Chapter 15 - A Matter Most Dark (L)

When Lukas woke up, he was surprised to find that it was still dark outside, he remembered reading before he went to sleep that Dream put up a giant black barrier around The Sanctuary to make it easier for people to sleep, so that's just what they call night in The Sanctuary. "Shouldn't that barrier be gone by now though? I think it should be around day time now." Lukas thought to himself. He went over to his table and grabbed the eye, hoping to find his new friend suddenly appearing right next to him... but she didn't appear. Lukas looked around everywhere to see if she was hiding somewhere to surprise him, if she even could do that, but Beth was no where to be found. "Beth? Where are you? This isn't funny!" Lukas yelled, hoping to get a response. With nothing else to do, Lukas opened his door only to find that it was completely black outside... it reminded him of the first being he saw when he first entered The Multiverse, that terrifying creature that looked an awful lot like Dream except it was covered in a black liquid with the only other visible thing being that glowing blue eye that just seemed to stare into his very soul.

The thought terrified Lukas and he slammed the door shut so he would no longer think of it. "Wow, so much anger and fear, no wonder a majority of my power seems to be coming from your emotions." A strange voice spoke from behind which startled Lukas. He turned around to find that very same creature that he remembered staring at him from the opposite corner of the room. "Wh-what are you?" Lukas asked in a panicked voice. "Really? You're really asking that? I thought that Dream would've told you by now. Although, now that I think about it, he really didn't tell me much about anything and thanks to that I became what I am now." The creature replied. "That doesn't answer my question! Who or what are you?" Lukas demanded the creature for an answer. "I am Nightmare, I believe that's what people call me anyway, I am Dream's brother and also his opposite, he gets power from positive emotions whilst I get mine from negative emotions and as the name implies, I can haunt your dreams and turn them against you." The creature explained. "Oh great, that would explain why Beth isn't appearing to me and also why nothing exists outside of this room." Lukas thought out loud.

"Beth? Is that your imaginary girlfriend or something? Well I'll tell you something, Lukas. In my world, people like Beth don't exist, there is no magic, none of those creatures like fairies exist in my realm, only me and whatever I wish to exist and when I target people like you, let's just say that if you keep annoying me the way you are now, you are going to have a bad time every time you close your eyes until you either give upon life or accept the fact that you are never going to be happy again and live on whilst constantly giving me all of the power that I could ever desire." Nightmare explained in a way that made Lukas think he must have been joking with how much of a cliché it seemed to be. "I'm annoying you? How? I haven't done anything wrong!" Lukas responded. "Exactly, that's what annoys me the most." Nightmare admitted with his voice growing louder. "What?" Lukas asked in confusion.

"That's the point!" Nightmare yelled as a tendril emerged from his back and wrapped around Lukas whilst lifting up into the air. "You need to go back to your waking self and make as many people feel anything negative as possible! If you do not, I will make it so that every moment that you spend unconscious will feel like hell! Do I make myself clear?" Nightmare demanded as he was getting visibly annoyed. "I... I don't want to... I won't!" Lukas tried his best to shout back as he was finding it hard to breathe. "I don't care if you don't want to! I will make you care enough about it to make you want to do it to make the agonising pain stop! Now I shall ask you again, do I make myself clear?" Nightmare asked again, this time yelling more than necessary.

Lukas struggled to even form words to respond before he heard a voice. "You don't need to listen to him Lukas. This is your mind, your soul. As long as you're determined enough, then you can take control of this world once again, you taught me that after all." The voice explained. Lukas looked around the room to try and find the source of the voice before he saw a faint purple light just outside his window. "It may seem impossible but you can get through this without hurting anyone innocent. You just need to learn how to persevere through this." The voice softly spoke. Lukas looked at the light before smiling. "I knew that you weren't gone, was my determination to survive strong enough to save you too?" Lukas asked the voice even though he already knew the answer. Soon after, the light vanished. "What did you say? You're mumbling, even I can't hear you!" Nightmare yelled at Lukas. "I'm sorry Nightmare, but I'm going to have to cut this conversation short." Lukas said whilst imitating Michael.

