-The State That Births Lightning-
"Excuse me what?" Izuku responded to All Might with a very dumbfounded face. Momo and Ochako in the meantime were having a very hard time keeping their laughter from coming out of their mouths. 'It was such a cool moment, it was so heartwarming! And then that! 'Eat this'
"Look kid, to receive One For All, you gotta take in some of my DNA… it's how the transfer process works, there's no other way, and this is the least disgusting way also" All Might responded scratching the back of his head, looking to the side feeling embarrassed now that this moment of awe and amazement had been ruined, though it was funny.
"O-Ok….." Izuku looked at the long piece of hair that All Might was holding out for him to take, it would be disgusting, but to receive One For All he would do it 'Don't think about it! Just get it over with!'. Reluctantly took the piece of hair and examined it, it was long and thick. 'I'm going to need to use so much mouthwash after this.
Izuku opened his mouth and put the hair in. He quickly swallowed it, this is a new low, forcing back his gag reflex a number of times. All the while Yaoyorozu was holding back chuckles and Uraraka burst out into laughter which was very upsetting to Izuku.
Izuku managed to finally get the hair down, though he still felt the same, he looked over his body to see if there was anything different about him before looking back up to his teacher."I don't feel any different at All Might." He said to the pro as he deflated.
The pro nodded, "That's because it's gonna take at least three hours for you to fully digest it, it's gotta go through your system, once that happens you should be able to use One For All." All Might told his successor, it made sense, it would take time for it to settle in. 'Well use might be an overstatement, he most likely is going to have to adjust to the power.' All Might thought.
"Makes sense, but what should we do until then?" Izuku questioned, All Might shrugged and Yayorozu took up a thinking pose, leaving Uraraka.
"Why don't we train until you digest it? And then we can see what you can do and then we go home!" Uraraka said with her usual bubbly personality.
"I believe that's a good idea." Yaoyorozu said while looking at Izuku and All Might.
"Seems like the best thing to do for now," Izuku said.
"Alright, you go get a good workout Young Midoriya!" All Might said while slapping the back of his successor. 'Is that what having a dad feels like?' Izuku shook the random thought out of his head and the trio got to work moving the last of the trash.
"Y-Yeah alright!" Izuku went with a stinging pain on his back. 'Even not in his muscle form, he still packs a punch!'
The three trained for the three hours with All Might overseeing everything, they had done everything, they had moved the trash over to an area where a truck would pick it up and take it to a junkyard, so their work was officially complete. Now with the time finished, All Might, Yaoyorozu, and Uraraka lined up on the beach to watch Izuku try to do a smash, nothing special, no pressure, he's got this.
'A leap of faith' Izuku breathed in and out trying to dispel his nervousness. This was supposedly one of the strongest quirks in the world and now he had it.
"You got this Midoriya-san!" Uraraka and Yaoyorozu both said, arms raised in the air, trying to encourage him since he looked VERY nervous.
'What if it's different from my own quirk, will it be hard to control? Maybe, FOCUS, just focus on bringing it out for now.'
In his defence All Might said that he could potentially blow his arms off when he first started his training so his nervousness was justified. 'He said that would happen if my body wasn't a proper vessel, I think my body might be pretty good now, just a leap of faith..'
"You got this Young Midoriya!" All Might said cupping his hands around his mouth to make himself louder now in his deflated form.
'Alright, you got this, just gotta let out a punch and see what happens then, let's go' Izuku said to himself "Alright!" Izuku cocked his arm back he tensed the limb for a second and then aimed it towards the ocean. "SmASH-" Izuku threw his fist forward, expecting an explosion of power, a hurricane to others, the weather to change, SOMETHING, but nothing happened.
Izuku retracted his and inspected it before yelling out, "Ahhh, All Might, can you help me out?!" Izuku asked his mentor. Holding his fist up and staring at it intensely. 'Why didn't anything happen?'
"Just clench your buttocks and yell out with everything you have Young Midoriya, preferably SMASH!" All Might screamed his advice. 'It works like a charm every time'
'How is that supposed to help' both Yaoyorozu and Uraraka thought as they stared at All Mi-
They stopped as they saw Izuku's arm glowing, sparks of electricity coming off of it. Izuku's arm stiffened, 'I can feel it, this is One For All, It's ready, it's burning, I can do this!' Izuku cocked his arm back once more and with a grin threw it forward "SMASH!" he screamed, splitting the ocean in half with the amount of wind and force that was produced by his One For All powered punch. 'I DID IT!'
"IT WORKED!" The girl screamed in sync, shocked as All Might's advice was….not the best. Ok let's be honest, it was complete trash.
"It always works out for me so I figured it would help." All Might said with a smirk as the three stared at the split in the ocean that Izuku had created, speaking of the greanette.
"All Mighttttttt!" Izuku screamed holding onto his now broken arm. 'IT CAN'T BLOW OF MY LIMBS BUT IT CAN SHRED EVERYONE BONE IN THEM!'
"Ah, Midoriya my boy!" All Might ran over to Izuku and held him, keeping Izuku from falling onto the ground since that was all he wanted to do right now. "Don't worry you'll be fine!"
"Are you sure, because that looks bad!" Uraraka screamed in worry, today had been a rollercoaster and she thought the ride ended, APPARENTLY NOT!
"That looks really bad, All Might!" Yaoyorozu said to the pro, getting her phone out to call an ambulance.
"He'll be fine! We need to get him to UA, there's someone there that can help!" All Might said to the two, freaking out because One For All might've caused some bruises when he first got it, but it wasn't THAT bad!
"Why would someone as UA be able to help?!" Izuku asked, still holding his arm. It hurt a lot, his entire arm felt like it had been through a shredder and then a meat grinder, then thrown into the sun, and finally ripped in half by All Might himself.
"That doesn't matter right now Young Midoriya, I'm sorry but you'll have to bear it for a little while.." All Might said to the boy that was having a hard time keeping tears from coming out.
"I'll call my limousine!" Momo told them as she started dialing on her phone.
"No that'll take too long!" All Might said as he buffed up cradling Izuku in his arms. "We're heading to UA, try to get there as soon as you can!"
"Alright, All Might!" Uraraka said, her gaze was focused on Izuku, his entire right sleeve was gone, probably due to the quirk and that left his mangled arm exposed, it looked bad!
"Yes sir!" Yaoyorozu responded, doing her best to look anywhere BUT the arm.
With that said All Might nodded and leaped into the air crossing over the town with a lot of wind being knocked around in the process. With that wind Izuku's arm flopped like a noodle. 'THAT DOES NOT FEEL GOOD!' He screamed to himself, he had barely any adrenaline, so it hurt A LOT.
While soaring through the sky Izuku surrounded his arm and shoulder in concrete, locking it in place so that it didn't flop in the wind like a wet noodle. It still hurt like hell but he could keep it in place now, without it feeling like it was getting cuts everywhere.
They started descending and soon arrived at the school.
Izuku would've been in awe about being at UA had he not been in so much pain.
All Might entered and ran past some of the dorm buildings and training gyms before entering the main building of the school.. 'Three halls down!' Many of the students looked confused as why would the Number One Hero be carrying a child through the UA campus? Many people tried to follow but All Might was just too fast for them to keep up, his successor was in a great deal of pain at the moment.
"How are you feeling Young Midoriya?" All Might asked the boy in his arms.
"I-I'm go-good!" Izuku responded, shaking around as All Might was moving too fast. 'As good as I can be right now…'
"We're about to reach Recovery Girl's office, don't worry you'll be fine!"
Soon as he finished that sentence they entered the heroine's office, slamming the door open, "Recovery Girl I need your assistance!"
An elder looking lady was on a desk, she looked bad at All Might and her gaze moved to the child in his arms, she sighed, hopped off her desk and moved over towards the door, she closed and locked it before turning back to the pro.
"Alright what happened?" The old woman dubbed Recovery Girl said to the pair as she smacked the larger one on the head with a cane, that looked like a syringe and overall really matched her nurse attire and then had All Might set the boy on a bed and then him on the forehead seemingly healing his broken arm.
"Go...smash...and...arm go…..boom….." Izuku said before he passed out from pain and exhaustion on one of the bed's in the nurse's office.
"Ah well I saw this kid on the beach with a broken arm, it seems he over exerted his quirk and ended up injuring himself…" The pro said, forming a LOT of sweat on his face. And his trademark smile being tugged at causing him to have more of a neutral face.
All he got in return was another smack on the head. "Toshinori, you fool. You can't lie to me. You finally got around to picking a successor and he's it, isn't he?" the old woman smacking All Might again on the arm this time though.
The man's shocked expression was all the evidence Recovery Girl needed.
