As Noah wondered if Thor was some kind of fake, Loki himself was a bit bewildered. He had no idea what chaotic thoughts were going through Noah's mind; he was just curious why Thor appeared this way. Honestly, shouldn't a normal Thor arriving on Earth typically use more conventional methods? Like taking a car or walking to the door, ringing a doorbell, something like that. But now, just brazenly showing up using the Bifrost clearly indicated he was in a hurry. This suddenly made Loki feel very amused. What could make his foolish brother so anxious?
"What happened?" Noah tilted his head, asking knowingly.
"Jane, the woman you know, I can't find her," Thor immediately stated his purpose.
As soon as Thor finished speaking, Loki rolled his eyes.
He'd thought something big had happened, that Thor rushing over so suddenly for help meant he'd encountered some troublesome opponent. To Loki's dismay, this guy was unsettled simply because of a woman. Was there any hint of the demeanor an Asgardian prince should possess?
"Uh... your girlfriend? Maybe she went out for something?" Wong rubbed his head. He knew Thor, so he didn't mind saying something, and Wong didn't think this was a big deal.
"Alright, Wong ." Noah immediately cut off Wong. Thor now looked increasingly troubled. "Thor, even Heimdall
can't find her?"
"Yes," Thor nodded at once. "He could see her before, but then she just disappeared."
Both Ms.Haifin and Wong knew who Heimdall was, let alone Loki, who was from Asgard. Therefore, their conversation made Ms.Haifin and the others realize something was amiss. Had Thor's little girlfriend simply vanished without a trace?
Noah ignored the others' thoughts and directly asked, "Where was the last place you saw Jane?"
"In your country, England, if I remember correctly."
Thor severely lacked common knowledge about Earth, so being able to name the country meant he'd done some homework beforehand. He couldn't help it; his girlfriend had disappeared here, and Noah's Sanctum was also in this place. However, his answer nearly made Ms.Haifin and Wong roll their eyes. England is so big, couldn't he at least give a specific location? Were they expected to search all of England?
Should they be grateful Thor didn't just say the UK, or would they have to search Scotland and Ireland too? Fortunately, Heimdall had provided the detailed location. In fact, even if Thor hadn't said anything and Noah had to search blindly, he could still have found her.
Because Noah already knew the exact location. If he couldn't sense such strong energy fluctuations, Noah felt he'd truly be useless.
"Alright, I know where she is. Loki, you come with us. It's almost been a year since you've been here. After we deal with this, you should go home and check in." Noah had no intention of wasting more time here. After making arrangements, he prepared to leave. Ms.Haifin was a bit worried, but seeing Noah's nonchalant expression and Wong and Dennis's "it's no big deal" looks, she immediately calmed down.
"I'm going too? Fine, I'd actually like to see what's going on." Loki didn't seem too concerned about it, but if one looked closely, they could tell he was quite pleased.
"It's settled then. Let's go." Noah nodded to Ms.Haifin and casually opened a glowing portal. Even before, Noah had already sensed that strange power, and with Thor's explanation, he had completely pinpointed the location.
Moreover, Noah was now finding that his spatial magic had improved significantly in various aspects.
Whether it was casting speed or magic consumption, everything felt increasingly effortless and comfortable for Noah. Noah even had a feeling that if he directly used the gem as a medium, he could go to any corner of this universe he desired! Noah didn't know if this feeling was a misconception, but he knew that his current abilities might be some special effects and benefits brought by the Space Stone.
This made Noah very satisfied and also made him anticipate the benefits from the Time Stone. Noah had already extracted the Time Stone's power through the system and had tried to research it himself.
However, perhaps it was Noah's first time interacting with such power, leading to his less-than-stellar performance, even when using the Time Stone itself. But Noah wasn't in a hurry; he could take his time, couldn't he?
Stepping out of the teleportation portal with Thor and Loki, Noah found himself in an abandoned factory. There were long-unused factory buildings everywhere, and some old cars that had been parked for who knew how long. None of that was particularly remarkable. What was more eye-catching were some shipping containers stacked like building blocks, and even a truck flipped on
its side, floating off the ground.
