"WHAT?!" Shelly's voice cracked as she shouted, her eyes widening in complete shock.
"You... don't know?" I asked, my confusion deepening with every passing second. This didn't make any sense.
"No... I don't," she replied slowly, squinting at me as if trying to read something hidden in my expression.
This was beyond strange. How could she not know I was her new roommate when Lucas clearly did? The pieces weren't fitting together, and something felt deliberately wrong about this whole situation.
"Didn't you receive any message from the school?" I pressed, watching as she paused to think deeply about my question.
"Well, there was this one time when a letter was sent to me," she said after a long moment of silence, her brow furrowing as she recalled the memory.
