"make sure to stay close, Young Midoriya" Yagi-sensei said as the two changed into their hero suits on the flight to I-Island "We'll probably get mobbed by fans the moment we get off."
"We can't just go into the air?" Izuku questioned "We both could outrun them, no?"
"You still have much to learn my boy!" All Might declared "Only run from fans when you're running late! That too is part of being a hero!"
"That took longer than expected!" All Might laughed as he rubbed off the lipstick off his face.
"I didn't think they'd ask for my sign too" Izuku muttered before perking up as he heard the sound of…bouncing?
"Uncle!"
The two turned to see a blonde girl with glasses make her way down the stairs on a pogo stick.
"Uncle Might!"
'Say what now?'
"Oh, Melissa!" All Might laughed as he grabbed the girl and spun "Man, I almost didn't recognize you! You've grown up now!"
"I'm almost 17 now" the girl said as he put her down.
"Oh right, where's Dave?" All Might asked.
"He's in his lab" the girl answered cheerily "he's finished the first stage of some research he'd been working on for years, so I invited you here to celebrate as a surprise!"
"Oh, young Midoriya" All Might turned to his protegee "This is my friend's daughter."
"I'm Melissa Shield." The girl introduced herself with an extended arm "Nice to meet you!"
"yeah, that makes more sense" Izuku muttered as he shook her hand "Nice to meet you, I'm Izuku Midoriya, Hero Name: Beacon."
She looked him over.
"you're a bit young to be a hero, no?"
"I'm still a student at UA" Izuku said with a smile.
"Young Midoriya here already has a temporary License, so he's official got the same status as a Hero!" All Might said with a clap on Izuku's shoulder.
"That must mean you're Uncle Might's student then!" Melissa exclaimed "You've got a promising future then, huh?"
She started to zoom all around him, looking over his costume design and poking him at spaces.
She gasped in wonder when her finger went through his shoulder.
"What...exactly is your quirk?"
Izuku passed his hand through the other one before releasing Haki from the tip of his fingers.
"I'm literally made of light, and I can compress it into this. Also I can make myself stronger by stacking light on myself."
Again. Completely bullshit answer, but a guys gotta improvise when he's hiding a world class secret.
"You look like you're having fun, Izuku"
With a squawk of surprise, Izuku turned to see Momo and a couple of other from 1A standing behind him.
'Haki didn't tell me anything about this!'
"Momo" he let out in a squeak "When'd you get there!?"
"You look like you're having fun" she said again with a blank expression.
"Midoriya" Jiro said "I heard everything"
'Jiro's Earphone Jacks are something to be feared!'
"you sounded like you were having fun" Uraraka said, turning slightly to look at Momo, still with her blank expression.
"Friends of yours?" Melissa poked his shoulder.
"Yeah" Izuku nodded "guys, this is Melissa Shield. She's showing me around the expo."
"Yes, my papa and Uncle Might are catching up so I'm showing him all the amazing things here!"
Momo snapped out of it, looking at Izuku with narrowed eyes.
"So you came with All Might, huh? No wonder you said no to me."
"Hey I did say you might have a surprise there" Izuku defended himself "Personally I think I am the best surprise you could get here."
"True enough" Momo admitted, whispering to him "but still, you should have said something! Even Katsuki clearly said that he's using your invite for the sports festival victory so I didn't ask him either. Itsuka and Tetsutetsu said their internships are this week, and Hitoshi said he's being trained for something. I felt lonely you know?"
"You've got two friends right here" he hissed back "and I know you brought more in your hotel. Plus, I'm here now."
She sighed.
Melissa stared at them curiously, before clapping her hands once. "How about we go to a café?"
"He's so embarrassing sometimes" Izuku muttered, pinching his brows as he saw Katsuki yell at the announcer to let him try again after seeing Todoroki top his score.
"Everyone stop them!" Iida called out, rushing to stop the confrontation "UA's embarrassing secrets will be exposed to the world!"
While Kirishima went down to help, Izuku just sighed deeply.
"I promise they're usually much less…chaotic." He said to Melissa.
"Is that so?" she asked with a smile.
"…no".
"I made this support item as I watched Uncle Might" Melissa said as she put the red bracelet on his arm which extended to a gauntlet covering his full arm.
"Whoa" Izuku muttered as he looked it over "this is neat."
"when I first met you I thought you'd be a speed type, but when I saw you in the Villain attack I saw that you seemed to be holding back, so I thought that maybe your quirk would start destroying your body if you went over a certain limit."
