Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Yuuki

We are escorted by Kagali into Yuuki's office as soon as she recognizes us. Of course the three amigos got left behind but that is to be expected. When I arrive I look around. It looks exactly like it does in the anime.

As we wait for Yuuki we Rimuru and I talk for a bit just to pass the time. Yuuki apparently would take a while to show up so talking a bit is a good choice to pass the time. Not to mention the fact that we rarely talk casually because of how busy we both end up being. After a while we finally hear the door open. As the door opens we put our masks back on.

The mask being on only means one thing. As Yuuki opens the door he sees Rimuru with Shizue's mask on and makes an angry looking expression before attacking Rimuru. Not a bad way to test Rimuru's power out, Yuuki. Great excuse.

Rimuru calmly blocks the attack before telling Yuuki to calm down. When he doesn't he says that "I'm not a bad slime!" catchphrase that appears over and over. This immediately stops him.

Rimuru gives a basic overview of why we are here which I ignore as I use [Genius] to analyze him.

{Notice- Unique Skill [Genius] has been activated.}

I analyze everything from the way he's moving around to his facial expressions. He's a good actor I gotta admit with very few cracks in his facade. However, there is that slight air of distrust around him as he moves with those slightly over the top reactions of his. I doubt I would have ever tried to analyze him without good incriminating evidence had I not known that he is evil ahead of time.

Something else I notice is the fact that odds are, with the way I act and think if I didn't have a conscience I probably wouldn't be far off from him. Hell, in some aspects we are almost the same. It's honestly a really interesting comparison.

As I snap out of my internal monologue I realize Rimuru is already making manga for Yuuki. Seems like more time than I thought has passed. As Yuuki, with some genuine excitement according to my [Genius] analysis, looks through the manga, Rimuru finally moves on to the main point of this meeting.

He asks, "Yuuki, I came here to save the kids. That's why we came to this nation. Do you understand the situation?"

Yuuki looks and in a serious voice says, "I do, but this is not a simple matter unfortunately."

"I understand but I want to complete what she started. I'm going to fulfill her will and save those kids."

"I see, if it was my teacher's will then I shall entrust them to you, however we must discuss their current situation and their past before further action."

As this conversation continues I sit there bored. I already know all this! Well, I might as well read one of these. It's been a while since I sat down and read one.

Bending down and picking a volume up I open the manga and start reading it. I learned to read Japanese pretty easily with [Great Sage] and [Genius] so reading it isn't a problem. Its clear the manga isn't one I know of though and thanks to it opening in the middle of a fight scene I have no idea what's happening. Still more entertaining than listening to Rimuru though.

Halfway through their conversation Rimuru brings up that we are both otherworlders to which he asks where I'm from. I'm not paying attention however so I end up getting caught off guard, "Eh, oh, uh, I'm from America."

Yuuki thinks about this response for a bit and says, "American. Not many of those end up here to my knowledge. How did you end up here?"

Obviously can't say some giant floating god sent me here. A bright flash appears in my vision blinding me for a split second. Dammit, not now.

I lie to Yuuki and say I died and suddenly appeared here. As simple as that. Rimuru looks at me for a bit after my response due to knowing a little bit more about my arrival here than Yuuki but he seems to respect the choice to keep my arrival a secret because he acts like I'm telling the truth and moves on. Gotta make sure though.

{Notice- Unique Skill [Sage's Link] has been activated.}

"Just to make sure Rimuru. You won't tell him more about how I got here right? I need you to know you can't tell him under any circumstance without my permission."

"I have an idea of why you would keep it a secret but why exactly?"

"Remember how I said a strange god-like being sent me here?" A bright flash appears in my vision but I tough it through and continue, "The discovery of an entity like that will definitely destroy the world's balance over time like toppling dominoes." Not being able to bear it longer I stop before I specify.

"How?"

"It just will, okay?"

{Notice- Unique Skill [Sage's Link] has been deactivated.}

After our quick talk over [Sage's Link] Rimuru makes a clearly slightly confused face which Yuuki immediately notices. When Rimuru realizes that Yuuki is looking at him he immediately goes back to a more calm and serious face. Good to see he's not a complete idiot when it comes to noticing his surroundings.

The conversation with Yuuki goes on for a few more hours. For the most part this is just to help clarify what is cut out for us. How the school works, what room the students are in, etc. For the most part I know this but some of this ends up being new information for me which is interesting. As the conversation draws to a close and Rimuru prepares to leave Rimuru asks if I'm ready to go. I ask for a quick second with Yuuki alone to which he is fine with and walks out.

