Chapter 166 - Drama

The good times didn't last too long for some of us however as Mordy ended up breaking up with Moxxi before things got too serious. The reason was ironically because he was too busy doting on Bloodwing to do the same with his actual girlfriend apparently. He was the tiniest bit salty about it since he didn't see a problem with it but I wasn't going to be the one to burst that bubble of his. Moxxi moved on to this skinny but polite enough programmer who apparently came in on the satellite by the moon named Jack.-

Something about the guy bothered me but I couldn't finger what exactly even after digging into the guys background. As far as I could tell he was just a talented programmer that suffered a serious loss some years back and then rebound in a powerful way as he was one of the first people to jump at the Eridium on Pandora and profited from it immensely. When I couldn't find anything that stood out in his past I chose to ignore the guy since it wasn't my problem anyways.-

That relationship didn't last long anyways for Moxxi as apparently the guy was TOO nice somehow and it bothered her. I could only shake my head at that as clearly her standards for men were all over the place as even I saw nothing wrong with the guy other than the strange feeling he gave me. Soon enough though I got my land deed to an area with rich Eridium deposits and headed over to Eden 6 to get the deal in paper between the old man and I. Before that I had my own fabricator thing spit out another for him to use as we had agreed upon previously.-

With this everything was in place for the complete collapse of Atlas and my subsequent acquisition of it. I considered working to kick the company while it was down to speed things up but chose not to as I wanted the conversion from Atlas to Drake to be smooth and that took a slow and steady approach. It was a little annoying the company was selling off it's less important planets to drag things out but it did give me the opportunity to purchase the archeological rights to Pandora. Technically I could have just bought the planet outright if I wanted to but I honestly only wanted the Eridian stuff here.-

There was a slight meeting between me and the Hyperion representative on planet, Mr. Burke, about potential clashes of interest in the mining of Eridium. We settled it easily enough with an agreement that I'd get to look over the ruins they found digging for the rare mineral first before letting them tear it all down if necessary. So long as I scanned the structure I could in a way preserve it in a three dimensional model for deeper examination later so it wasn't a big deal in my opinion.-

There was a little annoyance in the matter of if they unearthed extra ruins or more after my initial visit to the site but after some back and forth we agreed that I could not visit the same site more than three times for ruins before my right to it expired. Of course I could just turn fucking invisible and then ignore that if I wanted to so really unless they found a vault or something I likely would just do that more often then not. Other than that however life was quiet and as peaceful as it could be on Pandora.-

I by now had my startup prototypes fully tested and ready for mass production once I got my hands on the production facilities of Atlas. The league was uncovering more Eridian ruins at a steady pace and ACTUALLY digging them out this time(yes I complained to Vater about that) and my friends were all living well. I knew something was up. Shit doesn't just "work out" so fucking easy in this reality so there was a serious problem coming. For the life of me though I couldn't fathom what.-

(3rd person POV Helios station Jack's office)

"What's the word on the laser?" Jack asked seemingly no one as he leaned back in his seat in his needlessly large office room.

"Ninety three percent complete. It should be done within three days." The Angel said from a speaker on his desk.

"Good. And the readings we found of a potential vault?" Jack asked with a satisfied nod.

"An eighty percent match of all the other known vaults on record. The remaining twenty percent is unknowable due to an unknown type of interference around the signal." the angel said calmly.

"Works for me. Try and triangulate the source of the signal and look for some vault hunters to help me open it." Jack said casually.

"Why not just contact the previous group or HIM alone?" The angel asked.

"That lot were useful to get through Atlas and the rest of that savage planets obstacles but they are also chaotic enough that they could endanger everything. Alex on the other hand is a last resort option. He's a nuke. You don't start out a war by using the nuke but only use it if left with no other option." Jack said seriously.

"I understand, you want vault hunters who are good but also will listen to orders without any problems." The angel said with a small sigh of relief.

"Four or five should do for this. Take your time though, we aren't in a rush." Jack said calmly as he shut his eyes to rest them.

(Normal POV)

With my business with Hyperion done with I suddenly found myself with an abundance of free time and no idea what to do with it. I considered just going to chow down on asteroids until I got some form of inspiration but that seemed stupid.-

The lifeforce would be nice and all but that was a pretty monotonous task and would more likely than not just leave me blank for however long it takes something to happen. In the end I chose to just focus my time and energy on expanding my fleet of collection and protection bots for my refiners as I made more of the things. Really the progress I was making was astonishing here as you couldn't even see the trash from New Haven now. I had even set up a few refiners on the trash coast with amphibious collection and protective bots to clean the oceans as well.-

With my focus being on this the progress of the cleanup was speeding up exponentially as the amount of refiners I had out was starting to run out of stuff to refine. That vast amount of trash had all been for the most part cleared off the land within three days and all that was left was the ocean. That caused a serious slowing of the refinement rate as the waters of Pandora were NOT safe places. Many of those massive skeletons on the land were not skeletons in the waters if you went deep enough.-

You'd think that would make me want to go down there looking for trouble and traits but you'd be wrong. I took one such trip and learned real fast that being swallowed alive by the equivalent to a massive armored goldfish was not worth the trouble. Barely had the lifeforce worth the trouble too. Honestly besides the sheer size of the things the creatures in the depths weren't worth dealing with at all, a real fucking let down.