"No, no you are not. You don't decide when this conversation ends! It seems I need to teach you how this world works!" Nightmare shouted as he tried moving the tendril that was attached to Lukas... but it didn't move. "Wait, what?" Nightmare asked in confusion as the tendril seemed to just evaporate thus dropping Lukas to the floor. "What's wrong Nightmare, are you scared?" Lukas asked. "How... how are you doing this?" Nightmare demanded an answer. "It seems you have forgotten, this is my mind that you've invaded. My rules, my memory, my kingdom. Now it seems that I am going to have to teach you how this world works! Uninvited guests shall either be escorted out or exterminated, which one do you choose Nightmare?" Lukas inquired with a smug grin on his face. Nightmare just remained speechless and looked at Lukas with fear in his eye. "Well that's a shame, goodbye now." Lukas said as he held the eye out in front of him and it released brimstone flames that seemed to burn some of Nightmare's very essence away as he let out an unholy screech that didn't even remotely sound like the voice that Lukas heard Nightmare using before. Soon after, Nightmare put the flames out before screeching again and disappearing, taking the darkness with him.

Lukas woke up from his dream suddenly after he had dealt with Nightmare and the blinding brightness of The Multiverse outside seemed like a blessing compared to the nightmare dimension that he had been trapped in not more than two minutes ago. Naturally, Lukas' first instinct was to get the eye and tell Beth about what had happened. "What? Did you have a nightmare or something?" Beth questioned Lukas when picked up the eye, she seemed genuinely worried for him. "More than that, way more. Something entered my dreams and tried to make me do horrible things to people." Lukas replied as he was calming down from the fear. "Oh, you mean Nightmare? I'm going to have to admit that I was just waiting around at night, I looked towards you, then at the door and then I looked back at you and he was just standing over you. I don't think he knows about me since he didn't seem to notice that I was there but it felt awful knowing that he was doing that to you and all I could do is sit there and watch." Beth explained which actually made Lukas feel bad for making her worry about him. "Why have you just become so nice to me all of a sudden? It's like I just flipped a switch or something and then I'm suddenly your best friend." Lukas asked. "Oh, sorry about that, it just happens when I'm around people for long enough. You never actually did anything to me so I just became friendly all of a sudden. I mean, I could go back to being an egotistical jerk if you wanted me to but I don't see why you'd want that." Beth explained. Lukas paused for a second before continuing his original thought.

"I saw her, she helped me escape him, I'd probably be dead if it wasn't for her." Lukas explained. "Actually, Nightmare doesn't kill anyone from what I know, he just makes people as negative as possible to give himself as much power as possible." Beth replied to correct Lukas. "Well thank you, that makes me feel a lot better knowing that if she wasn't there then I wouldn't be granted a swift death but instead I would've been sapped of all of my positive feelings just to fuel some psychopath's power source." Lukas responded in a sarcastic voice. "Lukas, your eye, was it always purple?" Beth asked.

"What do you mean?" Lukas inquired as he got up to look in his mirror. Just like Beth had told him, Lukas' right eye had turned purple, Lukas then looked at his soul only to realise that a tenth of it had turned purple as well. "What? Is... is she a part of me?" Lukas asked himself. "Her soul was purple? Her trait was Perseverance? Here I was thinking that you would fall in love with someone with the same soul trait as you." Beth stated as she was more surprised at that than the fact that Lukas is now fused with someone else.

"Shouldn't you be more interested in what's happening with my soul than what traits we have?" Lukas asked. "No, I have seen the eye do more than that, fusing two souls together is one of the eye's basic abilities." Beth replied. "How do you know what abilities it has?" Lukas questioned Beth as every time she opened her mouth, she just left him with more questions. "Well that one's just obvious, it used to belong to me." Beth answered. Once again, Lukas was left more confused than before Beth answered him. "That's one of the main reasons why I attacked that city that you lived in, sure I was afraid of you because I knew that you would eventually have the power to kill me but I also lost the Eye of Extinction and I sensed its presence in that city, I decided to try and kill two birds with one stone and get back the eye and kill you afterwards." Beth continued explaining. "How were you still so powerful when you lost the eye then?" Lukas practically demanded an answer. "I made another one, I called it the Eye of Desolation, it wasn't as powerful as the Eye of Extinction so I decided to try and get my old eye back." Beth stated. "Also, I was the one that had the eye and I didn't even attempt to fuse our souls so why did that happen?" Lukas asked.

"Your emotions caused it to do that, the eye obeys the wishes of the one who holds it, all you wanted at that moment in time was for her to live so the eye granted your wish... just not in a way that could've been predicted." Beth explained. "Oh, but then again I hoped that Cole would come back when he went missing so why didn't he?" Lukas asked. "It can't bring people back to life Lukas, it may have brought him back to you but you couldn't see him because he wasn't... living anymore." Beth clarified. "So she's alive, why can't I hear or see her then?" Lukas asked. "I'll admit that even I don't have the answer to that question, but you said that you saw her in your dreams right? Then maybe you can only communicate with her when your only focus is on your mind... maybe." Beth guessed. "It's good to know that she isn't completely gone at least." Lukas admitted. "You know, you should be slightly more powerful at least. I mean, think about it, your powers are now fused with hers, it would only make sense for you to be stronger." Beth theorized.

