Chapter 454 - Chapter 454: The One Who Finally Returned

After leaving Tony's place, Noah went back to the Sanctum to rest.

Honestly, the busyness of this period had far exceeded his expectations. But he didn't feel tired.

He'd had fun.

Looking ahead, there really wasn't much left to do this year.

Wait for news from Wick.

Decide whether to visit a certain underwater location in Europe.

And take Hermione out for Christmas.

If he thought carefully, the only thing that gave him a headache was that underwater location. More precisely, whether he should go find the long-lost one sleeping there.

As an Assassin's Creed fan, Noah was genuinely irritated by the current state of assassins.

He wanted to meet the pioneer who founded the profession. To see how this person viewed the present situation.

Or maybe the person had already given up and was just waiting to die.

Of course, Noah wasn't about to rush in blindly.

The opponent was a tier-9 expert. Noah was only a tier-8, level-9 wizard.

That gap mattered.

In his memory, that person was either an assassin or a warrior. At the very least, a human.

Which meant one thing.

In close combat, even at their weakest, they would still overwhelm Noah.

Noah wasn't stupid.

He wasn't suicidal.

So before meeting that assassin leader, Noah planned to properly visit his teacher first.

He could bring out the recent gains provided by the system.

He could also discuss this visit in advance.

"If my teacher helps," Noah stroked his chin, "this won't be a problem."

"If it goes smoothly... I might even pull him out."

The thought wasn't bad.

If he could bring that person out, they'd gain another top-tier expert.

And the hidden benefits didn't even need to be mentioned.

That person had always pursued "balance."

Noah didn't agree with that.

"If we're talking balance, how does that compare to the grand worldview of League of Legends?"

"The so-called balance of ordinary humans does have meaning..."

"But the scale is too small."

He shook his head and stopped thinking about it.

At the very least, he had to catch that Arab first.

As for Wick?

That guy was ruthless.

To complete the mission, he directly killed Iosef Tarasov inside the Continental Hotel to reclaim what was his.

It wasn't as satisfying as killing a High Table member personally.

But under Winston's manipulation, Wick's situation became desperate.

Surrounded on all sides.

Forced to flee into the desert to survive.

Of course, this was all planned by Wick and Winston themselves.

Otherwise, how could he be driven into that situation and still escape alive?

Noah didn't know how it would all end.

And he didn't care.

He'd been focused on studying his gems lately.

The Time Stone and the Space Stone.

In some sense, they were forbidden powers.

Noah had already explored space.

Combined with his physique, there were no real issues.

Aside from tier limitations-things like crossing universes-he was unrestricted.

Within the Milky Way, as long as he knew the coordinates, he could go anywhere.

Time was different.

That power frustrated him.

Like Doctor Strange, Noah could only control it through a medium.

A weapon.

The system's integration speed for space and time was actually fast.

The system was right.

Although time and space didn't naturally attract each other, as Infinity Stones, they could neutralize and stabilize one another.

Integration wasn't difficult.

The real problem was fusing them with his original domain.

That part was troublesome.

Progress was steady, but clearly slower than before.

Still, this "slow" pace was probably far faster than what the Ancient One had achieved through personal research.

The system's computational power was absurd.

Noah had once seen a simulation.

The speed, the branching calculations, the instant discarding of failed traits-

It was terrifying.

One second of system computation equaled weeks of Noah's own effort.

After that, Noah stopped caring how the system worked.

It wouldn't listen to him anyway.

And it wouldn't harm him.

A few months later, Mordo sent him a message.

The Ancient One had emerged.

Noah didn't hesitate.

He went straight to Kamar-Taj.

He'd wanted to see her for a long time. She hadn't been there last time.

"So fast?"

The moment he stepped out, he ran into Mordo.

Mordo looked at him in surprise.

"I just sent the message."

"You're already here."

Noah looked at him oddly.

Why was Mordo here?

"Why are you here?"

"I sent the message from here," Mordo replied. "Who knew you'd arrive this fast?"

Noah stroked his chin.

Was that strange?

For magicians like them, time differences barely mattered.

"Let's go," Mordo said. "Why are you spacing out?"

"The Master just came out."

"Since you're here, let's head in. I thought I'd have to wait days and was planning to go out first."

"Go out where?" Noah asked blankly.

"Are you... pimping again?"

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Mordo's face darkened.

"I'm going to New York to see a sorcerer."

"He was once severely paralyzed. Now he can move."

"He followed the Master for a while."

"What's wrong with me visiting him?"

Oh.

That guy.

Noah nodded.

He remembered him-the guide who once led Doctor Strange.

Unlucky.

Paralyzed in body.

And in the original timeline, personally killed by Mordo.

But things were different now.

Mordo wouldn't fall into darkness.

Doctor Strange wouldn't obtain the Time Stone.

The guide would still be a guide.

At least he wouldn't die tragically.

"So that's how it is." Noah nodded and followed Mordo into the courtyard.

"By the way, how's Victor doing?"

"Doing what you told him to do."

That single sentence almost confused Noah.

Doing what I told him to do?

Was his arrangement that obvious?

Noah stared at Mordo for a long moment.

If everyone knew, wouldn't Kaecilius notice too?

"Don't look at me like that," Mordo said calmly.

"I noticed your arrangements."

"I'm temporarily managing Kamar-Taj."

"Of course I pay attention to sorcerers like Victor."

"I see." Noah nodded. "Your control is solid."

"But did Kaecilius notice?"

"Relax." Mordo smiled.

"Because I knew it was you, I deliberately increased patrol intensity there."

"Kaecilius won't notice."

"Victor's better than him. And he uses technology-no magical fluctuations."

Noah laughed.

Victor really had his methods.

He'd probably been caught planting listening devices or something, and Mordo had found out.

So Mordo increased patrols.

Let Kaecilius notice them instead.

It reduced gathering frequency temporarily, but Mordo wouldn't keep it up.

What Victor needed was information.

What Noah needed was the same.

Soon enough, the patrols would be withdrawn.

Victor wouldn't be exposed.

And he'd still obtain intel.

"Information?" Noah tilted his head. "Did he tell you?"

"No." Mordo shook his head.

"He plans to tell you."

"He said it's not a big deal."

"And that I shouldn't worry."

Noah nodded.

If it were serious, Victor would've informed both of them and involved the Ancient One.

Since he hadn't, it probably wasn't important.

While talking, they arrived at the Ancient One's courtyard.

Mordo stopped.

Noah looked at him in confusion.

"Why aren't you going in?"

"The Master wants to see you," Mordo whispered.

"Alone."

"Oh." Noah stroked his chin. "Alright."

He took a step forward.

"Wait."

Mordo suddenly stopped him.

Noah turned back, puzzled.

Another question?

He waited.

"By the way... you and the Master..." Mordo hesitated.

"Did you create a new kind of magic?"

"Huh?" Noah looked at him strangely.

Then he glanced toward the room.

"I see."

"Yes. It's new magic."

"You'll learn it later."

"I will?" Mordo froze.

"Yes."

"A brand-new magic."

"One that will change the future path of magicians."
