Chapter 164 - Elpis

I did end up having to get a second copy of the [Adaptive camouflage] trait for Mordy who wanted it but I had no problem at all with that. Quite the opposite really as it was a step in the right direction for my hope of enhancing all of my friends in time. Still Bloodwing seemed the most thrilled in this exchange as she was freed of her harness that she tossed away like an annoyance without hesitation. -

"I was wondering what you were going to do with those enclosures but stuff from Pandora?" Lil said shaking her head. "Never thought you'd grab that."

"Why not? They are easy to care for and would be a nice touch of home when i'm away from the planet. What's not to love?" I said with a chuckle.

"Consider Pandora your home now huh?" Mordy said teasingly.

I shrugged "What can I say except it grew on me." I said unbothered.

"Funny since I remembering you complaining the most out of all of us about it." Roland said.

"I'm not saying the place is great or anything but it feels like home, a comfortable sort of bad if that makes any sense." I said with a grin.

"Speaking of bad Roland and I are dating." Lil said and no one reacted at all leaving her dumbfounded.

"You guys knew?" Roland asked in surprise at this.

I chuckled "No offense man but you two weren't nearly as secretive about it as you thought. Hell it'd be easier to tell you the times you WEREN'T making goo goo eyes at each other. You've caught literally no one off guard here." I said amused.

"Had a bet going and everything about when you'd make it official. Brick won by the way." Mordy said with a shrug.

"You guys bet on our love life!?" Lil Exclaimed in horror.

"Pandora can be a boring place sometimes." I said with a shrug.

It was rather amusing how flustered the two of them got at learning how unsurprising this development was. The next couple of days were slow and boring after that. I barely had anything to do as I had already done everything I needed to and just going out and slaughtering the local fauna was boring without a challenge.-

Thankfully my boredom was cured when a Hyperion orbital station came out of warp near Elpis(Pandora's moon) and settled in place like a giant Hyperion logo in the sky. The angel sent me a message to come to the station to hand over the eye for the Eridian research knowledge. I naturally fast traveled up to my ship and then docked it in the bay of the station since the fast travel station wasn't up yet on the station. It felt a bit odd how the inside of the station seemed so unusually empty at the moment. -

"You must be the one I was told to expect. Just leave the thing here and take this chip that holds your payment." A man in Hyperion yellow and white armor said dismissively as I looked around.

"Rude but I suppose that makes sense for a peon." I said with a sneer.

The man bristled at this and looked like he was about to draw his weapon before he looked distracted and then paled. No doubt he had just gotten an echo telling him exactly who and what I was. Honestly it was kinda pathetic that the big ass glowing green wings didn't tip him off that maybe he should be a bit more respectful and he needed to be told.-

Whatever the case I took out the eye and retrieved my payment from the now nervous grunt and left for the moon. I had been meaning to visit Elpis for some time as it had a couple of interesting species living on it. The first was the threshers that honestly looked like giant sperm with extra tentacles and a wide mouth. They were hard carapaced creatures that didn't require oxygen to survive and had evolved somehow on the moon. The second creature was the Kraggons. These were purely elemental creatures that honestly defied explanation. They had bodies composed entirely of stone and whatever element they had of which fire and ice were the only options.-

The few people who actually lived on Elpis before the cataclysm known as "the crackening" caused the moon to crack and break in several places considered them the moons wrath as they only appeared after that event. More likely than not they were simply a subterranean species and surfaced after that damage exposed their environment to the surface. Whatever the case they didn't breath and if large enough split into two or more smaller Kraggons when slain. Appearance wise they looked like they belonged in a fantasy as their bodies were almost like small dragons that were missing the wings.-

Add on the fact their bodies were comprised entirely of stone and elemental power and you get the picture. As far as the crackening was concerned it was Dahl's fault honestly. The company had mined the moon so aggressively that the thing broke and only roughly held itself together through gravity. Landing on the moon with my ship I walked out onto it's surface and bounced a few times to get used to the lowered gravity here before setting off to find one or both of my chosen preys.-

Finding a Kraggon was easy as they roamed the surface near the pools of lava or frozen methane and were hostile to any and all things that weren't them. Their traits were interesting though as they didn't have a body trait like normal but rather [Elemental lifeform-Epic grade]. Beyond that their traits were fully geared towards their element or reproduction with the [Fatal splitting-Epic grade] and [Elemental embodiment(insert element here)-Legendary grade] traits. Naturally I collected a full set of these with both ice and fire elements. -

The reproduction trait I left alone as I saw it was useless to anything not made of elements and stone like them. They didn't have much lifeforce but I suppose that made sense as they likely only survived by absorbing the fire or ice type stuff near them and died if it ran out. Threshers being the burrowing menaces they were also proved fairly easy to find as they inhabited all of this moon along with a few other less than nice things. I specifically meant the Torks. Small annoying hive bug things covered in solid thick armored chitin.-

They were a similar species to Ratch in that they reproduced fast as hell, were invasive as fuck and attacked anything that moved near them. They didn't have that nice vitality trait though so really they were at best a second rate species in comparison. The threshers proved to be the key to living in space without air as they possessed the trait [Solar respiration-Epic grade] That let them draw the energy they needed from the sun in the absence of an atmosphere. They had apparently survived the crackenings dissipation of the moons atmosphere thanks to this trait being part of their hybrid plant nature.
