Chapter 12 - Sanctuary (L)

"Do you really trust them?" She asked. "Of course I do... if it wasn't for them then who knows how long we'd be floating around doing nothing but annoying each other?" Lukas replied. "I still don't think you should trust them... and I'm not concerned for you before you ask... your the only one that can hear me and I'm not going to let something kill you... again I'm not concerned for your safety, I'm concerned for my sanity." She explained, trying her best to convince Lukas. "Well let me say something that I have told you hundreds of times... but I'll say it slowly this time so you might be able to understand... I do not care about what you think." Lukas sighed as he was tired of repeating himself. "Lukas... who are you talking to?" Someone suddenly asked as the door opened. Lukas jumped in shock as he didn't think that anyone would bother checking if he was alright. "Oh... Dream... sorry you scared me a bit." Lukas admitted as he was recovering from the shock. "Sorry! I just wanted to see if you were fine... it's... you know... people talking to themselves normally isn't a good sign for their mental health." Dream apologised. "Oh... right I forgot... I wasn't talking to myself I was talking to... hang on a second." Lukas explained as he ran to the door, pulled Dream through and then shut the door. "Okay...promise that you won't tell anyone... it isn't really that big of a deal anyways." Lukas practically demanded but Dream didn't respond right away as Lukas' sudden action surprised him. "Uh... sure?" Dream replied as he was still a little surprised. "Okay... well I don't know her name but-" Lukas was saying but he got cut off. "Don't say anymore Lukas... I had my suspicions when I first found you... I don't know who she is... but I know that the orb that you carry isn't just a pretty looking gem. I haven't told anyone and I don't intend to... but make sure that at some point in the next few years that you tell someone... alright?" Dream asked. "Oh... sure... do you mind telling me how you know all of this though?" Lukas inquired. "Fine... come with me and I'll show you." Dream agreed as he exited the room.

Lukas hadn't really seen any part of The Sanctuary except for his own room as he kept his head down most of the time that he had been walking around... but now that he looked around, he saw how amazing it truly was... it was like a giant white palace just floating in the centre of The Multiverse... it must have been the only place in The Multiverse to have gravity... even though how The Sanctuary could float and have gravity without being round like a planet was still a mystery to Lukas. "Come on Lukas!" Dream shouted as Lukas had almost completely stopped as he was in awe and taking in the beauty of The Sanctuary. "Oh right sorry!" Lukas yelled back as he started running towards Dream. "You know he isn't showing you how he got all of this information right? He's leading you to a trap... come on this stuff is obvious!" She explained. Lukas didn't listen to her as he didn't believe her... it was obvious that she was just trying her best to convince him and she was failing horribly. "Wow... you really live in this place?" Lukas asked once he caught up. "No... I live in the Anti Void where all of The Destroyers live, don't tell anyone that I'm a Destroyer though because that'll blow my cover... oops I just said it out loud looks like I just blew my own cover... that's a joke if you couldn't tell." Dream spoke suddenly as Lukas could barely stop himself from laughing. "Oh... you really found that funny? Seriously I have no sense of humour and even I could make a better joke than that!" She exclaimed as she was obviously very annoyed. "Come on that was genuinely very funny... if I didn't know any better, I would think that you're jealous because you're not as good at telling jokes as he is." Lukas replied quietly so no one else would hear. "Why would I be jealous of some mortal being?" She asked. "You call him mortal but you're dead and he's not." Lukas said whilst smiling to himself. "Lukas... do you plan to stand around and talk to yourself all day or do you actually want to learn something important?" Dream shouted at Lukas. Lukas ran after Dream again after realising how long he had been talking to "himself".

"This is what I wanted to show you." Dream explained whilst gesturing to a huge door with the word "Library" written at the top of the frame. "I wouldn't go in there... the truth might be too much for your poor little soul to handle." She suggested. Lukas ignored her and pushed the door open... Lukas' jaw dropped open as he saw what was inside... he knew it was a library but he didn't expect the bookshelves to be around five hundred metres tall! "How much knowledge could all of these shelves contain?" Lukas thought to himself. "I probably know all of the information within those books." She said as she suddenly interrupted Lukas' own thoughts. "Wait... she can read minds?" Lukas thought to himself again. "No... no I cannot read minds." She replied which made Lukas smile a bit. "Well... I didn't want to show you the library... but there is something that is in the library that I want to show you... follow me." Dream spoke as he once again leading the way with Lukas following behind. Dream walked by at least ten bookcases before stopping in front of one and he gestured for Lukas to look at the books. "What is so special about these? Why do they look so... different?" Lukas asked. The books had interesting designs and patterns on them... it truly made them stand out from the rest. "These are prophecies Lukas... well completed ones at least... before you ask, we do not know where these came from... from what we know, they must have existed since the beginning of time... they predict events that will happen in the future and so far all of them have been correct." Dream replied. "You said that these are all the completed ones... so where are the incomplete ones if you don't mind me asking?" Lukas questioned Dream. "That's what I've come here to show you... they're one aisle over." Dream answered. Lukas walked over to the incomplete prophecies and started reading several seemingly impossible scenarios that The Multiverse will eventually be put through. The few he read were very interesting... and scary to Lukas. "The Symbol of the Cross" was one that intrigued Lukas the most along with "Fear" as it was simply titled.

