"You're here already? That was fast."
"Is being fast a bad thing?"
When Noah stepped into the Ancient One's room, she looked at him with mild surprise. Noah, meanwhile, looked equally puzzled.
What was wrong with being fast?
Mordo had said the same thing. Now the Ancient One too.
Noah shook his head. He didn't think he was fast at all. If anything, he'd been waiting for this news.
He walked straight to the table and sat down.
The Ancient One poured him a cup of tea and placed it in front of him.
"Fresh buds picked this morning. I used magic to speed up the process and turned them into tea leaves. I added a bit of honey after brewing. I'm not sure if it suits your taste."
She took a small sip.
"I've been used to it for twenty years, Master," Noah smiled. He lifted the cup and took a sip himself.
It was sweet and refreshing. The honey softened the bitterness, leaving a clean aftertaste.
Noah wasn't particularly fond of tea. If it were milk tea, he'd probably drink more. Still, whenever he came here, he never refused this cup.
"I heard you had Victor monitor Kaecilius?" the Ancient One asked suddenly.
"Yes," Noah nodded without hesitation. "Mordo mentioned he's been frequently reading forbidden books. Multiple warnings didn't help. And... I sensed dark power on him."
"So he still didn't listen," the Ancient One sighed.
She wasn't overly sad. There was only a faint trace of regret.
After all, Kaecilius was someone she had personally taught. He had stayed in Kamar-Taj for many years. Without that connection, she might have dealt with him already instead of waiting for repentance.
At least, that was the current situation.
From what Noah knew of the future, dying at Kaecilius's hands might even count as a kind of release.
"Do you want to deal with him?" the Ancient One asked calmly, taking another sip.
"I do," Noah said seriously, setting down his cup. "And I'm confident he can't resist me."
"But no matter what, he's a high-ranking sorcerer of Kamar-Taj. He's also my senior brother."
"He doesn't pose a threat to me. It mainly depends on you, Master."
"We'll see," the Ancient One smiled lightly. "But you don't need to look at me like that. You're the current manager of Kamar-Taj."
She didn't continue the topic.
Noah understood. Since she didn't want to dwell on it, neither would he.
As he'd said, Kaecilius wasn't a threat to either of them. And Kamar-Taj had more than enough people to handle him.
Mordo. Victor. Wong.
Any one of them could deal with Kaecilius.
Not to mention the number of high-ranking sorcerers and even Arch-Sorcerers available.
Using that much force on one man would be overkill.
So Noah chose to observe the Ancient One's stance instead.
No one wanted instability within their own backyard.
Honestly, Noah felt a bit too confident lately.
In the past, he would've been extremely cautious around Kaecilius.
But now?
Tier-eight. Level nine.
And a tier-nine dragon clone.
With the Space and Time Stones, as long as Victor kept an eye on Kaecilius, Noah could appear instantly and erase him.
Against a tier-seven opponent, was this really arrogance?
If he were truly arrogant, he wouldn't even bother monitoring him.
"To put it bluntly," Noah lifted his cup and took another sip, "I'm still a wimp."
"God knows what Dormammu would be like if he showed up."
He genuinely didn't care about Kaecilius.
Dormammu was the problem.
Noah didn't know which dimension that thing belonged to, but its strength was undoubtedly absurd. Even restricted by this world, it was still capable of destroying everything.
"What are you thinking about?" the Ancient One asked.
Noah looked up and composed himself.
"Nothing. Just thinking about something else."
"I see," she nodded. "By the way, how does your new weapon feel?"
"The space power is stable," Noah replied. "But the time power... maybe it's a talent issue. I can understand it, but I can't use it independently like space. I still rely on the gem."
"That's normal," the Ancient One said. "Time is filled with taboos. Space is as well, but comparatively easier."
"Later on, their power is almost identical."
Almost identical?
Noah found that hard to believe.
Time always felt stronger than space.
But thinking carefully, both were terrifying.
Space could span the world. It could even transcend it.
Time could trace the past and erase enemies before they ever existed.
Viewed that way, neither was inferior.
"No wonder the system wants to merge them," Noah thought.
Perhaps in the later stages, their effectiveness truly aligned.
Attributes mattered, but so did compatibility.
The four elements weren't an issue.
Light and dark were opposites.
But what power could match space without altering its nature?
After thinking it through, Noah realized that if he had to choose, he'd choose time as well.
"You came here for something, didn't you?" the Ancient One asked, as if she already knew he'd drift off when he felt comfortable.
"Huh? Oh," Noah snapped back, scratching his head. "Two things, Master."
"Go on."
Noah nodded and took out a crystal, placing it on the table.
The Ancient One recognized it immediately.
A sorcerer's memory crystal.
Used to convey information that was difficult-or impossible-to explain verbally.
She frowned slightly.
Was it really that important?
After a brief pause, she infused magic into the crystal.
The memories flowed in.
"This... this is!"
Her eyes snapped open.
The crystal didn't contain a single piece of information.
It was a complete process.
The fusion of time and space power into the four elements.
Its value was immeasurable.
Especially to her.
Even the Ancient One found it difficult to reach this level.
Yet Noah had done it.
And he'd been busy "experiencing ordinary human life" during that time.
"You... you accomplished this?" she asked, frowning deeply.
"I guess," Noah nodded. "It's very difficult. This is as far as I can go for now."
As far as he could go?
The Ancient One almost wanted to knock him on the head.
Only two people in this world could use such domain-level magic.
And she was a peak tier-ten existence.
Even for her, it wasn't easy.
Yet Noah spoke like this was trivial.
After a long silence, she shook her head.
She didn't want to think about how he did it.
Perhaps his talent was simply extraordinary.
And more importantly, he had created this magic himself.
"It seems I'll be benefiting from your brilliance," she said with a wry smile. "You really are amazing, Noah."
"Probably," Noah nodded. "Every time I attempt the fusion, there's a feeling."
"If it fails, there's nothing."
"If it succeeds, there's excitement."
"And if there's danger-"
"Don't say it," the Ancient One interrupted. "That's your talent."
"You are a guide for sorcerers. A guide for the future."
"I'm very glad to have a student like you."
Noah smiled.
He felt the same.
He didn't continue the topic.
Instead, he told her about his potential visit to the being hidden beneath the European sea.
"Go," the Ancient One said calmly. "She's dangerous to you, but her weakness is obvious."
"Figure out how to take away her weapon."
"And inform me before you leave. I'll assist."
"I was waiting for you to say that, Master," Noah nodded. "Then there won't be any problems."
"You," she shook her head, amused. "Still so timid... no."
"Cautious."
"Go. I'll wait for your news."
"Alright, Master," Noah stood up, then paused. "But before I go-this crystal is extremely pure."
"And very expensive."
