Icy Wind.
This was the only move Starmie managed to execute.
Wallace's strategy was to slow down Zeraora.
However, this Icy Wind attack failed to penetrate the electrical barrier surrounding Zeraora's body, and the speed reduction effect was completely negated. Starmie was then immediately eliminated by a single Thunder attack.
Wallace recalled Starmie and sent out his fifth Pokemon.
A Level 93 Ludicolo.
Ludicolo, possessing both Water and Grass typing, wasn't weak to Electric-type moves.
Thinking about it, this Ludicolo was probably Wallace's specially trained Pokemon for rain team strategies.
Ludicolo had abilities like "Swift Swim" and "Rain Dish" that were perfectly suited for rainy weather—the former doubled its speed, while the latter provided continuous HP recovery.
Chris wasn't sure which ability Wallace's Ludicolo possessed.
However, regardless of its ability, the outcome would be the same.
Before Zeraora, all opponents were nothing more than cannon fodder!
"Ludicolo, use Water Pledge!" Wallace commanded immediately upon its appearance.
In the center of the battlefield lay the massive chasm that Totem Whiscash had created with "Tectonic Rage." Any Pokemon unable to fly would fall into this abyss upon entering the field.
Ludicolo now found itself trapped within the crater.
Following its master's command, it immediately slapped the ground with both hands, drawing groundwater up to fill the abyss.
"Thunder!" Chris commanded with an expressionless face.
With Ludicolo trapped in the abyss like a caged animal, it didn't even have a chance to dodge.
Zeraora extended its claws toward a specific point in the chasm.
"CRACK!" White lightning condensed into a focused beam within the storm clouds and instantly pierced into the abyss.
"Ludicolo is unable to battle! Zeraora wins!" the referee announced the result.
In this full-team battle, Wallace had already lost five Pokemon and only had his final one remaining.
The scene was approaching its climax.
Everyone present, including Chris, knew what his last Pokemon would be.
Just as everyone knew that Lance's ace was Dragonite and Steven's ace was Metagross, each champion had their signature Pokemon.
Wallace's ace Pokemon was Milotic!
Taking a deep breath, Wallace looked up at the sky as the clouds gradually began to disperse.
The rain summoned by Politoed was finally subsiding.
Surveying the entire battlefield—the abyss filled with water and several large emerald leaves floating on the surface—he had used his other Pokemon to create the optimal battle conditions for Milotic.
"Partner, this final match is up to you! Let our opponent witness our Contest performance!" Wallace hurled a Poke Ball skyward.
The Poke Ball opened in mid-air, and a brilliant blue orb of water emerged.
The azure sphere exploded in the air, each water droplet dispersing into the finest mist possible. Under the lighting, the mist sparkled like brilliant starlight.
Milotic appeared like a true dragon gliding through clouds and mist, gracefully twisting its elegant form while enveloped in shimmering stars. It descended into the abyss before quickly leaping out, landing delicately on one of the floating leaves with perfect poise and serenity.
"It's absolutely beautiful!" Chris exclaimed in admiration.
Worthy of being Contest champion Wallace—the Pokemon he raised wasn't just gorgeous in appearance but possessed a refined elegance that other Pokemon couldn't match.
Presumably, this Milotic's Beauty stat had already reached maximum value.
However, beauty alone wouldn't win battles. As a Water-type, it was no different from any other Pokemon when facing Zeraora.
"Thunderbolt!" Chris commanded.
Time to end this match!
"Milotic, use Attract!" Wallace commanded simultaneously.
Zeraora was about to unleash its attack, but Milotic's move executed faster since it required only a simple glance.
Immediately, Zeraora's eyes transformed into heart shapes as it entered the "Infatuated" status condition! The electricity coursing through its body dissipated, and Thunderbolt failed to activate.
Compared to the "Attract" move that needed only a momentary gaze, Thunderbolt—which required gathering and releasing electrical current—was simply too slow!
"Beauty really is a weapon..." Chris muttered, speechless.
Although the Attract move only affected Pokemon of the opposite gender, causing them to fall into the "Infatuated" condition...
But what did Milotic's Water 1 and Dragon egg groups have to do with Zeraora's Field egg group?
Wait, was it possible that some creatures really were attracted to serpentine forms?
In any case, Chris could only attribute this to Milotic's beauty reaching a level that transcended species barriers.
"Milotic, use Hydro Pump!" Wallace immediately pressed his advantage.
While infatuated, Zeraora could only stand there like a lovesick fool, giggling and drooling.
Milotic immediately launched a powerful Hydro Pump blast into the air.
"TWEET!!!" Suddenly, a sharp whistle sound filled the battlefield.
Hearing the whistle, Zeraora immediately snapped out of its infatuated state, activated Agility, and performed an aerial dodge to avoid the Hydro Pump attack.
Wallace couldn't help but look in the direction of the whistle sound.
He saw Chris holding a red whistle in his hand.
"What is that?" Wallace frowned.
Chris quietly put away the whistle. This item was called a Red Flute, and it had the effect of curing the Infatuated condition.
Similar to this whistle, he possessed four others: blue, yellow, white, and black variants.
This set of flutes had been crafted for him by an NPC using Volcanic Ash when he passed through Route 113.
Unlike the Red Flute that cured Infatuation, the Blue Flute could cure Sleep, and the Yellow Flute could cure Confusion.
The black and white flutes affected wild Pokemon encounter rates.
These magical items didn't exist in reality and couldn't be used in official competitions. Chris typically only used them in field battles or matches without strict regulations.
But in game-style battles with game rules, these items were perfectly legal.
"Zeraora, Thunderbolt!" Chris commanded. With beauty proving useless, Milotic's greatest weapon had essentially failed.
The battle was about to conclude.
Zeraora raised its hand as electricity coursed through its entire body. In the next instant, white lightning condensed into an arrow-like beam, shooting directly toward Milotic!
Wallace frantically shouted his command.
"Milotic, use Aqua Ring to block it!"