"This place really is..." Noah looked at the scene, only sighing in relief that it wasn't in the city center, otherwise who knew what kind of chaos such a supernatural event would cause. But what Noah hadn't expected was that shortly after he arrived, he sensed several magical auras also lingering there.
"Ministry of Magic people?" Noah tilted his head. "Come out, if you're already here."
"Guardian Phoenix."
As Noah's words fell, a few young men in black robes with a very British style soon emerged from the shadows. Leading them was a pale-faced man with light blonde short hair. Seeing this man, Noah himself was startled, because this guy was an old acquaintance of Noah's.
"Draco?"
"Yes, it's an honor you still remember me, Guardian Phoenix."
Of course I remember you, you're a lucky guy, and you have a beautiful wife. Noah silently snickered to himself.
Of course, even without those specific conditions, Noah would still remember him. After all, they were classmates, and he'd even been on an adventure with Noah once, albeit playing a minor role. After that, he joined the Mage Alliance and even got into Kamar-Taj.
"It's been a while since we last met, the last time was in Kamar-Taj. I hear you've become the Head of the Department of Mysteries, congratulations."
"Thank you, Guardian Noah..."
"Just call me Noah. The past is the past. Your admission to Kamar-Taj proves you're not an idiot or a megalomaniac. We're still classmates, after all."
Draco could only give a wry smile at being interrupted by Noah like this, but mostly he felt pleased. Noah's current status was vastly different from his days in the academy. One could say that however arrogant Draco was in front of Noah back then, he was now just as humble. Fortunately, Noah didn't dwell on the past, and Draco had indeed changed. Whether due to family reasons or personal ones, he was no longer that tsundere kid obsessed with pure-blood supremacy. He was a rational and very astute Head of the Department of Mysteries.
"Alright, enough about that. Your Department of Mysteries came here because you discovered something, right?"
"Yes, Guardian Noah... Noah, about ten minutes ago, we sensed unusual magical fluctuations. Acting Minister Granger suggested we investigate, and we happened to encounter you here."
Noah nodded. He had also sensed abnormal energy about ten minutes ago. It seemed the Ministry of Magic's defenses were better than he'd imagined. He glanced back at Thor, and had to admit the guy had indeed changed a lot. Although he was now visibly anxious, he hadn't interrupted Noah and Draco's conversation.
This was a sign of maturity; in the past, he probably would have gone berserk by now. Perhaps after learning for so long, he was no longer the hot-headed, impulsive battle maniac he once was. He also knew that the more anxious he was, the more likely he was to make mistakes.
Calmly searching for anomalies and figuring out what was happening here was the correct way to handle the problem. Besides, there were two mages conversing here; interrupting their discussion now would clearly not be a good idea. Who knew if his rashness would cause these mages to miss the key to resolving this issue?
Just then, a familiar figure emerged from the dilapidated factory building, looking around anxiously, phone in hand, constantly dialing. This person's appearance immediately caught the attention of Noah and the others, and Thor was the first to recognize who this woman was.
"Darcy?"
Darcy was Jane Foster's assistant. Although Jane hadn't been found, meeting Jane's assistant might provide some answers. Thor quickly ran over, and Darcy was also surprised to see Thor. But when she saw Noah and the others, she was completely stunned.
"Noah, you know this mu... woman?" Draco noticed the way the woman named Darcy looked at Noah. It was filled with respect and fear, and something else.
"Yes," Noah nodded directly. "I met her in America a few years ago, but back then, magic wasn't public, so I silenced her. Oh, and I also gave Thor a good scolding then, which she happened to witness."
Gave Thor a good scolding? Loki, standing beside Noah, immediately showed some interest. Glancing at Thor, who was currently gathering information from the woman, Loki began to consider how to coax some details about that encounter out of Noah. However, just then, Thor had separated from the woman and was walking back towards Noah and the others, looking disappointed...