Lukas just stood there and looked at his soul for a while, he was happy to find that he had something to look forward to instead of just listening to Core's orders, he had someone with him that definitely would not betray him. "Lukas, there is something I need to tell you, something important." Beth stated as an attempt to break the silence. "What is it?" Lukas asked. "I'm in trouble, there are people out there who are looking for me who are listening in on our conversations. I've already told you the name of one of them and they will destroy the eye and thus completely kill me if I tell you the name of any more of them." Beth replied as she looked around the room. "How do you know?" Lukas questioned as he was a bit surprised by this statement. "What about Draedon? Did you seriously think that he was here for no reason? He is here to make sure I don't say anything that he doesn't like, I will let you know that there are others here besides from Draedon but I cannot tell you who they are." Beth explained.

"So what do we do about them?" Lukas asked as he was a bit frightened now. "I'll tell you when they are nearby and when I tell you, it's going to be a subtle hint as to whether they are nearby or not and I advise you to act as natural as possible when I tell you because if they realise that you are acting odd... well, things won't go well for me." Beth spoke as she looked out of the window and at the people below her. "How many have you seen wandering around here?" Lukas asked. "I would tell you but that would just make you stop trusting anyone and we wouldn't want that." Beth explained.

"We agreed yesterday that we should think of a goal just to keep us heading towards something... so what should that be?" Lukas asked. "For now, I say that we should just explore The Multiverse and learn as much about it as we can but you won't survive out there until you learn how to utilise the eye, so that's my goal; to teach you how to use the Eye of Extinction." Beth replied. "How will we use it without people noticing though? We shouldn't let them know how much power we have, I've heard that people who they don't trust who have immense strength are often sealed away." Lukas explained. "Yes, that is quite a big problem." Beth admitted. "How about for now, we just explore The Sanctuary a bit more, we may be able to find a safe place to train." Lukas suggested. "Since when did you get so smart?" Beth inquired. "I learn from the best." Lukas replied as he got up to exit his room. As Lukas exited the room, he could see Beth looking around for Draedon and his companions. Lukas just started walking around in random places, searching constantly for an area where they can train.

"Hey... Lukas... that area behind you looks like a good spot to train." Beth suggested. "That's weird... I swear I looked over there... and there was nothing." Lukas thought to himself. Beth sighed... as if to say that what Lukas was thinking... wasn't related at all to what she wanted him to see. Then... Lukas remembered... Beth said that she would give a subtle hint if Draedon or his friends were nearby... Lukas tried to make the best fake smile he could as he turned around and started looking for anything unnatural. It was obvious what Beth wanted Lukas to see... a tall figure standing in the corner of the hall wearing a dark purple cloak... with two white glowing eyes that were shaped strangely.

Whatever it was, it was just staring at Lukas. Lukas looked around whilst pretending to ignore the strange figure. "I don't think so Beth... it's not a big enough area." Lukas spoke loud enough so that the strange figure could hear him. "That's not a very subtle way to hide your knowledge." Beth explained as Lukas turned around again. "I can't agree more." A voice said from right behind Lukas which made him jump. Lukas turned around to see the figure standing right beside him. "What? How did you do that?" Lukas asked the figure. "I think your friend here has the answers to all the questions that you may have." The strange creature replied whilst gesturing towards Beth. "So what if I do? I was going to tell him if you and your friends were fine with that... I actually have to fear for my life now because of you." Beth stated. "I'll admit that seeing The Great Calamity being reduced to the strength of that of a mortal amuses me so much... I used to fear you... and now I can crush you within my palm whenever I feel like it." It replied. "You talk so big Signus... when I get out of this orb, I'll make sure that the first thing I do is make you remember why you used to fear me... at least Draedon was smart enough to keep his mouth shut and keep his thoughts to himself." Beth retorted.

