wait, stop—ahhh!!"

Frank didn't bother intervening in their roughhousing. Instead, he looked out the window, a feeling of unease gnawing at his chest.

"Everyone, gather!"

The roughhousing squad immediately straightened up, injecting Will with a stimulant.

Within ten seconds, the entire team was assembled in perfect formation.

"Grab your weapons. Get to your assigned positions and await further orders."

"Yes, sir!"

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters

"Director! A massive energy signature just appeared in central New York—currently equivalent to 10 megatons of TNT, and still rising!"

The S.H.I.E.L.D. monitoring technician stared at the data in disbelief.

"Quick—locate the source!" Nick Fury's scalp tingled with dread.

"The source is... Demon Tower!"

Everyone present froze in horror.

What was the Demon King planning—destroying New York?!

"Motherf— Coulson! Take a team on the Quinjet and get there immediately. Whatever he's doing—stop him!"

Nick Fury gave the order without hesitation.

After they left, Fury pulled out a communicator from his coat and gently ran his thumb over it, eyes full of hesitation.

Wait… First figure out what the Demon King is really up to.

Asgard

Sitting upon the throne, Odin looked far off into the distance.

His gaze landed upon Earth.

And then… he saw a familiar figure.

Hela?!

Why was she out?

Just as he was about to rise and descend to Midgard, a golden ring crackling with sparks appeared before him.

From it stepped a man in a yellow robe.

"The Sorcerer Supreme!"

Odin's eyes filled with wariness.

"Odin, have a cup of tea with me."

Most of the Sorcerer Supreme's face was hidden beneath his hood. He cradled a teapot in one hand.

"She will destroy Midgard," Odin warned.

"That's not for an irresponsible parent like you to worry about. Right now, all you need to do—""—is have tea with me."

With a flick of his hand, the Sorcerer Supreme conjured a tea table and gestured for Odin to sit.

"You—!"

Odin's face darkened, a thunderous energy radiating from him.

An overwhelming divine pressure spread across the room, freezing the very air.

Thousands of years of accumulated divine power surged through his body like a flood.

"Tea or a fight. Choose."

The Sorcerer Supreme calmly sipped his tea. The pressure ruffled the brim of his hood, revealing a streak of golden hair.

"Hmph."

Odin let out a cold snort, finally sitting across from him and staring at the teacup.

"What's the point of tea without pastries?"

"I brought some. Try these Eastern delicacies—I bought them just for you."

In the depths of space…

A massive figure paused and turned toward Earth.

"Ganaata..."

In the Laboratory

A wave of metallic and electrical energy rushed out.

Lights flickered. Instruments buzzed. The air was thick with a biting, acrid stench.

Hela pushed open the door.

A blinding, glowing artificial sun hovered in mid-air, its brilliance forcing her to squint.

Then her eyes widened in shock.

"What are you doing?!"

"Making a sun. Isn't it obvious? Look at that glow—it's gorgeous! Who are you?"

Harley stared at the petite woman who'd just walked in.

"Goddess of Death—Hela."

Hela glanced at Harley.

Another woman the Demon King had picked up, clearly. That part, at least, was consistent with how a demon king should behave.

"Another goddess, huh? Do you know her?" Harley pointed at Ganaata, who was still drooling.

"No."

Hela's gaze returned to the glowing orb at the center.

Create a sun?

These humans were mad—challenging the powers of gods with mortal bodies.

No... not even gods could do this.

At least Odin couldn't.

As Hela stared at the radiant miniature sun, a rare ripple stirred within her heart.

This was a miracle of humanity—and also their madness.

But just as things reached their critical point, an unexpected accident occurred.

"Plasma temperature has reached 340 million degrees Celsius…" Killian reported, voice trembling with excitement as he stared at the data.

"Vacuum chamber nearing failure—Hank! Increase power output!" Banner shouted urgently.

"Understood! But the magnetic confinement needs more power too—we won't hold stability otherwise!" Hank responded as he worked the console.

But before he could finish his sentence—

BOOM!

The ground-mounted circuits suddenly erupted in a spray of blinding sparks.

This triggered a terrifying chain reaction.

First, the magnetic confinement system lost power and failed instantly. The once-stable artificial sun twisted violently, as if a giant invisible hand had stirred it.

Then—A searing beam of light lashed out like a wild whip, smashing into the vacuum containment unit.

KA-BOOM!

With a thunderous roar, the vacuum unit—supposedly indestructible—was torn clean in half. Shrapnel flew in every direction.

And that devastating beam didn't stop—it slammed straight into Kino's bio-field.

At the moment of impact, a stunning explosion of light illuminated the entire lab.

Kino watched the rapidly expanding sun with a sigh of disappointment.

"So it failed after all."

This was the first test. Failure was always a strong possibility. They had accounted for that.

With the bio-field in place, damage was manageable.

The people present had mixed expressions.

Dr. Otto's mechanical limbs collapsed to the floor in exhaustion.

Banner immediately began collecting data from the experiment.

Hank was already sketching out a new energy circuit.

Connors gave Otto a consoling pat on the shoulder. The two had come a long way and were old friends.

Killian, furious, punched straight through a console. The display still read: 360 million degrees Celsius.

Tony sighed and shook his head in disappointment.

Quote of the Chapter:

"Greatness often lies beyond the threshold of failure. Only those who risk the impossible can touch the stars."
