Y/n POV
"I need to talk to Ben. Please excuse me," I said, my eyes fixed on the ground, avoiding everyone's gaze.
Kayden took a step forward. "Y/N—"
Before he could finish, Cassie cut in. "Please, just go. Leave us… alone."
I hesitated for a moment, then nodded silently and walked outside. A strange ache settled in my chest.
Why does this hurt so much?
I let out a quiet sigh as I stepped into the cool air, trying to push the feeling away.
"Good morning, Uncle Ben," I said as he turned to face me.
"Ah, Y/N! Good morning," Mr. Ben greeted with a warm smile. "Well, I heard that Mr. Scott moved your desk into his office. Actually, I was the one who suggested it—this week is really important for the company."
I nodded. "Yeah, I saw it this morning."
He let out a small sigh before handing me a file. "Y/N, can you take this to Mr. Scott? I was about to deliver it myself, but since you're here..."
"Oh, okay! No problem." I took the file from him and turned toward the door.
Don't worry, Y/N. You can do this, I told myself.
I started walking toward Mr. Scott's office, but then I heard—
Kayden: "Are you out of your mind?!"
Cassie: "Really? You're talking to me like this now?"
Kayden: "It was a mistake, Daisy."
Cassie: "It's Cassie, by the way!"
Kayden: "Oh, whatever. But I don't feel anything for you, so you better move on."
Cassie: "Well, maybe you should've said that before that night!"
Kayden: "It was a mistake... I was drunk."
Cassie: "Really? Well, I'll make sure that no matter what, you and I will end up together, Kayden."
Kayden: "Ju—"
Before he could finish, I knocked on the office door.
Kayden: "Come in."
I peeked in and said, "Sir, this is the file Mr. Ben asked me to give you."
Kayden: "Yeah, come in."
I stepped inside and placed the file on his desk.
Cassie: "Hey, Y/N."
I turned to see her standing there.
"Yes?"
She pointed toward Kayden. "You said you don't like him, right?"
"Ca—" Before I could finish, the door swung open, and Mr. Annoying walked in.
Mr. Annoying: "Hey, b—" He stopped mid-sentence when he noticed Cassie.
We all stared at him as he casually stepped inside and plopped down on the couch.
Mr. Annoying: "Kayden."
Kayden: "Nothing, it—"
Cassie: "Y/N, we'll talk later."
I sighed. "Cassie, please don't drag me into this... And yeah, like I said before, I don't like anyone."
Kayden: "Can you just get out of my office?" he snapped at Cassie.
I could see the anger in his eyes. Without another word, Cassie turned and walked out.
Mr. Annoying: "Ahh, what a drama..." he muttered before shifting his attention elsewhere. "Anyway, what's this?" He pointed at my desk.
Kayden: "It's Y/N's desk, Coel!"
Mr. Annoying (Coel): "Yeah, I can see that... By the way, Y/N, I came to tell you that I'm going to Paris for a week. You have to come with me."
Kayden: "She's busy, Coel."
Mr annoying: "Did I ask you?"
Kayden: "No, but you should know that she's working in MY DAMN OFFICE, and we're busy this week." He sat down in his chair, clearly irritated.
Before I could react, Mr annoying walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me from behind.
"What are you doing?! Let go of me!" I protested, trying to push Mr annoying away.
But he just chuckled, holding on for a moment longer before finally releasing me.
Mr. Annoying : "Babe, I'll see you tomorrow."
Before I could react, he leaned in and placed a quick kiss on my forehead. My entire body tensed, my hands clenched into fists at my sides.
By the time I processed what had just happened, he was already striding out of the office like nothing was wrong.
I let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing my forehead as if I could erase the feeling of his lips. Turning on my heel, I muttered, "I should check the schedule."
I sat at my desk, opening my laptop and focusing on my tasks. But even as I tried to concentrate, I couldn't shake the awareness of Kayden's presence.
I could feel his gaze on me—sharp, unwavering. It made my skin prickle with unease.
Steeling myself, I kept my eyes glued to the screen, pretending not to notice. But the tension in the room was thick, heavy, almost suffocating.
Why is he staring at me like that?
I saw him get up and walk toward me.
Ooh no, no, please not now. I thought, my heart pounding.
Kayden: "Y/N," he said, his voice hesitant.
I swallowed hard and looked up at him. "Yeah, sir?"
Kayden: "Umm… can we talk?"
I hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Hmm, yes, please." I stood up, feeling uneasy.
Kayden ran a hand through his hair, exhaling shakily. "I-I… Y/N, it was a big mistake."
My brows furrowed. "Wha—"
Kayden: "That girl…"
I crossed my arms. "You mean Cassie?"
He nodded, guilt written all over his face.
I scoffed. "Oh, I'm not interested in hearing what you and her—"
Kayden: "But I want to explain."
"Bu—"
Kayden: "No, you should know. I don't like her. I was drunk when we met in that club. I—I thought it was....y-you that night."
My breath hitched. His words hit me like a storm, but I quickly masked my reaction.
I coughed, trying to ignore the way my chest tightened.
Kayden: "Oh no—Y/N, are you okay?" His eyes widened in concern as he quickly handed me a glass of water.
I took it from him and drank, trying to steady myself. "I'm okay… We should get back to work."
He hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Okay."
With that, we both turned our attention back to work. I focused on calling new investors while Kayden busied himself with some documents, but my mind kept drifting back to his words.
Just as I was starting to focus on my work, the door swung open.
Cassie.
Not again… I mumbled under my breath, gripping my pen tighter. I forced myself to keep my attention on my laptop, but I could feel the tension thickening in the room.
Kayden's voice was sharp. "What are you doing here?"
Cassie crossed her arms. "I'm here to talk."
Kayden let out an exasperated sigh. "Get out before I call the guards."
But Cassie didn't budge. "I need my answer, Kayden."
He clenched his jaw. "Fine. Ask."
I glanced at her. She looked nervous, like she wasn't sure if she really wanted to hear what he had to say.
Cassie took a deep breath. "You said you would be my boyfriend that day."
Kayden's expression hardened. "Because I was angry, that's why—"
Cassie's voice cracked slightly. "So you just used me, Kayden?"
Guilt flickered in his eyes. "I'm sorry for that."
Cassie shook her head, her eyes glistening with frustration. "No. I don't want your sorry."
Kayden frowned. "Then what do you want?"
Cassie took a step closer, her eyes filled with desperation. "Can't you understand…? I want you, Kayden. I love you. I want you to be my boyfriend."
Kayden's expression remained cold. "It's not going to happen."
Cassie's lips curled into a smirk. "Oh, but it will… because you know what? I have our lovemaking video."
Kayden's entire body stiffened. His eyes darkened with anger. "What the fuck… Are you blackmailing me?"
I froze in my seat, my heart pounding. This… This is really happening, right?
*I heard this lines before...aah *
Cassie shrugged nonchalantly. "Call it whatever you want. But if you don't want the whole world to see our precious moments… just be my boyfriend."
With that, she turned on her heel and walked away as if she hadn't just dropped a bombshell.
Kayden didn't hesitate—he stormed after her, his voice sharp with fury.
I sat there, staring after them, completely shocked.
