Zad and Thane faced each other from a distance along with Elias and Fern, Zad and Elias stood apart looking in different directions; they were both expressionless. Thane felt that something must've occurred while they were talking but decided not to intrude before the battle.
Thane thought to himself, "I hope things went ok between those two..."
Thane pulled out his bow and aimed an arrow up to the sky.
"Just so we can be fair, once this arrow lands, the duel begins. Is that alright with you, Elias?"
Elias clutched the sword on his waist tilting his body forward, waiting for the arrow, while saying "Do what you please, I'll beat you either way."
Thane laughed off that remark from Elias and said, "Hahaha, we'll see about that."
Thane shot the arrow and drew another while waiting for the battle to begin. Zad knew that Elias was going to rush in headfirst with no plan and had to think of a way to support him, one wrong move could turn Elias against him.
"Telling Elias not to go in alone probably won't work; that means I'll have to work around that and support him from behind. I already expended a lot of my mana earlier while training so I won't have many chances, every shot counts."
Zad clenched his fist and decided to try as hard as he could in this battle since it could prove to be good practice. After twenty long seconds, they saw the arrow landing at a fast speed. Everyone was raring to go, and then, it landed.
Elias ran forward, holding onto the hilt of his sword which was still in its scabbard. That's when Thane shouted, "Now, Fern!"
Fern pointed her staff towards Thane applying a green aura around him, Elias didn't care and continued to run forward. Zad said to himself, "That's haste magic, there's no way Elias will be able to outspeed him like this."
Zad pulled out his sword and started running behind Elias to back him up. While Elias continued to run towards Thane's direction, Thane caught up in no time using the extra speed from the haste magic. He clashed his bow with Elias's sword, not allowing him to draw it.
"You know what the problem with you is Elias? You're just too predictable."
Elias had nothing to say trying to force his sword out of its scabbard he was at a standstill. Until, from above, Zad appeared with his hand out channelling a fireball saying, "How's this for predictable Thane!"
Thane smiled and said, "Impressive."
Zad shot the fireball directly at Thane, but his reactions were too quick. Thane kicked Elias out of the way, knocking him down, Thane spun around, drew his arrow, and crouched whilst aiming at the fireball.
"Let me show you a little trick."
He applied water magic to his attack and shot the arrow and what came out amazed Zad. It looked like a dragon made out of water, devouring a fireball.
"What was that!" Zad exclaimed.
Thane rubbed his finger under his nose as if he was trying to show off and replied saying, "It was a little technique someone taught me a long time ago, I still have yet to master it, but it looks cool doesn't it."
"Of course, it does!"
"Although, it also means that we're complete opposites since my water magic can handle your fire with ease."
Elias pulled himself up from the ground, frustrated, staring back at Zad, saying, "I didn't ask for your help, don't think this means I owe you anything."
"I just did what I felt was right, as your ally. I don't expect anything back, but I also won't treat you as an enemy because I have nothing against you."
"Whatever, do what you will."
Thane pulled out another arrow saying, "How about we finish this."
Elias made sure to draw his sword beforehand and charged at Thane once again. Zad waited for an opportunity to enter the battle.
"I doubt me and Elias would be able to take on Thane as we are right now. What I need to do is deal with that support in the back first."
Zad changed directions, heading over to Fern shooting a fireball in her direction, she moved out the way dodging the attack, cancelling the active haste spell. Thane felt the effect wearing off and looked into that direction seeing Zad nearing Fern.
Elias shouted, "Don't you dare take your eyes off of me!"
He swung his sword at Thane, only to be blocked by his sturdy bow.
"What's wrong? Can't fight without those cheap tricks of yours?!"
"We've known each other for so long Elias, yet you always think you can beat me, this is a team battle, the only reason I used the haste spell was to take on both of you at once. If you want to take me on alone, then my current speed and power should suffice."
Zad slashed his sword at Fern, she fell back, tripping herself up. She let go of the staff and put her hands up in the air exclaiming, "Ok, I give up please don't kill me!
"I'm not going to kill you..."
He then looked over in Elias's direction seeing him lying on the ground with Thane above pointing an arrow in his face. Thane chuckled and said, "Looks like we both got one, how about we call this a draw?"
Zad exhausted from the training and fighting exhaled, "I think that'd be the best option for me."
