Xandros slept for two hours and then got up to make breakfast. Fu Ling came down a few minutes later.
They exchanged greetings and he sat looking at Xandros.
"What did you do last night?"
Xandros didn't hide it and told him everything that happened. He thought Fu Ling would be focused on Noel's escape but he wasn't.
"So you're the king's son?"
Fu Ling narrowed his eyes faintly. This meant he could guiltlessly give the throne to Xandros.
They both had breakfast and then got ready to head to work just as their comms started beeping.
They sped up their pace and reached the base in record time.
The base was buzzing with unusual tension when Xandros and Fu Ling arrived. Soldiers moved briskly through the corridors, their boots hammering against the steel floor, voices hushed but strained. The towering holographic map in the command hall pulsed with red warnings across multiple sectors.
Caspian was already waiting for them, arms folded, his sharp features set in a grim line.