"That's…exactly right" Izuku nodded "I've already raised my limit to around 45% constant without being in pain, but when I go 100% my body literally starts breaking. Like this one time I punched with my fist and my hand just disappeared, and I had to will it to grow back."
Her eyes widened.
"Your hand disappeared?"
He pointed at his elbow.
"yeah, everything below that just…poof. Regrowing it hurts like hell too, but usually the adrenaline helps with that."
She nodded "well this should help a lot then. This full gauntlet is strong enough to take 3 of All Might's full power punches!"
"Whaat" Izuku gaped "how the hell did you make that while still in school?"
"like I said, it's been my dream to help people with my inventions" she said with a soft smile "you're definitely going to become someone who saves millions of people, so this little bit of support is all I can give."
Izuku's response was drowned out by the sound of Iida calling him.
"I'm gonna go get changed" Izuku said quickly as he returned the full gauntlet down to its wristband form "Thanks for this!"
"Why were you late?" Momo asked with an overly sweet voice as Izuku walked in "Why must both you and Katsuki be like this?"
"Sorry" Izuku said, fiddling with his tie "this thing is killing me"
She sighed, before stepping forward to fix his tie for him while Izuku just put his hands behind his back.
"Weren't you going to put a bowtie since ties are always annoying to you?"
"yeah but, since you're wearing a yellow dress I figured wearing a matching shirt and a dark tie would look good."
"well it does" she complimented him "you look quite dashing."
"Thanks" he grinned "you look amazing too."
"You're all still here?"
The duo turned to see Melissa run in to the background sound of Mineta and Kaminari's joyful wails.
"The party's already started!"
"let's go then"
"All Might's attention is on us" Izuku whispered "Jiro-san, are you ready?"
At Jiro's nod, Izuku turned back to All Might, creating letters in the air using his quirk.
'WE-CAN-HEAR-YOU-GIVE-INFO.'
"The villains have taken over the tower"
Izuku blinked as he heard All Might's voice, almost in his mind. It should only have been Jiro who could hear, yet somehow…
'Who knew Observation Haki would mean super hearing'
"they have control of the security system and everyone including the heroes on the island have been taken hostage. Make your way out of here and get somewhere safe till this blows over."
Izuku stared at his mentor.
'NOT-HAPPENING.'
"…there should be a security room of sorts which controls the bindings. Shut down and restart the lights through the building once as a signal before undoing the bindings. I will do the rest."
'MUCH-BETTER.'
Izuku nodded while Jiro briefed the others on the plan.
"…I'm counting on you."
'LEAVE-IT-TO-US.'
With that, Izuku turned around, ready to get to work.
"I cannot help but disagree" Iida said frankly. "we should follow All Might's initial instructions and exit the premises."
"You go ahead and do that" Izuku said, ripping of his tie and pulling out the full gauntlet in its wristband form from his pocket and snapping it on.
"I'm glad you bought it" Melissa said.
"Yeah, I've just started assuming villain attacks are going to happen" Izuku sighed, grabbing a metal pole in the shape of a blunt sword from Momo "thanks for the sword."
"It's not going to be very durable" Momo said, lips pursed "try to avoid going too wild please."
Izuku stared at her.
"Too much to even hope, huh" she sighed.
"Yaoyorozu" Iida gasped "why are you allowing this?"
"Why?" Momo blinked "because he has a license and All might's permission, so technically we'd be working as sidekicks beside Temporary hero: Beacon. There's no way I'd let him go at this alone"
"I agree" Todoroki said firmly "And Midoriya might be too nice to say this, but I'm not. Midoriya is the class president, not you Iida."
Iida looked like he'd been slapped.
"If you both want to evacuate with Iida, it's cool" Izuku said to the waiter duo of Kaminari and Mineta.
"No way" Kaminari protested "I'm not running away while you go running into danger."
"I cannot leave either" Iida said, slightly subdued.
"I'm coming along too of course" Jiro said.
"Me too" Uraraka cheered.
The whole group turned to Mineta.
"…Fine! I'll do it too!"
While everyone cheered, Izuku turned to Melissa.
"I hate to say it, but we'll probably need you with the systems."
"I wouldn't have let you keep me back anyway" she said with a smile "I'm the only one who can change the settings of the security system."
"We'll make sure to keep you safe" Momo said, removing her heels and replacing them with normal shoes "girls, come here to change your footwear please."
"We should make sure we can fight comfortable too" Iida said as he tore off the lower-back part of his pants to clear the path for his engines.
Todoroki took off his blazer as well while Kaminari and Mineta pulled of their little bowties.
"all right, let's go!"
