Erik walked out of the gym with Amber in tow. They were both tired since they not only attended class but also sparred.
As they walked towards their rooms, the two arrived at a part of the building where they had to split, but Amber stopped before leaving.
"Hey, Erik." She turned to face him. "I wanted to tell you that my parents are throwing a party next weekend, and I wanted to invite you. There will be many important people there, so you should attend. It's an occasion to get to know the higher-ups."
"Why should I? It's not like I want to meet them… But I appreciate the invite."
"I know. I would avoid this if I could too, but making connections is part of the job and important for our future. Just come, okay?" Amber's voice carried a note of pleading.
Erik was grateful for the invitation; he really was, but he didn't really like people, especially not those from Frant.
He had already been to one of Amber's parents' parties, which wasn't a pleasant experience for him.
