Chapter 260 - Philosophy

Chapter 260 Philosophy

The Alliance operating in the area used to be a smaller group when I was younger and still under the care of Rebel and the others. They gained considerable influence shortly after Rebel and her group's defeat. I have my suspicions about how they achieved this new status. They might have secret backers with strong connections or have established significant influence over the local lord. It's also possible that they have recruited someone powerful who can leverage their influence, allowing the Alliance to assert its dominance.

That's enough speculation for now; they are doing us a good deed since they've been supporting me and the other camp supervisors," Daniel explained, picking at the fish on his plate.

Rebel looked surprised. "Oh, so they have become such a significant influence. If that's true, it is rather strange. However, there isn't much we can do right now except lay the groundwork to rebuild this camp and expand its influence, just like they did. Although we would need to wait until the rest of our group has recovered if we wanted to do anything drastic."

Aleshia listened intently to their conversation, gradually piecing together insights about the Alliance. She said, "If the Alliance is actively supporting people and groups like you and this camp, Daniel, they seem like an organization we should consider aligning with. To put it bluntly, have you thought about securing a stronger position for this camp within the Alliance? I may not know all the details, but from what you've shared about their efforts, they appear to be a worthwhile ally. I wouldn't mind learning about their values and the support they offer." Aleshia suggested.

Daniel and Rebel exchanged glances before Daniel began to explain the Alliance's philosophy. "The Alliance believes in promoting a doctrine of peace, particularly among the slum residents who are willing to listen. They engage in charitable activities, such as supporting orphanages and camps like this one, without expecting anything in return. They take in street children whose parents have died from sickness or in battle, including children of adventurers and soldiers protecting the city from intruders and monsters. They gather these children together and send them to the orphanages they aid, and in return for taking care of the children, the Alliance supports the orphanages with their influence."

Aleshia nodded at Daniel's words and his explanation about the Alliance, which sounded promising; however, the way he spoke suggested there was unspoken tension between him and the Alliance that remained unaddressed.
