Thane sat by the fire facing Zad with a straight face, he said, "It's been quite a long time since this event happened, still I can't seem to forget about it, every single detail sticks with me as much as I try to forget... I just can't. It was ten years ago, that was the day everything went wrong."
[Thane's village: Ten years ago.]
In what looked to be a wooded area near the village. A young Elias charged at Thane with a wooden sword saying, "This time I'll win for sure!"
Thane replied, "As if, your movements are just way too predictable!"
Elias thrust his sword towards Thane's chest, without any problems Thane moved to the side, dodging the blow sticking his foot out tripping Elias up. Fern watched the two from a distance laughing at the outcome with Elias's face inside the dirt.
Thane placed his arms on his hips, standing in an upright position, he started to laugh "How many wins is that now, Fern!"
Fern trying not to laugh said, "I think that makes it about 26-0."
"As expected, I'm just the best, aren't I!"
Elias raised his head out of the dirt and said, "That's not fair I wasn't ready."
"You weren't ready for the last 24 attempts either were you..."
"Exactly!"
"I wasn't serious; I was mocking you..."
Someone walked towards the three friends from behind. He had a large physique, with multiple scars on his face, he picked up Thane from behind by his collar saying, "If you want a fair opponent then what about me?"
Thane recognised this voice it was a hunter from the village, who happened to be friends with the three kids, Thane said, "No thanks, I'd rather not lose against you, Ryner."
Ryner smiled, letting Thane go and dropping him. "You shouldn't bully Elias so much and gloat about it."
Thane shrugged saying, "We try not to, but then he thinks he can beat me, so I have to teach him it's not good to lie!"
Ryner shook his head and said, "I guess you three will never change, by any chance, are you busy today? I was guessing maybe you three could come along with me while I go hunting."
"Wait, are you serious?!"
"Of course, you'll need to ask your parents for permission first."
Elias said, "I see, that those sound very intriguing, I'll be able to practice my swordsmanship against, wild beasts."
Ryner replied saying, "There's no way we're going to be hunting those things, even I would have trouble against them..."
Fern nodded saying, "Is it ok if I come along too, sir!"
Ryner smiled patting her head saying, "It won't be a problem if you come along too, I'm honestly more worried about those two, I'll let you go ask your parents meet me at the front of the village, once you're ready to go and I'll be waiting!"
Thane ran home in excitement since he didn't get much of a chance to go hunting with Ryner. He was a man respected by the entire village and kept it safe from any creatures and enemies. He opened the door only to see his sister, who was a year younger than him angry.
"That's not fair you went to go have fun with your friends without me again!"
"Sorry, Sorry, I can't always have you with me, but next time I'll be sure to bring you along!"
"Is that a promise?"
"It is, now where's mother?"
Thane's sister sat back down, pointing towards the kitchen. Thane took a deep breath before walking in. He said, "There's something I want to ask you, mother!"
She looked at the door and said, "What have you done now, Thane."
"Nothing! I just wanted to ask you if I could do hunting with Ryner, Elias and Fern, I'll be good and not get in his way, I think it'll be a good learning experience for us!"
"It's fine you don't have to sell it to me so much, as long as you can guarantee me you won't leave Ryner's sight, you can go."
Without a second to waste, Thane said, "I won't."
"Try to be back as soon as possible."
Thane, Elias and Fern ended up running into each other on the street. Thane said, "Did you two get permission?"
Fern nodded saying, "Yep!"
Elias crossed his arms and casually said, "It was a simple task. If I wouldn't be able to that much, I'd be a disgrace."
The three walked at a slightly fast speed towards the designated location and tried to get there as fast as they could, they saw Ryner in the distance. He looked over at them and saw Thane giving him a thumbs up. He knew what this meant and got ready to set off.