"Ah, so I was right, I'm assuming he didn't use One For All correctly?" the heroine asked, staring at the sleeping boy. 'It must have been too much for his body to handle, not as bad as it could've been but not great either, but at least this is repairable.'
"Yes, that's correct, but he's a smart kid I'm sure he'll get. Plus we still have five more months until the entrance exam!" All Might said, cracking a smile on his face and giving the older heroine a thumbs up.
"I hope you're right about that." Recovery Girl sighed, the fact that the kid used an 100% smash with no prior training made it seem like he wasn't smart, but then again it could've been All Might being an awful teacher.
"Oh I'm sure he is." A small rat, bear, mouse? Looking thing responded from behind the two pro heroes, he was in a business suit that had a tiny vest that looked cute, though the smile on the creature's face made everyone feel uneasy.
"Ah, Principal Nezu what are you doing here?!" All Might asked the small creature shocked that he was in the room since Recovery Girl locked the door.
"Well when I heard my defense system was breached and saw that All Might was running through my school on my cameras I had to come see you for myself." Nezu said with a smile and a small chuckle "So, this is the next Symbol of Peace, is that right?" the three all stared at the sleeping figure of Izuku.
"Yes, he is sir!" All Might said almost like a proud dad.
"Well let's hope he can live up to your legacy."
All Might paused and nodded before looking at the boy that was being checked on, 'I'm sure he'll do great, he just needs time, and he'll train to reach a peak of power that eclipses even mine.'
Nezu's phone rang and he picked it up, "Ah Mic, what is it? Hmm yes." He lowered the phone and looked to All Might, "Are a Yaoyorozu and Uraraka with you?" He asked and the pro nodded, "I figured." He turned back to the phone, "Yes Mic, escort them to the infirmary, that'll be all, thank you."
Toshinori wondered what happened before he coughed into his hand 'Crap!' He quickly deflated, Recovery Girl grunted and went to find a box of tissues while Toshinori took a seat in a nearby chair, Nezu smiled and sat in a chair besides the pro.
"Overworked again I see." Nezu commented, Toshinori grumbled a bit before Recovery Girl came back with a box of tissues for him. "So Recovery Girl, how is Small Might going to be?"
"Small Might?"
"Small All Might you buffoon, and he'll be just fine Nezu, he needs to rest a bit after I use my quirk, he's passed out for now so I'm waiting for his body to get off of his high."
"I see, good, good, I'll leave him to you then, good luck." Nezu hopped out of his seat and left the infirmary.
Soon Izuku's friends arrived, they were assured by Recovery Girl that the boy would be ok. And all three of them took time to cut into All Might,
"Alright, all of you stand back, I'm going to heal him now. If he's anything like that oaf over there he'll spring right back up to shatter himself again." He grumbled. The three stepped away from the bed and waited for the youthful heroine to live up to her hype.
She walked up to the bed, having to use a small step ladder to be able to reach the young boy, leaned over his sleeping figure. And kissed him on the head.
'Huh?'
Yaoyorozu and Uraraka watched confused as Izuku's arm began to glow green. All Might imagined himself in Izuku's spot, a place where he had been many times. Izuku's arm went from a purple zigzag to the more normal beige hinge.
Recovery Girl stepped off of the ladder, '3, 2, 1-'
"LEAP OF FAITH!" Izuku yelled as he sprang up from the bed, 'I swear I was just in the void again..' Izuku thought.
He looked around and noticed he was in a hospital? Maybe, perhaps a nurse's office at a school. But he was at the beach, why was he at a school? He looked around and his gaze shifted down as he saw Recovery Girl.
"Avert your eyes!" Uraraka said as she covered her face, Yaoyorozu following suit. All Might and Recovery Girl raised eyebrows before the boy gained stars in his eyes and listed facts, new and old, about the Youthful Heroine. "One of the best healing quirks in the industry! You're an inspiration to a large amount of heroes who don't have combat prone quirks! There's no telling how many people and hospitals that you've helped over your 40 years as a pro hero! And while over the years you've lessened your hero work and focused more on your job at UA-" Izuku's eyes went blank as he finally realized something, "I'M AT UA!"
Izuku bounced on the bed once and in a streak of lightning was in front of Recovery Girl asking for an autograph and a tour if she had time.
"You're quite the energetic fellow, aren't you?"
Izuku stopped and blushed as he rubbed the back of his head, "Y-Yes I am, sorry for that Recovery Girl." He bowed to the pro, "And thank you for helping me in my time of need."
The pro snorted and looked to All Might, "Looks like this one has manners. Now all of you out, joint classes are today and the results are never good."
The three nodded and were escorted off campus by Present Mic, who was bombarded with questions and compliments by Izuku.
They were finally off campus and were walking towards the train station to head back to their part of the city, Toshinori cleared his throat, gaining the attention of his pupils, "Now just because we've had a long day and you three have come a long way, doesn't mean you get to slack off no, especially you Young Midoriya. Training will continue the way it's been for the past few months, though no trash cleaning, just sparring and research for your quirks and possible fighting style, understand?"
The three stared dumbfounded and the man and he recoiled, "Did I say something?"
"Huh? Uh sorry no, it's just, you seemed like an actual teacher for a second." Uraraka said.
Yaoyorozu and Izuku both agreed, sorrowing the man's mood slightly. But they agreed with what he said, their training had barely begun! They were just getting started and would do even better!
-Time Skip: 3 Months-
The trio had been working hard for the next 3 months each improving in their own ways.
Some of Yaoyorozu's creations that she would use often now didn't need thoughts to materialize, they were seamless now, and with a suggestion from Izuku, substituting other materials that would otherwise be hard to find, though that wasn't a problem for her because of her quirk, her usual staff she now made out of lighter and stronger metal, an aluminum, beryllium, titanium, and magnesium alloy, she was having trouble making the weapon mid battle since she was so used to her other staff, but it was coming along nicely.
Uraraka, while still getting nauseous when using her powers on herself, could lift more with her powers and could lift herself for half a minute before getting nauseous. She had been getting a lot better and had been working on a fighting style incorporating her quirk, mostly involving throws and palm strikes.
Izuku made minor improvements. His elemental powers had gotten boosted when he obtained One For All, but he had to use both of the quirks at the same time which was hard. And he still couldn't use the strength quirk to its full extent, which saddened him a bit. He had been able to put a limit on the quirk as after a while and his feeling of 100% he had been able to gauge percentages and had been able to lower his output as well, resting at a comfortable 5% now. But he still was too slow to fight both Momo and Ochako at the same time, which is what they would do after they finished cleaning the beach.
The task of switching One For All to different parts of the body and fighting two people at the same time was difficult. He could've used his own quirk but he was trying his damndest to get a grasp on One For All before the entrance exam, and he couldn't.
After losing for the millionth time Izuku decided to spend a whole day on simply thinking about an optimal way to use One For All. No training, no studying for school, no hanging out with Uraraka Yaoyorozu or Kacchan, just thinking about One For All.
Even in class he would mumble about it, no one said anything since he was at the top of the school alongside Bakugo and no one really knew what the boy was like. But if he was anything like his blonde friend they didn't want to incur his wrath.
It was the weekend and he was slumped over his desk in his room, scribbling on a notebook that he had used ONLY for his trouble with One For All, and the book already had 23 filled pages.
"Ahhhh! I'm not getting anywhere" He yelled before he sighed, "Maybe I can meet up with All Might and ask him for some help…" Izuku pondered as he sat in his room very frustrated as he couldn't think of anything that could help his situation. His dreams that helped him with problems before hadn't done anything now.
He'd been up since 4:30 and it was almost 2:00 in the afternoon, and he still hadn't gotten anything with One For All. 'I'm going to go crazy…' Izuku started pacing his room, mumbling about other heroes with super strength quirks, seeing if they could help his predicament, but heroes like Death Arms were nowhere near All Might's and then his was always on, which wouldn't help his situation!
"Izuku! There's someone here to see you!" Inko Midoriya, Izuku's mom, yelled from the kitchen.
Izuku sighed, he needed a distraction, he'd been working on this for too long, far too long. "Alright, coming mom!" Izuku put on his slippers and walked out to the living room. 'Who would want to see me right- "Ah, hello there Young Midoriya!" All Might in his true form said to his student.
"Al-Yagi-sensei what are you doing here?" Izuku asked covering up his slip up as fast as he possibly could. 'Why are you here!'
"Do you know this man Izuku?" Inko asked as she walked into the living room. She had never seen this man before.
"Y-Yeah, mom this is Yagi-sensei, Yagi-sensei this is my mom. He's been helping me train for the UA entrance exam for about eight months now, he;s also been making sure that I don't do anything reckless like the Sludge Incident or the Bakery Fire….." Izuku said to his mom then to All Might then back to his mom.
