Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: He's Not My Dad

"That's old news. What kind of computer do you want to buy? Let's go now." Michael Knight smiled gently, looking at Polly Sutton to let her decide.

"You can go to the mall?"

Michael Knight laughed again, "Do you have some misconceptions about celebrities? Fans greeting at the airport is not only a perk for them but also part of a celebrity's job. Otherwise, how do you think they know the celebrities' flight schedule? Out of the large population nationwide, how many can actually chase stars? If you don't say you're a celebrity on the streets, who'd know?"

Polly Sutton felt that, even though she couldn't understand it, it seemed quite sensible.

Meanwhile, at the birthday party, Mrs. Parker had no choice but to admit through clenched teeth that Victor Parker had been married for some time and that the couple had just been playing around.

The other ladies at the party began to look at Mrs. Parker differently, as she'd been arranging blind dates for her son before.

The two children who snuck in quietly just happened to overhear this part. Little Tommy was fully focused on the food, while little Benny furrowed his brows. It's not a romance, but they're married already?

Even though he and his elder brother were already considered legal, it seemed like a divorce might be more troublesome than a breakup.

"Benny, it's that handsome uncle," little Tommy softly reminded his brother.

Little Benny furrowed his brows, holding his brother's hand, "Let's go. We need to get back to school, or Mom will find out."

"Huh?" Little Tommy was confused; wasn't it his brother who brought him here?

"But I want to..." Little Tommy looked back at the party three times with each step, yet he let his brother lead him away.

"I'll buy you something tasty later when we go out. Didn't Mom say that all those good-looking ones are liars, right?"

Little Tommy tilted his head in thought; it seemed to be said.

But wasn't it his brother who asked him to go?

Everybody - adults and children alike - seemed so weird.

At the party, Andrew Lindsey moved through the crowd, whispering in Victor Parker's ear, "Just saw little Tommy, seemed like he brought a classmate, but then left."

"Where?" Victor Parker spoke as he went out with Andrew Lindsey, but saw only the back of a departing taxi. Victor Parker furrowed his brows slightly, "Get the license plate number, go get the car."

Is it that brainless people are so bold? He dared to take a taxi himself?

Michael Knight thought he wasn't famous to the point where everyone across the country would know him, and indeed, during the computer purchase, aside from a few curious glances, no blocking incidents happened.

There was no problem when Polly Sutton bought the computer.

"See, I told you," Michael Knight said, a bit smug.

"Are you not that famous, trying to trick me?" Polly Sutton recalled seeing scenes on TV where celebrities appeared surrounded by swarms of fans; here, there weren't any?

Michael Knight laughed out loud leaning against the steering wheel. He didn't know why, but he found Polly Sutton's goofy manner adorable.

But while laughing, he suddenly stopped. "Am I paying this debt off too fast, for how will I find you later?"

Polly Sutton was puzzled, "You can find me if you want; why do you need a reason?"

Polly Sutton spoke casually, catching Michael Knight off guard, who then quickly softened his expression with warmth, "Alright, you said it."

Polly was still fiddling with her new computer, feeling overjoyed, "Of course, I said it."

"Are you not afraid Victor Parker will be angry?"

"Why would I be afraid of him being angry?" Polly asked confusedly looking at Michael Knight, "He's not my dad. Why should I report to him when making friends?"

Polly spoke naturally, and Michael couldn't help but internally light a candle for his friend, realizing the young lady truly didn't care about him.

In that case, does he still have a chance?

Though the general public may not recognize Michael Knight, his fans would instantly recognize him even if he wore sunglasses and a mask, not to mention he took off the glasses midway.

The University A fans lamented loudly, feeling their idol secretly dated behind their backs.

The fan group included Polly Sutton's senior, Emma Turner.

After Polly got off the car and bid farewell to Michael Knight, she received Emma's furious message along with a video.

[Emma Turner: Michael Knight, that scumbag, is in a relationship? I spend money on his endorsements for him to support other women?]

[Polly Sutton: [Small head big doubts.jpg]}

[Polly Sutton: You're a fan?]

[Emma Turner: Is that the point? How do you think I spent all my salary?]

[Polly Sutton: You're a fan of Michael Knight!!!]

Polly watched Michael Knight's departing car, wondering if she should call for an autograph to mend her senior's broken heart.

Wait, dating?

Polly suddenly felt something was off, opening up the video Emma sent, feeling a sense of realization.

The video showed only her back, not too clear, with the photographer focusing on Michael Knight. He was clear in the video, including when he took off his glasses to discuss computers with her, though she couldn't see where the tenderness was.

Polly exited the video and began typing.

[Emma Turner: If I find out who that woman is, I'm going to kill her, return my money!]

[Emma Turner: Plus, this back looks familiar.]

Instantly, Polly deleted the typed words and looked down at her dress, thanking the heavens that Emma hadn't seen her in formal wear.

Meanwhile, Victor Parker, who followed the taxi to school, also found this news that didn't hit the hot search; Andrew Lindsey showed it to him.

Victor Parker watched the "intimate" interaction in the video, his expression beyond merely unpleasant.

The taxi reached the school, and Victor saw three kids get off from a distance, two boys and a girl, presumably classmates; seeing them go in, he was reassured.

"Go to Polly's school."

Andrew Lindsey turned the car around. Everyone perhaps knew where University A was.

"Also, check if anyone suspicious was around Tommy."

"Is the boss afraid someone might use him?" Tommy's behavior was indeed strange.

But it seemed Miss Sutton was unaware, mainly because she really might not have the brains.

Polly returned home, changing clothes and watching her senior angrily unfollowing, feeling utterly laid-back.

"Unfollow, unfollow, hurry up," Polly said as the doorbell rang. She'd just taken half of her dress off, kicking a high heel to the side, "Wait, probably Professor Hills coming to see his wife, I'll get the door."

Polly tucked her phone under her arm, trying to unbuckle the other high heel with one hand, the black dress strap dangling on one side, hopping on one foot as she opened the door, "Professor Hills, my teacher's wife..."
