Chris's eyes widened with shock as soon as he heard that name.
"What did you just say?" Chris asked her. He walked up to her, his eyes bloodshot.
"Did you just say Jane?" Chris shook her violently as he asked her.
"Ummm yes! Sorry, but you are hurting me." Cassie cried out, but Chris didn't pay any attention to her. His mind felt cloudy as different thoughts crept into his head.
"Mr Chris, please stop this." Jack said and threw his hand off her.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!!" Chris said and staggered as he struggled to breathe. There's no way Jane is the girl he has been looking for all these years. She was right there staring at his face and she had no idea.
"Mr Chris, are you okay? Are you okay cassie?" Jack asked.
"I'm fine, but I don't think he is. How in the world does he have Jane's bracelet with him?" Cassie asked, confused.
"How do you know Jane? I want you to explain everything to me carefully, please." Chris pleaded.
"Jane and I grew up in the same orphanage. We were best friends and inseparable. I'm the crazy one, while she was quiet. Sadly we both didn't get adopted by any family and were stuck at the orphanage. We wanted more for ourselves, so I suggested that we run away from the orphanage." Cassie said her eyes filled with tears.
"We were grateful that the orphanage took us in, but we wanted more. A life, a family and a future. So we left that night, six years ago. But something happened that night." Cassie continued as Chris and Jack listened attentively.
"Jane cut her foot and I took her to one of the alleys so she could rest while I went in search of medicine. Before I returned, Cassie was gone and I haven't seen her ever since." Cassie concluded and Chris trembled.
Jane is really the girl from that night. He remembered her begging him to let her go. She said her friend only went to get medicine.
Jack brought out his phone and showed Cassie a picture of Jane to be sure they are talking about the same thing.
"Yes, that's Jane. Do you have any idea where my friend is? I have been looking for her all these years." Cassie said and tears dropped from Chris's eyes.
He could feel his stomach tightened, and his body numb. He staggered out of the ward and began walking away. He didn't know where he was going, but he would love to get lost for a little while.
"Jane!" He muttered silently as he walked away. He can't believe the woman he hurt terribly ended up being the woman he can't live without now.
How in the world will he explain himself to her now? Will she even forgive him? What if she wants nothing to do with him after he tells her the truth. That he was the monster from that night.
"What's happening Jack? How come he has Jane's bracelet, and why did he react like that?" Cassie asked.
"I don't know what's happening myself. But I believe something serious must have happened that night you left Jane." Jack said his brows furrowed together.
He would love to know what happened to his sister that night, and he won't rest until he gets to the bottom of it.
"And Jane is Mr Chris's wife." Jack revealed, and Cassie was shocked.
"What!" She exclaimed with her palm over her mouth.
"Yes, it's a long story. She started out as his maid, but they fell madly in love with each other. They got married last night in fact, and what's more? Jane is a mother as well." Jack explained things to her, and Cassie's mouth dropped.
"Are you saying that my friend married the richest man in the country? You know where Jane is?" She asked Jack tugging at his arm.
"Yes! I see her everyday in fact. I will take you to see her tomorrow. I'm sure she will be thrilled to see you as well. You both have a lot of things to catch up on." Jack said and cassie could not contain the joy was feeling at that very moment.
Chris came back into the room a little more collected. He went to the bathroom to wash up, and was able to calm down.
"Mr Chris you are here. Is it true that you married Jane and you have a son? Jack has been telling me a lot, but I don't believe him. It sounds too good to be true." Cassie said.
"Yes Jane is my wife and the love of my life. And yes! We do have a son." He said that and paused.
A son? Chris thought in his mind. If Jane was the girl from that night, which had been established. Does that mean he's Chris's father?
He gasped at the realisation of the possibility. Well unless it wasn't that night that got her pregnant which he highly doubts.
Jane was going to tell him something serious last night. She said Chris's father isn't dead, and that something happened from her past. She must have wanted to tell him about the incident.
Oh goodness! He was losing his mind right now.
"Mr Christopher!" Cassie called, pulling him from his thoughts.
"Sorry about that. It's just that I miss my wife. Cassie, you will go with Jack to the mansion. I will return to the villa and bring Jane in the morning. I'm sure you both have been dying to see each other all these while." Chris said and managed to put on a smile.
"Yes of course that would be lovely. Thank you so much." Cassie was thrilled. She still can't believe all of this is real.
Chris arrived at the Villa very early in the morning. He stayed at the hospital a few more hours. He didn't want to return home, as he had no idea how he would react to seeing Jane for the first time after learning the truth.
He also asked Jack and Cassie to keep the necklace incident away from Jane for the time being. He said he would like to be the one that would tell her about it.
They agreed, but he can only hope that they keep their word to him.
Jane was still sleeping when he got to the room. He removed his cloth and laid beside her, careful not to wake her up.
He turned his face to the other side, as he didn't even have the courage to look at her. Maybe in the morning when he sees her, he will feel better. But right now, he feels like shit and can't help it.
Jane opened her eyes with a smile plastered all over her face. She had the best night of her life plastered all over her face. Chris was so gentle like he promised, and she enjoyed every bit of it.
She tossed and turned but the bed was empty of Chris's presence. She wondered where he went.
She walked out of bed, and was surprised to see him eating alone.
"You should have woken me up." Jane said, catching his attention. Chris froze on the spot.
He could feel his heart beating so fast in his chest, and his pupils dilated immediately. Jane walked up to him and kissed him on the lips, but he didn't respond.
"I didn't want to disturb you, figured you must have been tired. I will be in the room while you eat. You should be fast. We are heading to the mansion. I have a surprise for you." Chris said and walked out in a hurry.