"You say that I talk big... but it seems that you don't understand the situation you are in... if I so wished it, you would never get out of that orb... but my master gave me specific orders to keep you alive for as long as possible unless if you say something that we would like to keep a secret. You're lucky... if it was up to me whether you lived or you died... well... we wouldn't be having this conversation right now... you would've been dead long before now." Signus explained. "Lukas... would you mind just saying my name... you know...Calamitas... just say it so I can come back to life and kill him quickly... I'll even spare this entire Multiverse from my rage." Beth asked as she was very clearly frustrated about what Signus was saying. "Can you tell me what's going on here first? I barely understood anything that you guys said!" Lukas replied. "Fine... just a quick summary... if he'll allow it." Beth replied. "I'll allow it... you can even tell him the names of the others... after all... what does a mere name do for a mortal?" Signus agreed. "Alright... this is Signus... he tried to assassinate an all powerful being who I'll just refer to as The Devourer of The Cosmos... he failed and now he works for it just so it doesn't kill him... long story short, he did something that I didn't like and now we hate each other... he is one of the people that were sent here along with Draedon, Catastrophe, Cataclysm and C-... one more person who I am not allowed to name." Beth clarified as she stopped herself from saying the final name. "Thank you... that helps me understand this much better." Lukas replied.

"Lukas...you need to go!" Signus suddenly shouted which scared Lukas. "What? Why?" Lukas asked. "My kin are watching... they are waiting Lukas... and they don't like you standing here doing nothing." Signus replied. "Wait... your kin? What do you mean by that?" Lukas questioned. When Lukas blinked, Signus had disappeared without answering his question. "I'll answer that question for you Lukas... I just can't tell you directly. I can guide you to where you can get that information however." Beth explained. "Right... I am guessing that you want me to go to the library?" Lukas assumed. "Indeed... how did you... you know what... never mind I shouldn't ask questions like that at a time like this... just get there." Beth confirmed that Lukas' guess was correct. Lukas started walking to the library but on the way... he thought of something. "Why is Beth asking me to go to the library? Weren't we looking for a place to train?" Lukas thought to himself. "Did you seriously already forget that I could read minds? You'll understand why I've asked you to do this when we get there." Beth said to reassure Lukas. Shortly afterwards, Lukas arrived at the library.

"So what are we looking for?" Lukas asked. "Go to the completed prophecies section and look for one called "A Matter Most Dark."" Beth replied. Lukas found the book and started to read. "A Matter Most Dark... also referred to as Dark Matter... is a highly destructive force that can destroy anything upon contact. Dark Matter surrounds every universe inside of The Multiverse presumably so that no mortal can exit their own universe. A universe can only be exited and entered through teleportation or the ability to phase through the Dark Matter. This book should be unimportant to most of those reading this... after all there is almost no reason for anyone to want to enter a universe... but recently, something has happened... something that we could not expect. A piece of Dark Matter broke away from the ring around a universe... and it destroyed everything within said universe... except it didn't accidentally fall out and destroy everything... no... it was done intentionally... what you are about to read has a high chance of scaring whomever the reader is... but it must be said... the Dark Matter itself is sentient... Dark Matter itself decided for a reason unknown that the universe didn't deserve to exist. We have been hard at work ever since this discovery... to try and find something that can destroy Dark Matter should an event like this ever happen again... and we have found a weapon that can destroy Dark Matter... it can destroy even more than that... it can destroy nothingness... zero... void... terminal. The name of this weapon is..." Lukas read in his mind. "Go on then...finish it." Beth insisted as she wasn't looking but instead listening. "I... I can't." Lukas replied. "What do you mean you can't? Just read what's written down." Beth demanded. "I... okay." Lukas agreed... his fear being heard from his voice alone.

"The name of this weapon is... you can't know anymore than that. Zero will be all... Zero will be all because Termina demands it... because Void demands it... let the Dark Matter spread. Let Zero spread. Let the blade of darkness cut through the light and unveil a world of my eternal suffering... why do you smile when I can't? Why do you laugh when I can't? Why do you live peacefully when I am suffering in silence? Why can't you feel my pain... just like I cannot feel your happiness? I will make you understand the law of Zero... the darkness that is my life... we are Zero... and soon you will be too." Lukas read in his mind.

"What? It doesn't say that! Let me see." Beth insisted. Lukas showed the open page to Beth... and sure enough... the exact words that Lukas had thought of... were written on the page... except for the fact that when the person writing the book was about to write the name of the weapon, the style of the writing changed from an author's handwriting... to that of a maniac who is just writing scribblings that have no real meaning... or that of a being who isn't used to writing. "It... it's fine right? This is a completed prophecy right? So everything should be fine." Lukas asked to try and reassure himself. "Lukas... I don't think that you understand... does the writing in that book depict a happy ending? Does it say that the Dark Matter has failed to destroy anything? No... it doesn't... and the prophecy is completed... that means that no matter how hard we try, we cannot avoid the outcome that is written in there... we will become Zero... or if you would prefer me to simplify that... we will become nothing... dead... everyone." Beth explained. "The pages are ripped out though... maybe... what was once written down here was removed to stop us from knowing what will really happen. Maybe we can still avoid destruction." Lukas suggested.

