Tony and Victor's factory had been under construction for some time. Victor had handed most of the work to his apprentice, which explained the speed. Noah wasn't surprised. In the magical world, progress was always faster than in the mundane one.
They lacked heavy industry.
They had magic.
Things that were impossible for ordinary people became trivial with spells. Finishing a factory in under a year wasn't worth mentioning. What Noah actually cared about was what Tony and Victor planned to produce.
Life in the magical world was improving. Wizards' demands were increasing. Innovation in everyday magical items was overdue.
"So," Noah said, stroking his chin, "what exactly have you and Victor been cooking up?"
"A lot," Tony replied after sitting down and thinking. "Pretty mixed. Magic TVs that connect to the internet. Household stuff. Basically, anything you can think of."
There were too many items to list. Even Tony couldn't remember them all. The fusion of technology and magic involved countless design details. After a moment, he gave up explaining and took Noah straight to the lab.
The place had everything.
Magic phones. Magic air conditioners.
Electronic products infused with magic were everywhere. There were no weapons, but it was still overwhelming.
"All of these are from you and Victor?" Noah asked, glancing at the air conditioner before picking up a phone. "What do they do?"
"Simple," Tony said, pointing casually. "The air conditioner uses a magic core. I modified it so it absorbs energy on its own. It adapts to any weather."
"So heating and cooling," Noah said, nodding. "What about the phone? No charging?"
"No charging. I also modified the signal source," Tony said lightly. "You'll have reception anywhere. Everest. The East African Rift Valley. Doesn't matter."
Noah's eyebrow twitched.
This thing was absurd.
A true life-saving artifact.
People didn't just get lost in no-man's-land. Wizards did too. Rare materials were usually found in dangerous, uninhabited areas. With this phone, disappearing would be far less likely.
The air conditioner wasn't bad either. London's weather alone justified it. Noah noticed the runes carved into it. It could simulate environments. Immersive. Excessive.
As for the rest, he didn't bother asking. None of it was simple. And none of it would fail in the market.
"Tsk," Noah said, looking at Tony. "You really put effort into this."
He had genuinely worried Tony wouldn't take it seriously.
Tony's next sentence froze his expression.
"Effort? These are easy."
"Easy?" Noah narrowed his eyes. "So you're saying this doesn't take thought?"
"Not really," Tony replied without noticing. "Pretty straightforward."
"...Impressive," Noah said slowly.
"Oh," Tony added, "I gave you BD1. He doesn't talk. I didn't install a language module. I can give you a translator device. He knows a lot of things. Some of them aren't meant for others."
Noah looked at the small droid making beeping noises and stroked his chin.
Interesting.
When he had seen BD1 in the Star Wars world, he'd had ideas. He just hadn't acted on them. Now that Tony had given him one, Noah wouldn't need to visit WeChat terminal locations anymore.
And Tony had clearly dumped a massive amount of technological data into it.
"I like it," Noah said, patting BD1's head.
The little droid immediately jumped onto his shoulder, like Hathaway's owl.
"Good," Tony said casually. "Oh, one more thing."
An R2D2-like robot rolled out.
"This is my robot. Jarvis."
Noah's mouth twitched. "You put Jarvis in... this?"
"What?" Tony said defensively. "This is Luke's friend. And I have a BD1 model too. I just don't remember which version it's from."
He waved it off.
"Anyway. Fury's looking for me."
Noah paused.
That explained it.
Fury had moved faster than expected. Negotiations already? It hadn't been long since D.C.
"You're not going to ask why?" Tony asked, watching Noah think.
"What's there to ask?" Noah replied. "He saw the Star Wars tech I gave you. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarriers were wiped out. Of course he'd come looking."
It wasn't strange at all.
Rogers and Bucky tearing through S.H.I.E.L.D. hadn't made the news, but it hadn't been hidden from them either. This disaster was worse than the original timeline.
Aside from Fury's single remaining Helicarrier, almost everything was gone.
The losses were unbearable.
Hydra's exposure made it worse. Investigations began immediately. S.H.I.E.L.D. was practically suspended. Coulson and the others were barely holding it together.
Fury left the last Helicarrier with them.
It was the final remnant.
He couldn't abandon it entirely. So he reallocated S.W.O.R.D.'s unfinished budget and came to Tony.
What he wanted was obvious.
A better Helicarrier.
"Figures," Tony said, shrugging. "Shame you gave me the tech late. Otherwise my HQ might've been in space."
"You're thinking too far ahead," Noah said calmly. "Pure technology alone isn't the point. Finish integrating magic first. Then build."
"Fair," Tony nodded, then grinned. "By the way, I heard Thor broke up with someone?"
Noah rolled his eyes. "Where did you hear that?"
Who had such a big mouth?
Then it clicked.
Jane Foster.
Thor had moved her away before the Battle of New York. Tony had access. A breakup between an Earth woman and an Asgardian prince was impossible to miss.
"Gossip isn't healthy," Noah sighed. "Thor's recovered. Ms. Foster's lifespan and Asgard... forget it. Even compared to us, she doesn't measure up. A hundred years from now, we'll look the same. She won't."
Tony nodded, then hesitated. "So then I-"
"Relax," Noah said with a mischievous smile. "Wizards have magic."
"...She can use it too?"
"..."
"Oh," Tony added, "how did you calm Thor down? London had thunder a while back. That was him, right? Bachelor party?"
"..."
