Chapter 257 - Bootcamp 2.0

"Listen up noobs! For the next week you can forget the idea of relaxation! I'm going to drill an adventurers foundation into all of you and that means suffering! You're gonna run till you collapse then do sit ups and push ups till you can't move! Then I'm going to speed up your recovery process before making you do it all over again! You WILL be miserable and if any of you try and slack off I'll personally take you to spar till you are bloody and broken before I fix you right up! Now get to running!" I barked with a grin at the newly minted adventurers.

Clearly some of them thought I was joking as Evrain and Alucard both half assed their run only for me to drag them over to the sparring area and beat them down till they were half dead before fixing them up good as new. None of the newbies thought I was joking after that. Out of all of them though Jin was by far my favorite as the squirt had spunk if nothing else. I said run till he collapsed and he did. I said do sit up till he couldn't and he did. Not a single complaint or gripe about any of it.-

Hestia looked on from the distance but even after beating down the two I had she didn't step in as she knew I wouldn't go too far. It was brutal sure but with my help literally fixing their bodies of any damage they got their improvement was meteoric. All of them raised their endurance, agility, dexterity and strength stats from (I) to (H) by the end of the week. In addition to that they were now mentally tough enough not to immediately panic if they got an injury. -

"Now that your foundation is in place we will now move on to the next step of your training, Weaponry. Here before you I have a single example of every type of weapon currently in use to my knowledge including my own. You are free to try each and every one to find the one that most appeals to you instinctively, get to it." I said as I motioned to the racks of weapons I had set up.

This was an unavoidable test unfortunately as most familias started a newbie out with a sword until they got strong enough to handle a weapon of their choice. I needed to know their preferences immediately however to prepare higher leveled gear of that sort for them. I may hold off on the properties and techniques for these things till I got a better grasp of their fighting styles but creating the blank weapons early would save me time later. I considered creating growth type weapons but chose not to as it was wasteful for people who may just die on their first delve. A harsh thought to have but statistics don't lie.-

Alucard ended up taking a whip, Evrain a spear, Jin a set of claws, Gion a claymore and Sasha a staff. Alucard taking the whip of all things came as a surprise as most didn't consider the weapon very good but the rest were all within expectation. amazoness tended to favor spears and heavy weapons and Werewolves favored pugilistic weapons. Sasha was a mage though and so a staff was an expected weapon for her to choose. Her magic wasn't anything special though as it was an ice projectile type spell with a three line chant. -

"Now that you have chosen your weapon it's time you learned how to use them. I will serve as your target for this as it's best if you get used to the idea of attacking other people now than have to come to terms with it in the dungeon after someone tries to rob or murder you. Adventuring is not all glory and friendship and positivity, it's a brutal life. Some turn to crime for profit or even just to satisfy their twisted fetishes. Others think their strength makes them above the law, all of them exist and you might meet in the dungeon. When that time comes I don't want any of you to freeze up and die when it can be avoided." I said seriously.

To say the next part of the training was grueling for them would be plain wrong, it was humiliating. I stood completely unharmed even as they threw half assed attacks at me or failed to achieve even that. Alucard hurt himself more than he ever hit me with the whip as he learned the hard way what a metal tipped fast moving object smacking you in the chest, back and face was like. I fixed the damage he caused before telling him to try again till he figured it out.-

I couldn't help him since I myself had no fucking clue how to use a whip besides swinging it forward. For Evrain and Gion I gave them some tips as they tried and failed to cause me to even twitch out of place with their weapons. For Jin my advice was pretty simple, don't expect to spear through someone or a monster with those claws. They were better used like many daggers dragged across the hide of their target while the wearer moves around as fast as possible.-

For Sasha I told her to run in a circle around me while trying to channel her magic. Most people think concurrent casting is something best learned after getting used to using magic in general but I disagreed. To me a mage should learn how to use their magic on the move from the get go or they are just one big easy target needing protection. These newbies had doubts about attacking me at first but quickly learned they literally COULDN'T hurt me. I was like a solid mass of orichalcum that their attacks sparked off of harmlessly.