"Lukas... I think somebody is watching you." Beth said. Lukas looked over his shoulder... and he did see someone occasionally looking over at him... they looked strange... their body seemed to be a darker shade of black than darkness itself and it was wearing a white robe with two orange stripes down the front of it. It's legs...they looked disgusting... like it was just bone... and there weren't any feet... there was just a point at the end of the leg that it seemed to stand on. It's arms were mostly the same as the legs except for the fact that they had hands at the end... but they looked as if they didn't have any skin or muscle there at all... just bone. It's head was mostly covered by a silver mask... but what Lukas could see is that it only had one eye that seemed to just be a silver ring... it's hair was most bizarre though... it was long... but it seemed to be flowing despite there not being any wind. The strange creature noticed Lukas had spotted it... so it proceeded to slowly walk towards him.

When it had finally approached Lukas, it stood there for a moment... not saying anything... Lukas didn't even know if it could speak as he didn't see a mouth anywhere on it. "Can I help you?" Lukas asked. It continued to stare at Lukas... before it pulled it's cloak back slightly to reveal a sheath with a sword in it... it then slowly took the sword out which made Lukas panic quite a bit. "Excuse me... what are you doing?" Lukas questioned it as his face became a mixture of panic and confusion. He didn't get a response... it then pointed it's sword at the book in Lukas' hand...it then slowly pressed it's sword against the closed book... before cutting a small hole in it... to reveal that the book had another cover underneath the one that Lukas saw. "What... how did... how did you know about this?" Lukas insisted on getting his questions answered. The creature slowly sheathed it's sword before looking back at Lukas. "I... feel... the repercussions... of... their... actions." The creature replied in a slow croaky voice. "Wait... what do you mean by that?" Lukas asked as he was quite shocked that the creature could even speak.

"You... feel it too... don't you? The emotions are overwhelming... you can probably feel the emotions... emanating from me." The creature replied. Lukas didn't notice it until now... but he felt an overwhelming sense of dread... but he couldn't tell why. "You feel our suffering?" The creature asked. "Our... suffering? Who are you talking about? Beth... who is he?" Lukas whispered as he struggled to find an answer of his own. "I don't know! I've never seen anything like him before!" Beth answered as she too seemed to be scared. "Why do you sound so worried?" Lukas asked Beth in his mind. "I don't know! It's just... something about him is... I... I don't know!" Beth yelled back to hide her fear. "Calm down... it's normal." The creature spoke once again. "What? What's normal?" Lukas asked.

"Your emotions are normal... when you see something... like me." The creature explained. "What do you mean? Can you stop being so mysterious about everything and just give me a direct answer?" Lukas asked as he was suddenly frustrated. "Lukas...I think I've figured it out." Beth spoke quietly as she seemed to be feeling hopeless. "What? Figured what out?" Lukas asked. "These emotions are coming from that creature... that's why we are freaking out about everything...it's making us feel like this." Beth stated. "If I am... making you feel like that... then there is no point... for me to be here... I will be... leaving now." The creature answered before it slowly walked away. "Did you hear that thing speaking? It sounded as if it had barely learnt the language." Beth said as she was calming down from the creature being in her presence. "What... was that thing?" Lukas asked. "I don't know and I don't care... that was the most fear that I have ever felt in my life... I felt so hopeless... as long as we never see that thing again then I'll be fine." Beth replied. "Hey... shouldn't we check the actual cover on this book?" Lukas asked. "Yes... sure... fine." Beth replied. Lukas ripped the rest of the fake cover of the book off... and the actual cover just made the everything even more confusing... the cover was all white... except for a blood red eye in the centre... it seemed to stare straight through Lukas' very soul.

After a while, Lukas decided to leave the library as he wasn't learning anything more from being in there. "You know... there is one place that we could go to train that I am surprised that neither of us thought of." Beth explained. "Where would that be?" Lukas asked. "The Training Grounds! I mean... seriously it's got the word in the name and everything!" Beth replied. "Why didn't we think of that before?" Lukas asked rhetorically. "Well to be honest, I was more worried about the assassins than I was about where we were going." Beth answered. "Well... let's head over there then." Lukas agreed as he started looking for any signs or maps. "We're... already at The Training Grounds you know." Beth replied. "No we're not... we're stood in a hallway... just outside of the library." Lukas stated as he looked back at the library. "Well... we're close enough... just find some stairs that go down and you'll be there." Beth said.