Yuuki innocently asks, "So, what can I help you with?"

An evil smile appears on my face as I activate all my intimidation based skills. "Cut the bullshit. You can stop pretending."

Yuuki looks a little less innocent as he asks, "What do you mean?"

"Don't act all innocent. You can't fool me. You're planning something and that involves Rimuru." To avoid suspicion I obviously can't reveal I know everything about him but I can get away with some information bombs. "I can't tell what you're planning but I do know one thing. You want to use us. Sorry, but I'm not about to let that happen."

He goes from happy-go-lucky to emotionless real fast. As his gaze attempts to pierce through me with a slightly aggressive tone he asks, "How did you know?"

Returning his threatening gaze with my own version I say, "You're an interesting person, Yuuki. You're just like me in some aspects. You're manipulative, using people as pawns as you play the chess game of life." I stand up and walk towards him as I say, "Of course, there's a big difference between you and I. You don't have much of a conscience and that makes you dangerous." As the smile creeps back I comment, "You were never gonna hide this from me Yuuki. I can read manipulative people like a book. Doesn't matter how hard they try to hide it. After all…" I point my thumb in my direction as I lean down in front of Yuuki, "I'm one of them."

He looks at me with a mildly angry face. He's obviously wary of me and that's my goal.

I pay his head as I say, "Now, no need to worry Grandmaster Yuuki Kagurazaka. I'm not going to get in your way or anything, I have my own agenda, you have yours. No need to get in each other's way." As I walk away I continue, "Just don't use us and everything will be okay, got that?"

As I walk away I add one final comment. I ask, "Oh, and one last thing. Is it okay if you can get me an S Rank adventurers card? I'm trying to do some adventure for fun you know and I don't think this will get me some worthy challenges." I show him my card. "If you can get me a new card, that would be great." As I say this I open the door and get ready to leave.

I turn around and get one last good look at Yuuki with a massive evil smile on my face. He's hiding it, but he's obviously furious. I know way too much. He obviously wants me dead but of course, he can't do shit. I'm completely safe right now and he knows it.

"See ya, friend!"

During the meal that night the three amigos ask us what happened. This is where Rimuru reveals that he's going to become a teacher, manipulating his body to give him a stereotypical teacher moustache. The three of them react as expected. "Eeeeh!" I also ended up roped in as Rimuru's assistant teacher but to be honest, wouldn't it make more sense for me to be the teacher? I'm way smarter than Rimuru, no offense.

Suddenly Rimuru also asks, "Wait, Migeru, why did you stay behind for a little bit?" I smile a little as I calmly say in the nicest voice possible, "I just wanted to get to know the guy a little more. He seemed like a nice guy."

Fast forward to next morning. The three amigos decided to leave to continue their adventuring work due to Rimuru and I having to go to work, weird saying that but it's the closest I will ever get to getting a normal job again. Yuuki succeeded in getting us the job as well as getting me my S Rank adventurers card by pulling some strings. Rimuru got one too to his surprise, a nice bonus I guess.

After they leave Rimuru and I go to the school's library to see if Rimuru can find anything to help save them. Of course he finds nothing but I guess it's a good effort. As I see Rimuru flip through the books using [Great Sage] to read them in their entirety near instantly getting weird looks from the people nearby I contemplate just straight up telling Rimuru. After a bit of thinking I realize the effects on the timeline that come from changing this aren't that drastic so I go up to him and tell him.

I poke his shoulder to get his attention as he asks, "Did you find something?"

I cross my arms overconfident commenting, "If you need help with this Magicule related problem you could just ask me. Your brother who has been researching Magicules for the past year standing right next to you."

Immediately looking at me with hope knowing I wouldn't say this without actually knowing how to fix this he asks, "You know how to help them?"

"Yes, remember what Shizu said happened after she got summoned as a child?"

I watch as he thinks carefully about what I just said. I can tell when he asks his [Great Sage] because his face changes to that of someone who is waiting for an answer. Suddenly his face lights up. "Ifrit! A high spirit might be able to save them!"

"Bingo. Of course, we still have to find the Dwelling of the Spirits, though. We don't know where that is and that's the most consistent way to find spirits."

"Still, that's a start."

Leaving the library with Rimuru in a much better mood we start walking towards the classroom. Classes should start soon. As Rimuru opens the door [Great Sage] immediately detects a relatively strong sword coming our way. Rimuru dodges it while I catch it.

"Not bad, kid. Gotta say, that was pretty good. But of course, you still swung at your teachers. You probably shouldn't do that."
