Chapter 248 - Chapter 248

Grace covered her mouth using her hand and then took her phone. She quickly checked a date and showed it to Mike.

"I left the country three months after the incident. Did you notice anything three months before? Did Patricia come into your office that day, perhaps?" Grace asked, and Mike eyes widened with shock.

"Yes she did come into my office. In fact, I met her in my office that day, and something did seem off. It was as though she was doing something bad." Mike narrated, brushing his hair with his finger. It seems as though he was losing his mind

"And I even caught my briefcase with her. She said she was only trying to help me clean. Oh my goodness!" Mike exclaimed.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Grace asked him, and he nodded his head.

"Patricia was the one who read the letter. She then deceived me into writing this letter and sent it to you. She separated us on purpose. She had this all planned from the beginning." Mike said.

"I remember the day we had sex, I didn't even remember anything that happened. I woke up that morning, and she was by my side. She said she was pregnant a month later. That's why I was forced to make that announcement and married her." Mike said.

"But why would she plan all of that? It's not like she's crazy in love with you and didn't want to lose you." Grace said.

"That still doesn't give her the right to do that? Was she even pregnant?" Mike asked and Grace moved closer to him closing the gap between them.

She could tell that he was losing his mind at that point and she needed to console him.

"I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for all of these. Why don't you ask her? I know Patricia has always been vile because she's best friends with Angel. But I don't think she would stoop so low." Grace said trying to defend her.

She didn't want to believe any of their thoughts was possible. If not, she would lose it for real.

"Well I think she's more than capable. I'm married to her, and I lived with her. This is something she can do. I don't know how I was so stupid and allowed her to fool me for so long." Mike scolded himself.

"It's okay, Mike. I'm sure we will get to the bottom of this." Grace said.

"This is the reason why I must divorce her. I can't continue to be married to such a person. Grace, I need to go home, there's something I must do." Mike said, and Grace felt reluctant to let him go.

"Are you sure it's okay for you to go home in this state?" Grace asked him, and he nodded his head.

"I must get to the bottom of this, I can't wait another day." Mike said, and Grace nodded. She would also love to know what happened on that day.

"Alright, just be careful." Grace said.

"I love you," Mike kissed her on the lips and headed out.

"I love you too," Grace said after him and watched him walk out of the mansion.

Mike arrived at the house, his eyes bloodshot with rage. Patricia who had been waiting for him to return saw him come in and made way to him.

"Hey Mike you are here, I've been waiting for you. What was so urgent at the Smith's mansion that you had to hurry away." Patricia asked him. He didn't want to say a word to her at first, but he decided to answer her.

"Since when did you care about the things that I do?" Mike asked her and she was shocked at his response. The Mike she knows will never speak to her in that manner even though he doesn't care for her.

"Is anything the matter, Mike? You just came back from the Smith's mansion, and you are speaking to me in such a manner.Did something serious happen over there? How is Christopher?" Patricia asked, following Mike, who was already in the sitting room.

Hearing her last statement, Mike paused and turned to look at her. He really didn't want to talk about this at first, but it seems it's impossible to shy away from.

"What did you say?" Mike asked Patricia, and she frowned in confusion. Mike is not the type to drink, but he does seems to be drunk at this point. Why is he speaking to her like that?

"I was only asking you how Chris is doing? I thought he was the reason why you were called to the mansion. Did he hurt himself again?" Patricia asked, her voice laced with worry. Mike could see the deep affection in her eyes as she talked about Chris.

"Now I get it." Mike said with a nod and Patricia became really afraid. She has no idea what he's on about, but he's starting to scare her.

"You are in love with Chris," Mike accused Patricia, and her eyes widened with shock.

"What in the world are you saying? This is nonsense. What do you mean I'm in love with Chris?" Patricia laughed sheepishly, avoiding Mike's gaze. She has no idea how he found her out, but she can't let him know he's right.

"You know while we were in college. I heard you and Angel fight one time. I mean, I witnessed it at the library because I was there that day. You accused Angel of stealing Chris away from you because she knew you were in love with him." Mike began to say, and Patricia shivered.

"My love, that was a long time ago. It was just a teenage crush. We were in high school, and I got over it already." Patrica tried to deny it.

"I thought so, too. Especially after I saw you and Angel back to being friends the next day. I thought it wasn't serious, and you accepted the fact that Chris loves Angel and not you." Mike added bewildered.

"Exactly Mike, that's what happened." Patricia said.

"Only that I was wrong. You never got over, Chris. You only pretended to." Mike revealed, moving closer to Patricia.

"And why would I do that?" Patricia yelled, pretending to be angry.

"I have no idea, maybe for revenge. But whatever nonsense is going on in your head is the reason why you married me!" Mike yelled, and Patricia was stunned.

"What!" She exclaimed.

"You heard me, Patricia! That was the reason why you separated Grace and I." Mike retorted.
