Ren cursed nonstop in his head.
The rattle of metal hinges echoed through the chamber, followed by a thunderous boom that shook the entire ground. A massive stone slab had fallen behind him—his escape route was gone.
There was no way out. No more running. Only death waited ahead.

Ren's mind went into overdrive. His brain was burning from trying to come up with a plan. Everything pointed to one conclusion—he was going to die. The EXP penalty alone would cripple his ATP for days. Still, he gritted his teeth. If he was going down, he might as well make it worth it.
At least, he told himself, he'd gain something from this—valuable information about Amol Sha's attack patterns and the Greater Basilisk's behavior. Even death was data in COVENANT.
If he was going to die, then he'd die fighting. He'd test how far he could push the Boss. If he could just force Amol Sha into Berserk Mode before the end, that'd be worth it.
Sweat ran down his temple as he hit Engage.
