"Then trust me. There's no need for questions." Releasing her waist, Nathan pressed a kiss to her forehead. He smiled and patted the top of her head, but the atmosphere had already become so suffocating that it was impossible not to notice his annoyance. A shadow covered his face, the disappearance of the tenderness in his eyes like a fatal wound to the soul.
She had almost forgotten how quickly this man's mood could change. She needed to be careful with her words, but she knew close to nothing about him and clearly that's how he wanted it to stay.
"Let's head down." Taking her hand, Nathan turned on his feet, steering towards the door. As he began to pull her, his free hand swept through his hair and gripped the strands tightly at the back. She saw it when the veins in his arm bulged under skin and though it was low, she also heard the sigh that slipped through his lips after that.