The mother and son duo had talked after the second incident of Izuku putting himself in unnecessary danger. Izuku managed to convince her that everything was ok, he didn't get hurt after all because of his quirk. She calmed down afterwards and Izuku said that he wouldn't get hurt if he put himself in unnecessary danger.
"Oh, well please do sit and eat." Inko said as she gestured for All Might to sit at the table. Along with giving him a bowl of katsudon. And a cup of tea. "Thank you for taking care of Izuku, I know that he can be reckless, his hero impulses put him in danger a lot, but with the Bakery Fire he didn't get hurt, so he's getting better, I assume that it's because of you?"
Toshinori nodded, "Yes, it is a great trait to have, but he can't use it right now since he doesn't have a license, and that leads him to doing reckless things, but that will change in no time, I promise."
"Thank you Mr. Yagi, now please, eat"
Toshinori nodded and ate the whole thing, how he did that without a stomach I have no idea. "Thank you Ms. Midoriya." All Might said sheepishly, "This is the best meal I've had in a while to be honest." He cleared his throat, "But if you don't mind may I talk with Young Midoriya in private?"
"Call me Inko and of course, I had to go buy something anyway, I'll see you later Izuku, and again Mr. Yagi thank you for taking care of my baby." Inko told the duo as she left the apartment.

...
"So, Young Midoriya how long have you gotten along with One For All?" All Might asked his successor from across the table while holding onto and sipping some of his tea that Inko had made for him. It was very good, he understood Nezu now.
"N-Not that far…..It's so different from my quirk I-I have no idea how it works…." Izuku said with a very sad look on his face. He'd been trying for months to find a way to get One For All to work. But nothing ever seemed to do anything, yeah he didn't break his limbs now but he still felt like something was wrong and he couldn't fix it.
"That's because One For All isn't like your quirk, think instead about how I use it." All Might said while still holding onto his cup of tea.
"You rush in and punch things with unstoppable force, All Might! Unlike me you use 100% all the time! You stop all the criminals and villains no matter what, everything is always ok when you're around!" Izuku said as he bounced up and punched the air, his fanboy was showing.
"No, not that Young Midoriya! What else do you notice when I use One For All?" All Might asked his pupil, staring at him intensely. 'If this doesn't help him then I don't know what will, but he's a smart kid, I'm sure he'll get it.'
"Well you turn into your buff form but what does tha-'' Izuku struck gold "If your buff form is you using One For All then it's you transferring One For All throughout your entire body as opposed to just one area like I'm doing. One top of that you have it on constantly, I'm just using it whenever I need it and then let it fade and wait to call on it again" Izuku mumbled at a high rate, "Is that what you meant by that All Might!" Izuku shot out of his seat looking very happy and excited.
"Looks like you got it!" All Might said with a smirk. He actually didn't understand Izuku's rambling but it looked like the boy had gotten it.
"I gotta go try this out All Might!" Izuku told his mentor. He bounced around his apartment looking for a pen and paper, "I'll leave a note for my mom and we can go to the beach!" He told All Might, before his teacher could even respond Izuku wrote a note and left it on the kitchen table, grabbed All Might's hand and rushed out towards the coast.
"Midoriya my boy! Calm down!"
"Can't! Too excited!"
They eventually stopped at the beach when they arrived, Izuku slightly gasping for air and Toshinori taking deep breaths, "You were in quite a hurry Young Midoriya."
"S-Sorry I just got really excited and wanted to try this out!" Izuku said as he rubbed the back of his neck since that was very strange behavior for him to take. He was excited ok! He'd been working on this for forever and he might finally have it!
"No no, it's fine Young Midoriya, I'm glad you made this break through, now go try it out!" All Might said pointing a finger to the spot where he had previously broken his arm some time ago. He had a smile on his face, his successor finally had it, he finally had a way to use One For All efficiently.
"Alright!" Izuku ran out to the coast of the beach and stood there in a squat position, arm kept close to him and fists closed. All Might looked at the boy and was praying in his head that Izuku would get this first try. Also that he wouldn't have to take Izuku to go see Recovery Girl again.
The horrors of getting her mad were still fresh in his head from the multiple times he had to take Izuku in since the boy had overdone it. He still felt bruises all over him, yet there were no bruises! Psychological trauma, that must've been it.
Izuku in the meantime had his eyes closed and was searching for One For All inside himself. It took him a moment but he eventually found a familiar warmth, kind of like when the sun comes out on a cold winter day. He tugged at the warmth and he could now feel the better surging through him.
At first it overflowed but Izuku lowered it, like a sink faucet, you don't want the sink to overflow so he turned the power output down, '5% of One For All…'
By instinct it enveloped his arm, but Izuku focused on more than that, not just one arm but both arms, his other limbs as well, also his bones and organs too, his chest, his shoulder, everything. Making everything stronger, more durable, more powerful. And finally his eyes shot open.
He looked around him and saw wind keeping up some sand, small pebbles floating around him, the water of the ocean was now wild with little bits of water floating alongside the pebbles, sparks of fire were coming from the ground. And lightning sporadically danced around his figure. He looked towards All Might to see the man grinning like crazy, like a proud dad when his son does really good in a sport.
Izuku dropped the power and tears invaded his eyes, "All Might! I DID IT!"
Then the pro proceeded to buff up.
"Yes you did Young Midoriya, Now come at me!" All Might told his pupil getting into his signature arm flexing pose.
Izuku gulped, before he grinned "You got it!" Izuku yelled back to his mentor. Quickly focusing back onto the way he just used One For All. It took him a second but with practice it would become second nature.
He grinned as he felt the power, 'I did it, I finally did it!' The elements around him dropped leaving small bits of lightning, 'Not sure why that is, might be just a One For All thing' and his body glowing.
Him and All Might turned to each other, "Ready Young Midoriya?"
"Yessir!" He responded.
The two jumped towards each other and spent the day sparring. Izuku found that while using the new state his elemental powers were improved, due to the power of One For All, and it was much easier to use both quirks at once now opposed to before. With that he could potentially do a lot with them now. He actually managed to stop All Might using his earth powers but the hero punched through it, coated him in water and then gave him a nasty shock. All Might powered through it though….
Shutting down ALL of Izuku's attempts to get the upper hand, no matter what. 'I know he's the number one hero, but this seems a little unfair!'
All in all, during the entire sparring session Izuku managed to get a total of 3 clean hits on the number one hero. Which wasn't bad, but it was nowhere near good enough.
The two finally got tired and decided to go sit down. Except Izuku just made some chairs out of the sand and was able to turn the sand into concrete. 'Since when could I do that?' Well he could now and he wasn't complaining. The two sat down and finally rested.
"S-Sorry it's not the most comfortable." Izuku apologized for the roughness of the chairs, while it was a cool thing they weren't as soft as couches, more like plastic chairs.
"No-No it's fine Young Midoriya! Why don't we call it a day? Then you can show this new power boost to your friends. And you train for the last two months that you have. Got it, I don't need my successor going easy on his training" All Might related to his pupil.
"G-Got it All Might, I mean Toshinori!" All Might smiled at his pupil's answer, the boy always forgot. "Th-Thank you for your help today, One For All had been driving me crazy!"
"Well, you're the one who got it, so thank yourself Young Midoriya." Toshinori smiled, Izuku had earned this achievement.
"O-ok, thank you me!"
"I didn't mean literally kid…"
"I-I kn-e-ew that!" Izuku didn't know that
They both chuckled and just sat there, admiring the sunset completely silent for at least half an hour. It was calm and soothing. It was nice to relax like this after a long workout. Izuku now understood why All Might wanted him to clean the beach, this feeling, it was relaxing.
"Alright!" All Might stood up from the chair Izuku had made. "So what are you gonna call this new power up Young Midoriya, everything needs a name after all.!"
Izuku hadn't honestly thought about it but after giving it a couple of minutes, a bit of murmuring, and a karate chop to the head courtesy of All Might, he finally got a name.
"One For All: Full Cowling!" Izuku told his sensei, looking really excited. "Because a cowl is what some pro heroes use when they go to fight crime, and it covers my entire body." Izuku said a complete one eighty from his previous enthusiasm, now looking bashful and scratching his cheek.
"I like it Young Midoriya! So you said you could use roughly 5% of One For All, this should be more than enough for the Entrance Exam but you still gotta train you understand, or else you'll get behind!"
"Yes All Might, I understand!" Izuku told his mentor back to his enthusiasm.
"Alright, now go home and rest, you deserve it Young Midoriya." Izuku stood up to meet All Might. And the pro gave the kid a pat on the back.
"Yes, I do!" Izuku smiled.
