Chapter 2 - Kinn messed up

"Get up! Get up! It's 7 already. Wake up, or you will be late today" says Mrs Harley while tugging back the curtains.

Mrs Harley goes downstairs to prepare breakfast. Kinn remembers it's a presentation day and hurries up to leave. Suddenly he hears someone yelling and rushes down. It was Mr Steve, the caretaker, and his son who were quarreling. It was not the first time Mr Steve's son caused ruckus in their house. He often came to their house to get more money for his expenses.

Kinn didn't want to get himself into the trouble. He just wanted to stop Mr Steve's son. But as usual, his forthrightness pulled him into a conflict. He lost his control and ended up spanking his face, it turned into an ugly fight leaving Kinn with a bruised face.

Mrs Harley warns Kinn and asks Steve to throw his son out of their house. Looking at Kinn's bruised face, his mother reprimanded him.

"You know your father would throw you out of the house if he saw you fighting with a drunkard. And you still chose to get yourself into stupid conflict,"

"Come here, let me apply some ointment to your face", said Mrs Harley.

Kinn initially refuses to apply anything as he has no time but her mother didn't let him off.

Kinn knew he messed up. While driving his car, he saw his face in the mirror.

"What a beginning of a day!" Kinn exclaims banging the steering wheel.

"I need to present our assignment today, but my face says otherwise".

He saw Peter and Allen waiting at the entrance. "What's with this look?" asks Peter. "You don't know what day it is".

"I know. I'll tell you after the class. Now let's go", but Allen pulls Kinn back before he could enter the seminar hall.

"Now what?" Kinn asks.

"Don't tell me you forgot to fetch the report from Mrs Morrison", Allen reminds him with a smirk on his face.

"Damn!!!....wait for me in the class. I'll be back soon," and Kinn rushes to the Literature department.

He reached Mrs Morrison's office. With shortness of breath, he asks for the report.

"Oh! I gave it to Meg. I thought you weren't coming. So I told Meg to bring it to you. She must be waiting for you", Mrs Morrison told him, to hurry back.

Kinn was flustered but on second thought his mind went blank that he has to face Meg in this condition. But he consoled himself with the idea that she hardly ever take a look at anyone's face. It was intriguing that he cared about his guise. With little hesitation, he walks up to the seminar hall and sees Meg at the door.
