Sophie smiled to herself as she looked at the gruesome scene, a dark satisfaction curling her lips. This should haunt him for the rest of his miserable existence, she thought with quiet triumph.
Without hesitation, she moved toward the door, eyes narrowing to sharp slits. With a quick, practiced slash of her hand, the soundproof barrier dissolved silently.
"Nexus…" she called to her system in a low voice, a strange eerie smile playing across her features.
"TIME FREEZE!" she commanded sharply, as she open the door immediately.
"[Time Freeze: Activated.]" her system replied.
A pulse rippled through the hospital. In a blink, everything stilled.
The ticking clocks halted. IV drips hung mid-drip. Air froze mid-motion. Human noise vanished — no heels clicking, no pages rustling, no heart monitors beeping. It was as though reality had taken a breath and forgotten to exhale.