"Good, see you Young Midoriya." All Might said as Izuku was walking off.
"See you All Might." Izuku said with a smile and a wave goodbye as he began to jog home. All the stress of finding a better way to use One For All now gone. And he could finally focus and get stronger not just for the entrance exam but also for everything that comes after it as well.
-Next Day-
Izuku had texted both Yaoyorozu and Uraraka last night and told them that something super cool happened. Momo asked if he got another piece of All Might merch and Izuku quickly swatted down that idea, though he did get some new All Might merch recently, but they didn't need new teasing material.. Ochako asked what it was and all Izuku said was that he would show them tomorrow. And now tomorrow has come.
They all arrived at the beach, their hangout spot, and while it was more populated it was still special to them.
"Ok, so Midoriya-kun, what did you want to show us?" Momo asked the boy who had now passed her in height, standing at about an inch taller than her.
"Yeah Izuku-kun, you made it seem really important." Ochako told the greanette with a worried face.
And while the Izuku part caught Izuku off guard he kind of liked it. So he decided to just continue with what he was gonna do and question it later. Still being called by your first name from a girl still gave him a little blush.
"J-Just watch, ok?" He asked the duo, shaking off what Ochako had said, they nodded in response.
Izuku walked over to a blank spot on the beach, he closed his eyes and focused on the warmth from last night, the sun came up once again and he felt it envelop his body, "One For All: Full Cowling!" Izuku looked at the two as they gazed in awe at Izuku.
Izuku switched his gaze to the beach and did a lap around it in less than 20 seconds, jumped high into the air and did a couple of punches that looked like blurs to them, before looking back at them with a smile.
Ochako pointed out how cool and awesome it looked while Momo pointed out how much more effective it would be than using One For All the way he had been using it. Very on brand for the both of them
Izuku released Full Cowling and walked over to the two. "All Might said that it will be more than enough to get me through the entrance exam but that I should still train." Izuku said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Then let's make the most out of these last two months, alright you two!" Ochako energetically threw her right arm up while making a fist with the other and smiling towards the two.
"That would be the best course of action for you two, so let's do it!" Momo agreed with Ochako's statement.
Izuku smiled as they each got into position for a spar. Of course as always Ochako and Momo both went after Izuku but this time he could see their movements more clearly and while he didn't all of them he did dodge at least half.
The trio trained and Ochako and Izuku studied for the entrance exam. Of course Momo didn't need to take the entrance exam but she still found the training useful as she was much stronger now. Ochako could hold a lot more weight now, about half a ton and could use her quirk on herself for about a minute before getting nauseous.
Izuku had managed to get Full Cowling to 7% over the last two months and saw a great increase with his powers. He could alter the states of certain elements. For example he could change his earth into metal and now could move metal too, also he could make ice from water, though whenever he tried to move the ice it would turn back into water, that would be useful.
Izuku and Ochako were now ready for the UA High Entrance Exam, though they were still nervous as hell, they're teenagers of course they would be.
They all went home after a long day of training, Izuku set his alarm for early in the morning and drifted off to a comfortable sleep.
"Izuku Midoriya."
Izuku's eyes shot open and once more he was in the void, and the lights from his first trip were there! Though this time they weren't spheres, instead taking more humanoid shapes. Izuku couldn't talk, he would open his mouth but his voice never came out.
"Good Luck."
"Give 'Em Hell."
Each of the lights said. The next thing he knew he was awake in his bed, sweating. His alarm was going off and he could see a little sunlight invading his room through the curtains. "I'll do my best." He had no idea who he was saying that to, but he knew that he wasn't going to be pulling any punches during the exam.
Chapter 5: Izuku's Start: The Entrance Exam
Izuku got out of the shower with a start, a purpose, he was going to do his best! No, 'I'll go Plus Ultra' He said to himself as he changed into his school uniform.
It was the usual black Aldera uniform with a green T-shirt underneath. He tried to comb his hair but was unsuccessful and ended up losing another comb. 'It'll come out later, I'm sure of it.' He thought as he proceeded to brush his teeth. He got a bag ready, putting his practical exam clothes in there, it was a light green tracksuit, though he ditched the top and had just a black tank top.
He entered the kitchen and his mother was there, he opened his mouth to say something, anything to sooth her worries but she crashed into him with a hug. He sputtered to ask if something was wrong, she had tears in her eyes and held back sobbs before she said, "Do your best Izuku."
Izuku helped something go through his heart as he felt happiness overcome him, "I-I will mom, I promise." He said.
"Well get some breakfast first." She said. Inko had made him the best breakfast she could fill with all the love and pride she had for him, Gordon Ramsey would be proud and jealous of how good the meal tasted. Izuku ended up downing the whole thing in under a minute and almost choked with how fast he was eating the food. He left out a content sigh when he finished, 'I can do this, I'm ready.'
He got up and put his bowl in the sink before heading to the hallway. He put on his shoes and was about to leave. "Izuku!"
Izuku turned back to his mother and she had a wrapped lunch box. His mom stopped him at the door and handed him the box lunch."It's for Uraraka, don't eat it Izuku." the short lady told Izuku.
"Got it mom." he said back with a smile.
"Good luck Izuku, you got this, and don't forget I believe in you!" Inko said motivating her son with the brightest smile Izuku had ever seen with tears threatening to escape the corners of her eyes.
"Thanks mom, I'll do my best I promise." Izuku smiled as he hugged her and left the house. "I'll see you later mom!" He said as he walked outside.
"Bye! Do your best!" Inko said before he left. The door closed and she had a very shaky smile now and the dam in her eyes finally broke, her Izuku was going to be a hero and NOTHING was going to stop him. She accepted that fact a long time ago, but she was still worried. 'Do your best Izuku…'
Izuku had arrived at Uraraka's apartment, he had been here a couple of times when he and Yaoyorozu had to pick her up for hang outs sessions. He was about to knock on the door when Uraraka opened it to show she was wearing a black skirt along with long black stockings, along with a big brown coat and a pink scarf.
Izuku blushed slightly, she looked cute.
"Hey Izuku-kun! You ready for the entrance exam?!" Ochako said with her usual bubbly mood. Though Izuku noticed something was wrong.
Over the months he learned to use his earth powers to send vibrations throughout the ground to guess enemy movements, giving him a sort of seismic sense. Along with that if a person near him was touching the ground he could feel their heartbeat and tell if they were lying or not, or how they were feeling.
And right now, the girl in front of him was feeling anything but fine.
"Uraraka-san, what's wrong?" Izuku asked, grabbing her shoulders loosely so as to not hurt her.
The girl tensed for a second before smiling again, "I'm fine Izuku-kun." She said trying to brush off his worries.
Izuku was taken aback, he knew that it was probably something to do with the entrance exam, as he himself was nervous as hell.
What makes you so sure we'll get in?
Izuku remembered the girl's nervousness about actually getting a spot at UA. 'She doesn't think she'll make it…' He had gotten better with interacting with people because of Yaoyorozu and Uraraka but he didn't know how to deal with something like this.
He never had to deal with something like this before so he just did what felt right. He took a leap of faith.
He stepped closer to the brunette and brought his arms around the brunette, letting his warmth comfort her. He brought her closer to his chest and held on though he felt Uraraka tense.
"Izuku! Wh-What are you doing!"
"I'm giving you a hug…...you seemed like you could use one…." Izuku told the girl in a low voice. His voice said that he was embarrassed, though he still kept on holding onto her.
After a couple of seconds Ochako embraced the hug, wrapping her own arms around the boy and a fountain sprouted from her eyes, "What if I don't make it into UA!" she said sobs between each word.
"You will." Izuku said in a low voice and sincere voice, he said it like it was fact, well to him it was. There was no way Ochako wasn't going to get into UA.
"H-How do y-you know that…." Ochako etched deeper into Izuku's chest, holding onto him as hard as she could. She was getting Izuku's uniform wet but neither of them cared about that.
Izuku pulled back a bit, still having her wrapped in his arms, he looked at her and smiled. "We've been training together for months Ochako." she flinched as he said her first name without the honorific.. It wasn't something that she knew she needed, but now she did "I know that no matter what you'll pass the entrance exam, now come we don't wanna be late." he finished off with another bright smile.
"O-ok, Izuku." it only seemed right she say his name back, she locked the door to her apartment after Izuku reminded her that she forgot to lock it. And Izuku gave her the lunch that Inko made to eat on the way.
It was a very quiet walk to the entrance of UA but much enjoyed. The silence had a sense of warmth to it that they both appreciated and when they both got on the train, Izuku insisted he pay for both tickets as Ochako had mentioned she didn't have the most cash at some point in the past.
