Chapter 24 - 24. Decisions and Interactions 1

Tyama was paralyzed again.

Lucien continued.

"You said it yourself, you still feel this need to fight against us, and yet you stayed here all this time and only provoked us verbally and never tried to incite us to do anything. And from what I've seen of your race, that means a lot ." He said smiling calmly and confidently.

"And the question is why. Why do you still agree to talk to us?, why do you still refuse to become like others?, why have you listened to us until now on matters that don't really concern you?" He said and came closer to her. "Why did you consider accepting our help and come up with a plan to convert others to accept it too?"

Lucien walked away and looked at Tyama, who in turn could only stare without saying anything at Lucien. Then he lowered his head and his multicolored locks moved restlessly, as did his tail.

"Because it shouldn't, as I said, our race is proud but we breathe strength. Even if we don't recognize it in anyone who isn't of our species. And you are strong, unimaginably strong, at least for us." She said without looking up.

"And not only that, you are also dirty, some more than others, in several matters. I believe that if my species wants to advance, it will only use our strength and the knowledge of those who have already died, still blurred with their own emotions and ways of thinking. seeing the world, it won't be enough. If it were, the world wouldn't have stayed the way it is now, wouldn't it" she concluded, giving Lucien the biggest and most sincere smile.

'I said she's exceptional, didn't I.' (Lu)

'Yes, yes, you're always right, don't keep counting victory brat.' (Vz)

'Hahahaha, but that's not good now we can continue with our projects without worrying about a potential lizard attack.' (Hok)

'Considering that we now also have bipedal, rational lizards, calling drakians lizards might not be a good idea.' (Eth)

'Not that it was ever a good idea.' (La)

Everyone gave a small laugh, which didn't go unnoticed by Tyama but she decided not to ask, still trying to absorb the confidence that Lucien had shown and fighting against the rejection that the inheritance kept trying to force on her.

"Very well then we will have to ask you to organize a meeting between Mr. Lucien and his elders to hand over my head, can you do that little caterpillar?" Maeelus asked standing up.

"Ohhhhh, you really have nerve you pale remnant, normally I would come at you and rip you limb from limb with my fangs. But considering you'll soon be headless I'll let this one slide." She said with one of the veins saturating and the strands standing up on their own.

Maeelus, in turn, just found her reaction amusing and couldn't resist playing more.

"Huhuhum, well thank you very much, Lady of the Crimson Fields of the Silver Mountain." He said the main title by which Tyama was known among her kind in a low-key but strangely non-disrespectful tone, complete with a slight bow.

Which obviously angered Tyama even more, just as Maeelus wanted. But before she could crush Maeelus' head, she remembered both that it would be his head that would be handed over and another important detail.

"There, by the way, Shadow Without Owner, why were you and the others so indifferent to the fact that you lost your head, aren't you afraid of dying?" She asked.

"Um? Oh!, that. Of course you wouldn't know." Maeelus said with a smile he used specifically to both incite and irritate.

Which worked very well since Tyama almost forgot about the informal agreement and went after him, almost.

"If necessary, we can transfer our consciousnesses to our databases, the cyberneural hub, and then place them back in our bodies, we use this when we are injured beyond toleration in combat." Maeelus explained.

"That's why you couldn't find Mister Lucien a few years ago, as his body was regenerating while his mind was in the cyberneural hub." Anari said.

"And I imagine this regeneration is..."

"Yes, in a special chamber made by us and our companions, at the closest point to the Nexus." Maeelus said indifferently.

"Is it okay if I know that?"

"It won't change anything, you lizards are always trying to reach the Nexus anyway. The inherent desire to absorb more MATER particles is in your DNA. After all, your bodies managed to adapt to the mutations so well that the more you absorb, the more developed you become." Ulik said

"One strange thing about this is how ineffectively these enhancements are passed on to their descendants." Ethel spoke with genuine care. "For as long as I can remember it's been like this with your species, out of 10 eggs, 2 being able to inherit their parents' characteristics is rare, the rest are lucky to be able to hatch."

"And are you going to say that this method you created, in addition to improving the fertility of my species, will also correct this detail?" Tyama asked, half dismissively and half hopefully.

"Hmm... Not necessarily, no matter how hard we've tried over the last 300 years, it seems that your own inheritance simply refuses to increase the chances of more descendants having the full characteristics of their parents." Lauriel said something regarding "their gift for the first time.

"But on the other hand, we found a way to increase their chances of hatching, even though the chicks probably won't have great mental capabilities, and are less likely to have access to their shared neural network." Hooku-há said a little apprehensively.

"So the chances will increase from 2 puppies and 8 stillbirths, to 2 puppies and a few more animals with similarities?" Tyama asked with a closed face.

"It would be more like 15 eggs, of which up to 5 would definitely gain full access to their inheritance and access to the neural link. And 8 with the chance of achieving the same. Even though the chances are low." Maeelus said.

"Although it is still possible to increase these chances over time. Even today we are still researching its genome and the changes that the base pairs have there are different types of stimuli besides MATER particles." Lucien said

"So your method isn't completely completed and they still want to give it to you now even though there's a risk it won't help at all?" Tyama said irritably. " Why?"

She thought she used that word more today than any other day in her life.

"Because of these new beings." Old Zhun said in an indifferent voice. "Originally we intended to complete the genetic repair method to increase both fertility and the ability to inherit parental abilities. But with these new beings we were apprehensive about what their reaction would be towards them."

"It wouldn't be very good, I admit." Tyama said. "Which leads to the question of why you're so interested in them, it's not just because of their appearance that reminds them of the past, right?"

" No, but we believe they can help us with... certain ideas." Lucien said, not wanting to give any more details, nor did anyone else in the room actually.

Tyama decided not to ask any more, she had enough with her people to keep her busy with centuries. Even more so now with this method that could increase its population, what would already be busy has become even more so now.

"Anyway, I think this discussion has gone on long enough. So what do you say little caterpillar, are you going to help us and accept our help or are you going to do like the others and hiss and breathe fire from afar, but run as soon as we get close?" Maeelus asked sarcastically, but with a completely serious face.

Tyama didn't even think twice about answering this question, he had already considered this proposal from every side he could and the answer is obviously...

"I accept, and I won't lie when I say I'll be happy to be free of you for a while. But considering how this will be done I regret it immensely." She said finishing by lowering her head.

"AFFF, don't do that it's really weird." Maeelus said rolling his eyes.

"Especially because it won't be so bad if it's out of circulation for a while, I'll just be disappointed that I won't be able to do any research with any of these beings." He said with a look of genuine disappointment.

""" Ironically this may very well be a good thing"""

It was the thought shared by everyone in the room.