Lukas reached out to a red and black book after reading a few of them before Dream stopped him. "This prophecy is the one I wanted to show you... if you think you're ready... then go ahead." Dream explained. Lukas hesitated for a moment before picking the book up and opening it. "Oh... I remember this story... I don't know where I know it from though." She spoke with a noticeable amount of sarcasm. "The Cataclysmic Catastrophe. Two brothers will invade The Multiverse and on it they shall leave their mark. They will attempt to destroy everything that exists including light and dark. A god in a boy's body shall arrive and make the age pass. The air becomes toxic around the brother's presence like an inescapable gas. When the brothers have fallen, the sister shall emerge. Reality shall break and give in to the urge. Xeroc will arrive and thus begins his purge. The gods shall die and then begin their dirge." Lukas read out loud. "What does this have to do with me?" Lukas asked. "Lukas... those letters aren't from any language we know of... you just translated all of that to English without knowing it. No one else can read that." Dream replied. Lukas looked shocked, he looked back at the book only to realise that it was not in English at all... and he had never seen any symbols like the ones on the page before. "The rest of the pages are burnt out... except for one at the back...would you care to translate that?" Dream requested. Lukas nodded as he turned to the back page of the book... he didn't read that part out loud though. "Say her name to invite The Great Calamity. Ignore these words and she'll leave you be. My brothers are Cataclysm and Catastrophe. Come on Lukas... don't you want to invite me? "At the bottom of the page, there was a symbol that Lukas, yet again, instantly knew what it meant... he didn't dare say it though... he knew that it was "her" name... "The Great Calamity" Calamitas... and he knew that he was just inviting her back into the living world if he even whispered her name. Lukas slammed the book close before putting it back slowly.

"What...what did it say Lukas?" Dream asked as he was shocked from Lukas sudden movement. "Who... is Xeroc... or Catastrophe or Cataclysm?" Lukas asked as he ignored Dream's question. "Xeroc? Xeroc is a being that people say created reality... they also say that if you catch so much of a glimpse of him... you'll go insane... I don't know about Cataclysm or Catastrophe though... did the book mention them?" Dream questioned Lukas. "Yes they did... they also mentioned someone else but... anyways you said that you got all of this information of yours from this book... yet I'm the only one that can read it... so how do you know all of this?" Lukas inquired whilst changing the subject. "The pattern on the cover of the book... there's an orb on it that looks like the one that you have. You have given me another reason to believe it has to do with you because it also speaks of a god that looks like a young boy... like you. I believe that if this prophecy is true... then you will eventually have the strength of a god. Feel free to look at any other books that you're interested in... I need to get back to work." Dream explained as he walked away. "You know... if there's nothing else that you want to read... can you at least read something that I want?" She requested. "Fine...where is it?" Lukas asked. "Three." She replied. Lukas went to get the third book from the left. "Two" She continued. "Are you messing with me?" Lukas asked. "One." She finished as a book dropped to the floor in front of Lukas. Lukas gave her a weird look before opening the book. "Hey!" Somebody shouted which shocked Lukas as everything had been quiet up until now. "Sorry about that... but... I just wanted to say that I was listening to your conversation and... well that prophecy has always been weird... it always seems like it's attracted to beings of great power... it probably sensed some power within you that has yet to be awoken." The random person said. "Oh... okay... who are you?" Lukas asked as he was confused. "Oh right sorry... my name is Draedon... anyways you can read that if you want... it's one line of text and everyone has tried to figure out what it means...it's not like the other prophecies because the others are poems or they just tell you what they want you to know, plain and simple." Draedon explained. "Thank you... um... I guess I'll just read this now." Lukas said as he began reading to himself. "The Tyrant King. When Light and Fear have faded from existence, The Tyrant King shall emerge."

Lukas looked at the book with a confused but interested expression. "Do you have any idea what this means... Draedon?" Lukas asked as he was looking up from the prophecy... but when Lukas looked up, Draedon was gone. "He did seem like he was in a hurry didn't he? I'm sure he just ran off somewhere." She explained. This only made Lukas unsure however... when She says something that seems like it is meant to reassure him... it only makes Lukas worry.

"Do you have a name that I can refer to you as?" "I do... but the question is... would you really care if I told you?" "Of course I would! I'm trying to be friendly here... so I just thought that I should I ask you for your name considering the fact that I never asked you previously." "You... really just want us to be friends? You really... don't care about what I did before?" "Of course I care about what you did before... but I feel like I should try and move past that... I don't think I'll ever be able to accept what happened on that day... but I feel like I should try and accept it." "You... I... I don't understand you." "I don't understand you either... maybe we should fix that. Maybe we should try to understand one another... but it's kind of hard to do that without knowing your name." "You... fine... you win. My name is Bethany... you can just call me Beth." Thank you... Beth... I hope we can fix everything that is making us hate each other."