They found spaces to sit which surprised both of them and they graciously took the seats, as today would be hard to find a seat because of the entrance exam. There would be a lot of people around their age taking the train to UA.
"Hey Izuku?" Ochako looked up to her friend. "It's ok if I call you Izuku, right?" she asked. She added a cute head tilt and Izuku couldn't bring himself to say no, though he didn't want her to stop saying his first name either, it made him feel bubbly inside.
"Y-Yeah, but I'd actually been meaning to ask you about that, why'd you start calling me Izuku?" He was really curious as to why his friend had called him by his first name, as that was usually reserved for family members and lovers. And they weren't family and he was PRETTY sure they weren't dating.
"Well, I feel better when I call you Izuku just puts a smile on my face ya know, I thought it'd be ok with you, I'll stop if yo-"
"No, it's fine!" Izuku jumped in. "It just catches me off guard is all, you just started doing it out of nowhere, but it's fine promise." Izuku said, rubbing the back of his neck. He was honestly really embarrassed by the whole thing but if she felt better that way then it was fine with him.
"Can you c-call me Ochako then?" Ochako asked as she looked at him.
He looked like he was about to explode but still managed to get out a couple of words, "Sure, Ochako-san…."
"W-without the honorific…." She added.
Izuku gulped, 'How can she just expect me to do this out of nowhere, is she serious…' He looked at Ochako, she was also blushing but she was waiting for him to say her name as well. He took a deep breath. "Alright, Ochako…." Izuku looked like a full on tomato right now, and Ochako matched him.
And while on the outside Ochako looked very happy on the inside, 'Ahhhhh, I can't believe I did this, I can't believe I did this without Yaoyorozu, she's gonna be so mad when she finds out, but she probably won't show it, she might be disappointed, or maybe sad, I don't Yaoyorozu to be sad….unless….' she looked towards her friend again. "Hey Izuku?"
"Y-Yeah Ur- Ochako?" Izuku said, covering up his mistake.
"Can you call Yaoyorozu by her first name too, please?" Ochako asked, she thought it'd only be fair to Yaoyorozu since she found out that they both had a crush on Izuku. Though the boy may have found it a little strange that she was asking him to call another girl by her first name.
"Y-Yeah, I can do that!" Izuku was so confused as to why he had to call Momo by her first name but decided not to ask right now as they were fast approaching UA. He needed to clear his head, he had a big task in front of him and he was going to take it by storm.
They both got off the train and after a short walk they both stood at the shining gates of UA High. The best hero school in the country, where most of the top 10 heroes came from. They both gazed in awe at the golden arches of the school.
They looked at each other nervously and nodded, this was their test to see if they could make it into the best hero school in the country, and they WERE going to pass, and nothing was going to stop them. They were about to take a step as they heard someone yell out from behind them.
"The hell outta my way Deku!" Izuku sighed as he turned around and saw Katsuki. "Hey Kacchan" Izuku turned to face Katsuki and their shoulders clashed as he walked past him. Ochako could feel something between them as Katsuki was there, and she left it dispersed as the spiky blonde left.
Katsuki looked over his shoulder and straight at Izuku, "Don't lose nerd, also there's no way in hell I'm giving you my number one spot." He said before walking forward once more. They were more than just best friends now, they were rivals.
Izuku smirked, "Your number one spot, sorry but it's got myname on it." He called out.
Katsuki gained a tick mark on his forehead and turned back, "LIKE HELL IT DOES, FUCKING DEKU!" Katsuki yelled before he stormed off, probably heading to where the written exams would be.
Izuku smiled, it was nice having a rival and one that was easily riled up like Katsuki was, Izuku felt something tug at his sleeve and turned to see Ochako tugging on it, "Deku?" Ochako asked with a head tilt.
Izuku tensed, 'Oh god, I didn't think I'd have to explain what that stupid nickname meant..' He took a deep breath. "It means good for nothing, useless, worthless…." Izuku said looking down, a little bit of his excitement gone, "He doesn't mean anything by it I promise, but that's what it means."
Ochako looked lost in thought for a second, her face going from sad to angry and then to happy, "It's very close to dekiru though, no? That means 'can do it' so I kind of like it!" Ochako said with a smile
Izuku felt something go through his heart as she finished, he sighed "Guess I'm Dekiru then?" Izuku asked with a quirked eyebrow.
"Maybe, sounds like a really cool hero name, but I still wanna call you Izuku." she said with her hands behind her back as she walked towards the building.
"Hmm alright then…." He was scratching the side of his cheek again. "So….why don't we get going Ochako?!" He said with a smirk as his previous excitement had returned.
"Alright, let's go Izuku!" Ochako said back with a smile
'UA here we come!' They both thought with enthusiasm.
The two had to take the written exam before the rules of the practical were said, it was kinda easy. After all, Momo had been tutoring the both of them for months now and the girl was VERY smart. So the written exam, while wasn't a breeze, didn't pose a threat to either of them.
Currently the two were in an auditorium where they were going to get explained the rules of the practical part of the entrance exam.
The two were able to sit next to each other since their middle schools were in similar areas and Katsuki was right next to them as well.
The three of them were waiting for the announcer to show up and Izuku was talking about how the UA staff were all pro heroes and was making guesses of who was going to be the announcer for the practical.
"Maybe it'll be Nezu! No that wouldn't make sense, since he probably has a lot of work to do and he's the principal so he can't waste time being the announcer, maybe Midnight! Oh no, no no no no, yeah no way she's the announcer. It might be-
"HELLO LITTLE LISTENERS!" A loud voice called out to the crowd and a spotlight on stage showed that it was the voice hero Present Mic, Izuku gained stars in his eyes. "CAN I GET A HEY?!"
"HEY!" Izuku cheered. How could he not? It was THE Present Mic! No one else responded to Mic's exclamation, meaning Izuku was the only one, but he wasn't embarrassed, he was figuring out how to ask the pro for his autograph.
"ALRIGHT! I LIKE YOU LITTLE LISTENER, LET'S TRY AGAIN, CAN I GET A HEY?!" Mic yelled.
"HEY!" Izuku yelled and this time was joined by Ochako and a few others, they saw a blonde that had a black stripe in his hair and a girl with red head, along with a guy with silver hair.
"THANK YOU LITTLE LISTENERS! NOW ONTO THE PRACTICAL!" Mic pushed a button on his podium and a picture behind him showed the outline of three robots. "DURING THIS TEST YOU'LL BE GOING OUT AGAINST ROBOTS THAT VERY FROM 1-3 POINTS, EACH GETTING HARDER IN DIFFICULTY THE HIGHER THE NUMBER IS!"
A hand shot up in the crowd and a spotlight landed on the person. It was a rather tall boy that had dark blue hair and square glasses. He looked rather robotish.
"YES EXAMINEE 7111!"
The boy stood up and held a pamphlet in his hand. "Sir, the pamphlet says there are four robots, if this is a typo, UA should be ashamed of their mistake as a prestigious school!" the robot boy said he then pointed to Izuku who was currently mumbling. "And you, stop your noise, it is very annoying for the ones who are trying to listen!"
"S-Sorry…" Izuku responded, Ochako got ticked off and was about to say something but Izuku looked at her and gave her a smile that told her everything was ok. "Don't worry, it doesn't matter-"
"HEY FOUR EYES!" The brunette and greanette turned to the right to see Bakugo standing on his desk looking pissed, "MAYBE IF YOU SHUT UP AND WAIT YA WOULD'VE REALIZED THAT LOUDMOUTH WAS GOING TO TALK ABOUT THAT! INSTEAD OF GETTING MAD AT OTHER PEOPLE SHUT THE FUCK UP AND WAIT!" The boy along with the duo of Izuku and Ochako were stunned as Katsuki sat back down.
"Thanks Kacchan."
"Tch whatever nerd, dumbass just pissed me off."
Present Mic cleared his throat "I WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET TO THAT EXAMINEE 7111, THE FOURTH ROBOT IS THE MOST POWERFUL AND IS WORTH ABSOLUTELY ZERO POINTS! He said, fingers striking the air, "It's more of an obstacle to get around, ya see." He added in a much more quiet voice, well as quiet as he could get which was still pretty much yelling.
"Ah, I see thank you." The boy who was examinee 7111 sat down, he seemed embarrassed, something that Katsuki was grinning like a bitch about..
"Now, if you would go ahead and look ok at your cards you'll have a letter on them, this letter determines what testing area you'll be heading too!" Izuku and Ochako both checked their cards, revealing that they were in different testing areas, Izuku being in testing area B and Ochako in A. Izuku also checked Katsuki's to see he was in testing area C.
"This must be to prevent us from working with friends." Izuku said looked on at his own card, the B etched in it making Izuku nervous even though it was just a simple letter..
