William came out of the study room after about twenty minutes.
Mia had never seen Emily so poised before, with her legs crossed and hands resting on her knees, the very picture of a refined lady.
William sat next to her, his arm naturally wrapping around her waist. "Emily, I don't think I've seen you before. Have you always lived in the US?"
Emily replied softly, "Yes, I've been in the US since I was born."
"You have a different demeanor from Mia." As he spoke, William turned to look at her, his gaze filled with affection. "You're more lively than Emily."
Since she had known William, such affectionate looks had existed. Still, they were almost always in the bedroom, never in front of others. This made her feel as if a scheme was forming in William's eyes.
Emily waved her hands repeatedly. "No, no, I'm not like that..., that's not my usual personality... I..." Her stuttering plunged Emily into awkwardness once again.