"I'm worried though... that strange guy... how did he know about that book? Didn't you also say that you would explain what Signus meant when he was referring to his kin?" Lukas asked whilst walking down some nearby steps. "Oh... right... well that thing that Signus was talking about is the main reason behind why I hate him so much. You see... Signus... is a part of the Dark Matter. I didn't know this at first... and he didn't really seem to like me all too much... so I asked him about it... and he almost immediately asked me to stop talking... and then he said... "A mortal being like you does not need to know about my one eyed kin... but I'll tell you anyways as your thoughts about me are annoying me to my very core. My family are composed entirely of darkness... and most of them have one eye but I am an exception to that... me and my family know the true meaning of immortality whilst beings like you have a false idea as to what immortality really is... we are the true perfect gods despite what all the stories about Xeroc or Noxus say. The true meaning of immortality is to live an eternity of nothing but struggles and stress to accompany you... you all have a life where you are considered immortal but in reality, you are no where near comprehending the true suffering of an immortal being like Zero. Now... stop bothering me about it... do not think about what I have told you... only think about what you are going to do from now on. "That was the first time I had ever actually seen him show any emotion... but now that I know that he is Dark Matter... it makes sense as to why he didn't show that much emotion." Beth explained.

"Well...here we are... thankfully nobody seems to be here." Lukas said as he stopped in front of a huge open area with seats lining the walls. "Huh... this is interesting... it looks like a colosseum more than anything. Oh well... this will do." Beth replied as she looked around. "So now you said that you were going to teach me how to use your powers right?" Lukas asked as he was quite excited for gaining even a fraction of the power of a god. "Oh right... well... I just have to make sure that you're prepared for this." Beth explained as she seemed afraid of something. "What's wrong Beth? Are you having doubts about me?" Lukas inquired. "N-no... it's not that... it's just that... I'm not sure if it is a good idea for me to teach a literal child about how they can start playing god." Beth clarified. "So you are having doubts about me... why am I not surprised?" Lukas asked rhetorically. Suddenly, Lukas heard a voice that sounded a lot like Beth. "Should I really continue with this?" The voice seemed to ask itself. "Excuse me?" Lukas asked as he didn't quite understand what he had heard. "What? Did you... oh." Beth was saying but she stopped herself and looked at the Eye of Extinction... Lukas looked at the eye as well... it was glowing which indicated that it had just used some of its power. "So youre motions do cause it to react without you intentionally doing it. Just so you know what just happened... you just read my mind because the eye had detected your fear... so... you're afraid that I won't teach you how to use the eye's powers... right?" Beth questioned Lukas. "I... um...yes." Lukas simply responded as he just wanted to comprehend everything that Beth had just told him.

"Well... now that I know that... well... it just makes me want to teach you how. I've always been one for trying to exceed everyone's expectations... in fact, that's part of the reason why I became so strong." Beth explained. "Wait... so you are going to teach me after all that... just because I thought that you wouldn't teach me?" Lukas asked as Beth's way of thinking was confusing him. "Look... do you want me to teach you how or not?" Beth asked as she was getting a bit tired of the conversation not going anywhere. "Well of course I do!" Lukas replied enthusiastically. "Fine... the first thing you have to do... tell me what happened to you before I first found you... when your universe was still intact." Beth requested. "What? Why do I have to do that?" Lukas asked as what Beth was telling him to do didn't seem at all related to gaining new powers. "Just trust me okay? It will help I promise." Beth insisted. "Fine... I'll try." Lukas said as he tried to look back on the memories that he had tried so hard to forget.

"Oh great... here we go again." "Would you just shut it with your whining? Sure it may be boring but we have listened to this millions of times over... you should be over it by now." "I don't care... can't we just get to the action already? I want to test his strength already!" "You'd kill him instantly! That wouldn't be fun now would it?" "I don't care! The moment that kid dies is the moment that this all ends and I get to meet new challengers!" "Be quiet! If he hears us then the plan will fail! Besides... you know that the Tyrant King has to be the one to kill him!" "Ugh... fine... wake me up when the story is over." "Fine... I just don't want to hear any more of your words before we have to step in Clysm. Lukas... may your determination allow you to persevere through the most difficult of challenges."