'Friends' Ochako thought, the word somehow stung a bit. She was going to open her mouth to give Izuku some encouragement but he beat her to it. "But you don't need to work with me to do amazing, you'll do that all on your own!" The smile he gave her almost blinded her.
"You'll do amazing too Izuku." she told him as they stood up and headed to their respective changing rooms.
Izuku and Katsuki were walking in the same hallway since they had the same destination.
"You better fucking make it." Katsuki said out of nowhere.
"I thought you wanted me to transfer in through General Studies?" Izuku asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Tch, you don't think that I've noticed all the fucking training you've been doing dumbass?"
Izuku sweatdropped, "Well no, I just didn't think it was that obvious."
"You look like a fucking tank now idiot, and plus your quirk seemed pretty fucking op against that shitty slime bastard from a year ago." Katsuki said like it was the most basic thing, "So you better at least make it in the top 10, got that?"
Izuku smiled and raised a fist, "Yeah Kacchan."
Katsuki bumped it, "Shut the fuck up Deku." He smirked, "And there's no way you're getting my top spot."
"We'll have to see about that."
-Testing Site B-
Izuku's bus arrived at the testing site, which was actually a giant mock city, 'How does UA afford this?' He thought as he approached the starting area.
He felt so small compared to the city in front of him, was it going to feel like this if he went out on patrol? Would he be able to cover every corner of a city to make sure there was no crime going on? Would he be able to live up to All Might's-
Izuku tensed when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see the boy that was examinee 7111, 'Is he wearing runner clothes? Most likely quirk related to speed then-'
"Would you mind? People are trying to concentrate, and your incoherent mumbling is distracting everyone." He said rather rudely, knocking Izuku out of his nerding out.
Izuku could feel it all around him with his seismic sense, everyone was looking down on him, everyone was thinking that he wasn't a threat, they were thinking that he was nothing to worry about.
"I'm sorry, I'll stop now." Izuku said. He felt empty with all of the people looking down on him, just like when he was growing up. No one believed he could become a hero. But now, he had strength, he had people that believed in him, he had determination that no one could break. 'Don't think I'm a pushover, that'll be your downfall.'
With all the training that he had gotten about being a pro and things to expect from both All Might and Momo, Izuku guessed that they'd probably start the test without a countdown, so he caught his breath and walked to the front of the crowd pushing even the robot out of his way.
'One For All: Full Cowling 7%' the power sprung forth from Izuku and instead of all the elements, Izuku restricted himself to one, Lightning, the element of speed.
The robot boy walked up to Izuku. "Excuse me, what do you-"
"START!" the doors had opened and Izuku had rushed through, moving not as fast as lightning but still pretty fast, He left all of his fellow participants in the dust as he ran in.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! VILLAINS WON'T WAIT FOR YOU! GO GO GO!"
Izuku noticed two 1 pointers and he closed in on them, amplifying his speed with lightning and with the strength of One For All he jumped over the two and then crushed the robots with a pair of kicks, getting two points.
'Ok, so combining the two is easier but I have to concentrate.' he thought.
Izuku saw the other examinees finally cross the gate and he simply rushed further, reaching three 2 pointers. He slid under one and drove his fist through its heart and then threw it at one of the others and rushed the final one tearing through it like tissue paper.
'Those took more effort than the one pointers, they weren't lying. The robots get progressively harder.'
Izuku ran around finding other examinees having trouble with two three pointers and so he stepped in using his earth to make a shield for someone and then rushing in and taking out the other one. Izuku turned and smiled at the two, "Are you two ok?"
"Y-Yeah, I'm good. Just a little..shaken."
"I am genial!"
"Alright, be careful and good luck!" Izuku said as he ran off.
-Ochako-
'And that's 32!' She thought as she slammed another two pointer into the grind by grabbing its tail. 'Ok, I need to focus my breathing just like Izuku and Yaoyorozu said.' She took deep breaths before looking around the street.
'There's no other robots here, I need to check other places.'
She ran around seeing if she could find any other robots, she found a couple and eventually found someone having trouble with a three pointer.
The girl seemed to be 'Invisible? Oh yeah that's an invisible girl.'Ochako approached the three pointer and slid under it and touched it's underside causing the thing to float. She let it rise for a couple of seconds before releasing its weight, letting it fall.
"37" She breathed out. She could feel herself getting a little tired but not that nauseous.
"Hey thank you!" She heard the invisible girl call out, Ochako gave a thumbs up and the two parted way.
"I wonder how Izuku is doing." Ochako slapped her face, "I c-can't be thinking of that right now, I'm in the middle of a test!" She nodded to herself, going off to look for more points.
-Bakugo-
Katsuki let oxygen fill his lungs as he breathed deeply on top of the corpses of a couple of three pointers. "Get the hell out of my way." He said as he hopped off and went to search for more points.
He exploded more robots, getting more and more points. He didn't keep track because the number didn't matter. He knew he was going to get number one so keeping track didn't matter.
He ran past other examinees and took down more robots.
"These things are weak as shit, and this is supposed to be the hardest hero course exam in the country, my ass it is." He continued to look for more robots.
"No way I'm losing to fucking Deku."
-Izuku-
It'd been around six minutes and Izuku had scored around forty-five points, he really enjoyed the feeling of adrenaline he had. The sensation of vibrations whenever he hit something, it was addictive, though the constant heart beating in his ears was something that he could do without, it ruined his concentration.
Izuku had reached a pair of 2 pointers and he took them out by smashing through their shields and making them collide into each other, reaching forty-nine points, he took a minute to use his seismic sense to look for people but didn't find anything.
'Guys I'll just have to search on foot, no big deal!'
He ran for another two minutes around looking for either more bots or seeing if anyone needed help. He found the boy speaking french that he helped earlier. He had a stomach ache and was surrounded by three 1 pointers, so he ran in and assisted, taking them down by going straight for their neck which he found was a weak point. He proceeded to help the boy to his feet and then ran off to look for more bots..
He now had about fifty-seven points by his calculations. He tried using his seismic to locate anything or anyone else. He felt something this time.
The vibrations at his feet, it felt like an earthquake, but on the same day as the entrance exam! 'Man of course it'd be the one year I take the entrance exam.'
He felt the nearby building rattle and some windows broke, he turned to see a giant robot, towering over all the buildings in the fake city where the test took place. 'It's not an earthquake, it's the zero pointer! How the hell can they afford this!'
It moved using huge wheels that could easily roll over Izuku, along with giant arms that cracked the buildings it held onto, and a giant head with eight lights that were no doubt its eyes. Though the eyes felt like they were staring into Izuku's soul.
Izuku saw that many people were running away from the robotic monstrosity. Even the robotic moving boy from earlier, examinee 7111, ran past him and seemed to look at Izuku also. Izuku was about to join the ever growing crowd when he saw someone standing in the path of the robot. 'Why isn't she moving!'
It seemed to be a girl with dark purple hair wearing a black jeans, a pink shirt and a black leather jacket with what seemed to be audio jacks protruding from her ears. She wasn't moving, she was just staring at the robot waiting for it to run her over! She was paralyzed with fear, no doubt.
Izuku looked back at the crowd, eyes briefly locking with the boy from earlier and looked back towards the girl. "Oh, fuck it!" Izuku yelled as he ran to the girl. The robot boy noticed and followed him.
"What do you think you're doing?!" The taller boy asked Izuku, 'The zero pointer doesn't offer anything, why are you doing something so pointless!'
Izuku didn't even need to think about his answer, "Being a hero, isn't that what this is for?!" Izuku yelled, this shocked the boy and before he knew it they reached the girl. "Well what's your plan now?!" The other boy asked in worry as the gigalith approached.
Izuku gulped, he hadn't thought that far ahead and decided to shake the girl, bringing her back to her senses as she finally realized that the robot was nearing.
Her legs were shaking, she was scared of the THING.
"Come on we have to go!" Izuku said but the girl didn't respond. Izuku picked her up which shocked the girl and handed her to the boy that accompanied him "Run."
"What about-"
"Just run, get this girl out of here." He said, the boy nodded after some thought and took off, using engines in his calves. 'That would totally deserve a page and I would totally do that right now if I didn't have to deal with this!'
However, there was no way that the boy could escape the robot now, the robot was too close to the three of them and they were all very tired, they just spent the last couple of minutes taking the test of their lifetime that pushed their bodies and quirks to their limit. Izuku gulped, he knew what he had to do. He had to take down the zero pointer, with whatever he had left. 'A leap of faith.' He told himself.
