Jane stood there dumbfounded. She has no idea why he behaved so distant and cold towards her now. They didn't have a fight so what happened. On the contrary, they had the best night of their life.
Jane lost her appetite and made way to the room. She opened the door and Chris was there on the bed with his head bowed. Something seems to be wrong, she can't shake the feeling off no matter how hard she tries.
"You would rather sit here alone than be with your wife? Do you regret marrying me already?" Jane teased and Chris was forced to lift his head. He heard it when she came inside the room, but he's just too afraid to face her.
"Nonsense! I will take a million opportunities to marry you again and again?" Chris said and smiled. He thought seeing her face would make him sad.
But he was wrong. Seeing her face is giving him all the necessary strength he needs. Jane walked up to him and sat on his legs. Chris helped her adjust so she would be comfortable.
Jane took the initiative and kissed him on the lips. She can tell he's being troubled by something. Chris responded to her kiss this time and he grew hungry for more.
They kissed each other crazily, their passion building. Chris carried Jane and placed her on the bed so he could be more comfortable. He broke the kiss and looked into her eyes with so much tenderness and emotions.
"You are extremely beautiful Jane, and I'm sorry." Chris said unable to control his emotions. He didn't mean to say that, but his heart did its thing.
"What are you sorry for?" Jane asked and Chris rolled off her. His eyes watered with tears, but he did his best to control himself.
"I'm sorry for not meeting and recognising you sooner. If I had known, I would have married you immediately." Chris said, caressing her face trying not to burst into tears.
Jane, who thought he was talking about her beauty and how much he loves her, blushed at his words. She kissed him again, and this time, the kiss was more gentle.
"I think we should be on our way. If I stay one more minute here with you. I'm going to confine you to this bed and make love to you all day." Chris said, and Jane giggled.
"I don't mind, I would love that." Jane said, and Chris nodded his head.
"I promise when we return from the mansion that I'm all yours. But trust me, you will be pleased with my surprise." Chris said, and Jane sighed. She wondered what he's talking about.
"Hmmm, I also want to see the kids. I have not seen them in days." Jane said, and Chris agreed with her.
"I will wait for you in the garden while you get ready." Chris said and gave her another kiss before leaving.
Chris and Jane arrived at the mansion. Jane didn't have much to eat, so she was hungry. She's sure they must have prepared breakfast and she will get something to eat.
"Welcome home, my lovelies." Grace emerged as soon as the mansion door opened. Charles, Estella, and the staff were all there to welcome them as well.
"Welcome brother, welcome sister in law." Grace said, and Jane blushed. All of these still feel so surreal.
"Welcome home, Mr and Mrs Smith." The maids greeted with their heads bowed.
"Thank you guys, thank you, Estella." Jane said and hugged Estella, who was beaming with so much joy and pride.
She could not believe her ears when she heard the announcement last night. She always knew something was between those two, but didn't think it would result in something so serious like this.
Thelma and the girls were so happy and couldn't wait to be alone with their friend so she could tell them everything.
Tessy, on the other hand, was dying of jealousy. Not only did Jane take away her position as Mr Chris's maid, but she also went ahead and married him.
She should have kicked her out of the mansion at all cost when she had the chance. Now she would have to answer to Jane as she's the new lady of the house.
"We prepared a feast for you, please come with us to the dining area and have breakfast." Estella said finding it hard not to cry.
"Estella are you okay?" Grace noticed and asked.
"I'm fine, it's just that I can't control my joy. I've always wanted your brother to get married. Have you forgotten that I raised him?" Estella cried out and everyone laughed. Chris moved closer to Estella and gave her a hug.
"Congratulations my boy," Estella patted his back.
"Thank you Estella, you can stop crying now." Chris said.
Charles was also emotional and sniffed back his tears.
"Not you too Charles. Remember you promised to retire as soon as I get married. So it's time for you to retire." Chris said to him and hugged him.
"I'm so proud of you, my boy." Old Charles said, and everyone felt sweet at heart.
"Mummy! Daddy!" Little Chris and Jane ran towards Chris and Jane.
"Aunt Grace said you both got married. Does that mean, dad is my dad for real?" Little Chris asked his eyes filled with hope and Jane didn't know how to answer that.
Chris brought himself on his knees and took little Chris's hand. He kissed and hugged him as he felt so emotional. This is son, his own flesh and blood.
"I'm your real dad Chris. I've always been your real dad. That means there's no use waiting for a new daddy because I'm the only daddy that you have." Chris said and little Chris's eyes sparkled with joy.
"Really?" He asked his mother, who nodded at him. Jane has no idea what Chris is up to, but she trusts him completely.
"Come here, Jane." Chris said and hugged both his children.
"We should get going, the food is already served." Estella said and everyone headed towards the dining hall. With little Chris and Jane flocking around their parents.
As soon as Jane stepped into the dinning hall, she caught sight of someone that felt familiar. But she didn't want to jump to conclusions. Jack was also seated beside the person.
"You are welcome ma'am, you are welcome boss." Jack said, welcoming them both. Jane felt awkward hearing everyone address her with so much respect.
She was just a maid weeks ago, and now she's the new lady of the house. The lady at the table stood up and turned and Jane almost passed out.
"Jane!" Cassie called out her voice bleak.
"Cassie?" Jane's voice cracked into sobs as she squinted her eyes to be sure she's seeing well.
"Cassie?" She called again and walked towards her.
"Yes my friend, it's me." Cassie said and Jane looked at Chris who had his hand crossed over his chest.
"Is this the surprise you were referring to Chris?" Jane asked and Chris nodded.
"Yes darling, I hope you are surprised?" Chris teased her.
"Are you kidding me? I am shocked? How did this happen? How…." Jane stammered.
"We will tell you all about it after breakfast, but right now, let's eat." Chris said to Jane and brought her to her seat.
