Y/n
I looked at my phone screen—it was 3 AM. I felt a little scared. I picked up my phone and decided I should call Emma. I got up to check her room, but she wasn't there. She might be with Max. I dialed her number.
She picked up after a few rings.
Emma: "Ah, Y/N, I'm sorry, I just forgot… actually, I'm at Max's house… are you okay?"
"I-I just... I'm okay."
Emma: "Okay, I'll come in the morning."
"Okay," I said, hanging up. But I couldn't calm down. The voice, the whispering, was still echoing in my mind. My hands were shaking. I had to call Kayden.
I dialed his number. He picked up almost immediately.
Kayden: "Y/N, are you okay?"
"Please, come here, Kayden."
Kayden: "Y/N, talk to me. Are you alright? I'm on my way, just stay on the line."
"I-I'm scared, Kayden." My voice trembled, and I tried to control my breathing, but it was hard.
Kayden: "I'll be there in a few minutes, just stay with me. You're not alone, okay?"
I nodded, though he couldn't see me, my hands shaking uncontrollably. It felt like someone was watching me, but when I looked around, there was nothing. My heart pounded in my chest, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't alone in the room.
Kayden: "Y/N, please. Talk to me, baby. Let me help you."
"I-I feel like someone's here, Kayden. I don't know what's happening…"
Kayden: "Where's you friend? Is she there with you?"
"She's with Max, her boyfriend," I said, trying to steady my voice, but it came out weak. "I'm all alone."
Kayden: "Don't worry, Y/N, I'm on my way. Just stay calm, okay?"
I could hear the concern in his voice, and I tried to cling to his words, but the fear was suffocating me. Every little noise, every creak in the floorboards, made my heart race faster.
Then, out of nowhere, there was a sharp knock at the door.
"I-Is that you, Kayden?"
Kayden: "Yeah, open the door."
I rushed to the door, my hands still shaking, and quickly pulled it open. There, standing in the hallway, was Kayden. He pulled me into a tight hug, his warmth immediately comforting.
"I'm scared, Kayden... someone wants to kill me," I whispered, trying not to cry. The words felt foreign, but they were the truth.
Kayden: "I'm here, Y/N. Don't be scared. I won't let anything happen to you."
We stood there for a while, his arms wrapped tightly around me, and I could feel the tension in my body slowly begin to ease. But after a few minutes, I noticed something—Kayden was shirtless.
I pulled away, confused.
Kayden: "Actually, I... I thought something happened to you, so—"
I nodded, understanding the worry in his voice, but before he could say more, he started to turn away.
"N-no, please don't go," I said, my voice trembling as I grabbed his hand, holding on tighter than I meant to.
Kayden: "I'm not going anywhere, Y/N."
He locked the door behind him, then turned to look at me. I realized, suddenly, I was only wearing a t-shirt, and the cold air made me feel exposed.
Kayden: "Do you want to sleep?"
I nodded, but hesitated. The fear from earlier was still clinging to me, and the voices—those whispers—still echoed in the back of my mind.
"The voice..." I whispered, my breath catching.
Before I could say more, Kayden moved quickly, picking me up in his arms.
Kayden: "Don't worry. I'll make you forget about all of that." His voice was calm, soothing, as he carried me toward my room.
He kicked the door open with his foot and locked it behind him, the sound of the lock clicking making my heart race again. But Kayden was there, steadying me, and I tried to focus on him instead of the growing anxiety.
He gently laid me down on the bed, then settled beside me. The warmth of his presence helped to calm the storm of fear inside me.
Kayden: "I'm right here, Y/N. Just sleep. You're safe now."
Kayden: "Do you want to hug me?"
I nodded without a word. He wrapped his arms around me tightly, pulling me close. I could feel the warmth of his body against mine, and for a moment, everything else seemed to fade away. He placed a soft kiss on my forehead, his lips lingering there for just a second.
We were so close now, and I could tell from the slight tremor in his body that he was nervous too.
Kayden: "Y/N... umm... can I... touch you? Please?"
His voice was hesitant, almost pleading. I wasn't sure how to respond. I had never felt this vulnerable before, but the way he asked... so gently, so carefully... I wasn't sure what to say.
"Okay," I whispered, feeling my heart race.
He slowly placed his hand on my back, his touch warm and comforting. But then he paused, as if sensing something, and his voice grew softer.
Kayden: "Y/N... you're not wearing anything under your t-shirt?"
I froze, realizing that I wasn't. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment. I shook my head, feeling exposed and uncertain.
Kayden: "Y/N, you know how hard it is ....to control..."
Before I could say anything, he gently flipped me over, now pressing me against his chest. My breath hitched as I felt the heat of his body against mine. His grip on my waist was firm, yet somehow reassuring.
Kayden: "It's okay, Y/N. Just trust me."
"K-kayden"
Kayden leaned in and placed a soft, wet kiss on my neck.
Kayden: "Mmmm... what, baby?" His voice was low, almost a whisper.
Without thinking, I blurted out, "Are you that stupid thief?"
He immediately froze, his lips no longer touching my skin.
Kayden: "Thief?" His voice was confused, like he didn't understand what I had just said.
I turned to face him, seeing the confusion in his eyes.
Kayden: "What are you talking about, Y/N?" He asked, sounding completely clueless.
I didn't know why I said that. I wasn't even sure where the thought had come from. I quickly looked away, flustered.
"N-nothing... just sleep," I muttered, wrapping my arms around him and burying my head against his chest, trying to push the strange feeling away.
I eventually drifted off to sleep, but something still lingered in the back of my mind. It was different now, like there was a part of me that couldn't shake the feeling of that thief. After a while, I glanced over and saw Kayden was fast asleep beside me. But I couldn't find rest myself.