Izuku got into a squatting stance as he stared down the bot. 'I need to use all I can! Push everything to the limit, higher higher!' He felt One For All course through him like a river. He felt himself hit his 7% limit, 'I need to go higher! One For All: Full Cowling 8%!' His muscles were screaming from strain and exhaustion but he had to push it! He had to use his all to defeat this thing!
He knew that he couldn't use his metal powers, he wouldn't be able to use them on this scale, there was simply too much to do. He could invade the bot with water and try to freeze it but he doubted that he could turn the necessary amount of water into ice and even if he did have the necessary amount, who's to say the bot isn't waterproof? And it would probably roll straight through whatever he created with the concrete around him. His lightning would only hit the surface of the monstrosity, and that would render the attack useless. Wind was probably a no go as well, he couldn't make his wind sharp enough to cut through metal! Could anyone even do that?! But he had one trump card, he had one attack he could use, he had one chance, 'A leap of faith.' He repeated to himself.
Izuku placed both of his hands together leaving his palms open. And he focused on one element, FIRE. The burning sensation of the sun, the explosions during the sludge incident, the chains of the man at the Bakery Fire, the everlasting flames of hell, anything that had to do with fire was in his mind. He used Full Cowling to amplify the creation of fire and soon it was all around him like an aura, reminding the boy of the sludge incident and the many fires that littered the street then. 'Alright, so far….so good…'Izuku thought to himself. He then concentrated all the fire around him into the one point in his palms.
It took awhile but he had created a small red orb that was burning, but not with orb was filled with emotion, however not positive ones. All the grief, depression, and rage Izuku had felt over the years was put into this attack, all the emotions he felt when someone said he couldn't reach his dream but his quirk was weak. The orb was trying to explode out and Izuku had to fight it to keep it in sphere form.
Suddenly he heard a voice again, it was the woman's voice, the one from his dreams.
'Fire the element of emotion, uncontrollable fury, unbending will, the power to overcome endeavors with what's the heart. The power to incinerate any and all obstacles that come in life.'The strange voice said in Izuku's head, however only one word stood out.
Incinerate…..
"Incinerate, destruction by burning, destruction by fire." He said aloud. The word was all that Izuku could think of now, and the only other thing that had his attention was the titan of metal that stood in front of him that was rapidly approaching. 'Destroy, eliminate, burn, explode, exterminate, erase-'
Izuku grit his teeth as the orb in his palms met it's max heat. "INCINERATE! GO TO HELL!" The orb in Izuku's hands shot outwards much like Endeavor's ultimate move, Prominence Burn, and connected with the metal beast, challenging the walking titan. The beast kept on walking forward and Izuku grit his teeth even harder, "WANT SOME MORE, FINE!" The heat turned up and Izuku had to close his eyes to make sure he didn't blind himself. He felt his arms burning, screaming in pain, 'I guess I'm not immune as I thought!' He kept on pushing, and left the beast with a giant whole where its head used to be.
Izuku gasped for air as his arms fell limply to the side, Full Cowling fell and Izuku felt his arms burning badly, 'Is everyone safe..?'
The robot boy and the girl had looked at Izuku's feat and were in astonishment and shock. Who knew that this boy could obliterate a zero pointer? And who knew that he could get so mad? Before they all thought he was some chump, wrong assumption apparently.
Izuku was panting like crazy, he was seriously burning up. 'Element overuse, not the same as quirk overuse but still bad.' the old Izuku at the beginning of training would've passed out right about now, but this Izuku had been experimenting and found a way around the overuse of an element, using another to counteract it.
Izuku, with the remaining energy he had, surrounded his arms with water and had managed to turn them into ice keeping them cool and now restoring to their state before that insane attack.
The pain was still there but now they didn't feel like they were burning in the sun. 'Yeah, I can pass out now…' Izuku thought as he fell onto the ground.
The two people he had saved ran over to help Izuku as the bell signaling the end of the exam rang. The two checked Izuku and found that he was still breathing. The boy looked around and called for help, and an old lady emerged from the crowd.
She took a look at Izuku and sighed, "Is it too much to ask that one of you One For All users aren't so reckless?" She mumbled under her breath. She walked over to Izuku kissed on the forehead, gave him some gummies and walked off to go look for any other participants that needed help. "I don't get paid enough for this."
"That's the pro hero: Recovery Girl, very magnific!" A boy that Izuku had previously saved earlier said to seemingly no one.
Izuku opened his eyes and felt the searing pain in his arms fade away and be replaced by the freezing cold, he quickly removed the ice on his arms as he got into a sitting position.
'I passed out? I need to work on not passing out, I can't be a hero if going into overdrive leaves me useless' Izuku berated himself before seeing a hand out for him to reach.
The robot boy helped Izuku to his feet as he regained the rest of his feelings. He was met with murmurs from the crowd, people looking wide eyed at him, and the two that he saved.
"Did you see that?
"That was freaking awesome!"
"That power is super scary…"
"Of course he's going to make it into the hero course."
"Dude what is he, Endeavor's son?"
Izuku had his attention taken by the boy in front of him. "That was amazing, did you find out the true meaning of this test and go save that girl to score extra points!" The taller boy said, exclaiming each word with a chop of his arm, "By the way, my name is Iida Tenya!"
Izuku sweatdropped, the guy was...tense, intense, too tense. Luckily for him though the person he helped took his attention. "Not gonna lie, that was pretty cool Green, thanks for the save, the name's Kyoka Jirou by the way." She said as she twirled, what appeared to be an audio jack that was connected to her ear, on her finger.
Izuku blushed, it was a lot of attention for someone like him. He first answered the boy's, Iida's, question. "No, I didn't find out anything, it just felt like the right thing to do, someone was in trouble, I just had to help. And you're welcome Jirou-san." Iida then looked at Izuku in wonder. "And my name is Izuku Midoriya, and I have to go meet someone outside the exam, do you two wanna come?" He asked the last part sheepishly.
"Why would you want us to go with you Midoriya-san?" Iida asked. After all, he had been kind of a jerk to the greanette before the exam.
"Well I think we could be friends, don't you guys think so, Iida-san, Jirou-san."
"Oh Of course, after all it would be beneficial to learn more about our potential future classmates!" Iida said.
Jirou shrugged, "I don't have anything better to do, so why not." Jirou said.
"Alright! Meet me outside UA in a bit, see you guys!"
The trio walked out and took their separate ways once they got off of the bus. Each went to the changing rooms and then they finally met back up outside the front of UA. Izuku stopped the walk and just kept looking around. Confusing the other two that were there with him.
"Say Midoriya-san, it looks like you're searching for someone." Iida said to the boy. Jirou just watched the interaction.
"That's because I am" , Izuku said as he began to float in the air.
"Hey Izuku!" The girl that caused the flotation said with a grin on her face. Causing the other two there to flinch as Izuku was the boy's first name AND he was floating. Yeah maybe the second thing was the more important one.
"Oh, you think this is funny?" Izuku asked, looking at the girl.
"Nope, it's hilarious!" was the response he got, along with the girl laughing in his face.
"Ochako put me down."
"What's the magic word?"
"Please?"
"Nope."
Izuku sighed, "Mochi.." Ochako giggled and let him down and Izuku introduced his new friends from the exam. "This is Jirou-san and that's Iida-san, we met during the practical." Izuku said as he motioned to the two.
"Hi, my name's Ochako Uraraka!" the bubbly girl answered. "It's very nice to meet you!" she added, giving a nice smile. She seemed very happy, so Izuku presumed that she did very well, his seismic sense told him that he wasn't lying also, so that was good.
"All the same." Iida said, repeatedly karate chopping the air as she spoke.
"Nice to meet you too." was Jirou's response, giving Ochako a small grin. The girl was contagious.
"Say, Izuku?" Jirou and Iida had heard it again, she was calling the broccoli boy by his first name, they did seem to be good friends but maybe they were more?
"Yeah, Ura- Ochako…." He called her by her first name as well!
"Momo said she wanted to go to the mall later today," Ochako said as she looked at Izuku's new friends. "Do you guys want to come along?"
The both looked confused as they had barely just met and all.
"Of course! If we're all going to be UA students, then we might as well get to know each other, right?" Izuku said and Ochako nodded rapidly, both had smiles on their faces.
Iida nodded, "What a smart idea Midoriya, yes, let's go to the mall, I shall call my mother to inform her of this change in my plans.!" Iida said as he chopped his arm in the air back to his robotic actions.
"Alright, I'll call my dad, but I want to drop by a music store later." Jirou said.
The group met up at a mall later and Iida and Jirou were introduced to Momo.
There the group had some fun, went to a couple arcades and got some food, and eventually hit the music store like Jirou wanted and they all shared their tastes with each other.. When everyone left they exchanged numbers so they could keep in touch. Izuku said how he didn't think he did that well in the exam to which Iida and Jirou quickly shot down.
All in all, he had a lot of fun, and these people were potentially gonna be his classmates? Maybe this school year would be a little fun! 'Kacchan probably passed too, so I'll need to keep up and I won't be able to slack off if I want to be better!'
Izuku arrived home and his mother congratulated him on taking the exam and making some friends. They had dinner and they went to bed.
"Good job."
Izuku stood up with a start, he was in the void once more, he looked around and the humanoid lights were still there.
"Ah, t-thank you?" He asked, he didn't know what these things were.
"Keep it up Midoriya, in the life of a hero there are no breaks."
"It's only starting now for ya kid, so ya better get used to it."
Each of the lights said. Izuku nodded, the voices sounded more stabilized now. "I promise, I'll get even better! After all, I have to meet everyone's expectations of me!"
"We know Midoriya."
"Yeah, you're a killer when it comes to fighting, kid! Now wake on up, ya got a workout to do!"
Izuku didn't get a chance to respond as he woke up in his bed, the light from outside invading his room once more. "Another weird dream."
-Time Skip: 1 week-
It'd been just over a week since the entrance exam, and Izuku still hadn't gotten his letter. But neither had any of his friends so there was probably nothing to worry about, it must've just been that the UA staff was taking its time going through all of the potential applicants, right?.
"Yeah that makes sense, also considering they have ten minutes of footage to go over for thousands of applicants, it only makes sense that it takes a while, and then they also had the recommendation exams to go over, and Yaoyo-I mean Momo hasn't gotten her letter yet, she should be getting it at the same time that we are, right? Yeah, that makes sense…"
As he was pondering why the letters were taking so long he heard a ping come from his phone. He reached over and picked it up and went to his messages.
Ochako: GUYS I GOT MY LETTERRRR, WHAT ABOUT YOU
Momo: I also received my letter, do you all want to meet up and share the results?
Kyoka: I got mine and wherever you guys wanna meet up I guess.
Tenya: I also received my own letter, and I am nervous to open it as well. And I would appreciate if we opened them together, since we cant decide Izuku you suggest
Izuku sighed, Iida liked leaving stuff to him since he showed that he would be a good hero during the exam and also wanted to make up for his "rude" behavior. To Izuku it wasn't rude, Iida was just tense, and Izuku understood that. The boy started typing on his phone.
Izuku: well i havent gotten my letter but i suggest dagobah beach, its one of my favorite spots.
Ochako: YEAH ALRIGHT BE THERE IN A BIT
Momo: I will also be there.
Kyoka: Peace, see you guys.
Tenya: i'll run over right now
Izuku thought for a second before typing again.
Izuku: I'm gonna invite someone else, see you.
Izuku sighed and rolled back in his rolly chair. He hadn't gotten his letter and was starting to get worried, but he did have to meet them so he got up from his chai-
"Izuku, it's here!" Inko said as she barged into the room. In her hand was a white letter with the UA stamp on it in red. 'My letter!'
Izuku's face beamed at the piece of paper that had the UA insignia on it. He took it from his mother's hand and gave her a hug and then put his shoes on.
"I'm gonna go see my friends, we're gonna look at the result together!" Izuku said, very happy, tears threatening to escape the corners of his eyes.
"Alright honey, and remember, no matter what happens I'll be proud of you." Inko said, giving her son a very tear filled smile.
Izuku understood what she meant, she would support his dream but she still had her doubts, and that was ok. He said only six words back. "I know mom, I'll see you." he left the apartment and instead of heading to the beach he went to a nearby house.
He knocked on the door three times and he heard footsteps behind the door, he heard the lock being unlocked and the door opened, "Oh Izuku!"
The boy was crushed by a hug, "Hey Auntie!" Izuku managed to get out as his lungs were being crushed. "Could you please let go, I can't breath." Izuku said as he turned blue.
"Oh of course." Auntie Mitsuki said as she put Izuku down, the boy gasping for air, "So whaddya need?"
"Oh um is Kacchan here?" Izuku asked.
"The brat? Yeah, he should be upstairs right now, want me to get him for ya?" Izuku nodded enthusiastically and Mitsuki let out a chuckle before letting Izuku inside and heading upstairs.
Izuku sat down and heard the sounds of yelling, hitting, smacking, and other things before he saw Katsuki walking down the stairs with a scowl on his face. "DEKU, THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE!"
Izuku smiled, "I'm gonna get together with some friends and we're opening our letters from UA, and I wanted you to join us!" Izuku said.
"Tch, like I'll join you and your group of losers." Katsuki said as he made it to the first floor.
"KATSUKI YOU BRAT, YOU BETTER GO WITH IZUKU OR YOU'LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH ME!" They heard Mitsuki yell from upstairs.
The two boys looked at each other, "You coming Kacchan?"
"Fine whatever." Katsuki said. He could deal with his mother, but did he want to? No, no he did not. He grabbed his letter and the boys left the house. "Where the hell are we going?"
"Dagobah beach."
"The trash dump?"
"Ex trash dump."
The boys kept walking towards the beach and eventually got there, Katsuki was a little stunned that the beach was completely cleaned.
They saw a tall boy with a polo shirt and khaki pants, it was Iida. "Hello there, Midoriya!" the robot boy said as he waved and walked towards him revealing Momo behind him.
Katsuki was a little pissed that the guy that exploded at Izuku for no reason was here, but they seemed like they were on good terms so he wouldn't say anything for now.
"Hey Iida, Momo!" This caused said girl to blush, he had said her first name when they went to the mall, but she still was not used to it, Ochako revealed over text that this was her doing and Momo wasn't sure if she should be grateful or pissed at Ochako.
"H-Hi" was the response he got from Momo.
"Have you guys opened your letters yet?" Izuku asked the both of them and they both said a variant of no.
Just then both Ochako and Jirou arrived, "Hey guys, we're here!"
"Sup." Jirou said.
"Is that everyone?" Katsuki asked Izuku and the greanette nodded. "Thank fucking god."
"Everyone, this is Kacchan or Katsuki Bakugo, he's been my friend since I was a little kid." Each of them introduced themselves and Katsuki just grunted, 'Why can't you socialize?'
Izuku sighed, "So everyone, let's go!" Izuku made his way to the beach and just like he did with All Might. They all took the seats that Izuku made and while they were more comfortable than they were at the beginning of his training they were still uncomfortable.
The seats were in a circle so they could all see what someone's reaction would be.
"So who's gonna go first?" Ochako asked giggles in her voice.
"I'm not su-" Izuku was cut off
"Nose goes!" Ochako yelled, putting her finger on her nose. And everyone else followed, even Katsuki, the only ones who didn't were Momo and Izuku.
"Well looks like you go green." Kyoka said with a smirk and a smug tone.
"Wait why me? Momo didn't do it either."
"It is courteous of a gentleman to go first in a situation such as this Midoriya-san!" Iida said.
Izuku sighed and opened up his letter revealing a small metal disc. He took the disc out and held it in his hands 'What the heck is this, I thought it was a letter?' The disk made a noise and Izuku dropped it on the ground, and from it a hologram of All Might appeared.
"I AM HERE as a hologram!" the miniature All Might yelled
"ALL MIGHT!" They all yelled.
"Deku this is from fucking UA, right? The hell is All Might doing on this thing."
"I have no idea Kacchan."
"Don't act so surprised, you're looking at the newest member of UA's staff."
"So he's a teacher now." Ochako said.
"It would seem that way Uraraka-san"
"You Young Midoriya showed great skill in the test obtaining a total of 57 villain points putting you in second place!" All Might showed a scoreboard revealing that Katsuki was first which slightly irritated Izuku.
Meanwhile the blonde had a smug smirk on his face.
"However, what hero school would we be if we didn't commend the examinees for their heroic actions! This is why we have RESCUE POINTS!" Another scoreboard showed up revealing that Izuku was in first place on the rescue points scoreboard, behind him someone named Eiko Kirishima.
"WHAT?! THE FUCK ARE RESCUE POINTS!"
"So there was another part to the test."
"You Izuku Midoriya have earned 80 rescue points, you constantly helped your fellow examinees throughout the exam and even took down a zero pointer to save another, leading to you taking first place in this entrance exam with your combined total of 137 points, now I welcome you to your Hero Academia…" The recording cut off and everyone stayed quiet.
"I got first place…." Izuku said in a daze.
"I got second place….DEKU YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE BENEATH ME! HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET FIRST! TELL ME!"
"Kacchan I don't know it just happened!"
A fight had to be broken up, but Izuku was ecstatic, he had done his best, worked his body to death, and lived up to people's expectations, he got first.
'I actually did it…'
