Chapter 20 - 20 Home is where the heart is

"What do you mean by 'What happened' Lea?"

The woman asked her.

"It has been years since we last met. How could you be so cold and appear to me like this?!"

Lea said and shrieked at the top of her lungs at the sight of her friend. She puts her arms around her and hugged her tightly. Lea suddenly remembered something about her friend.

"Fancy seeing you here. How was your day with..." Lea smirked when a cupped hand covered her mouth.

"You will wake up the neighbors. Calm yourself." Her friend whispered to her.

Lea stood quietly and her friend looked from left to right, scanning the surroundings.

Her friend sighed with relief.

"I want to tell you something about your best friend." Her friend looked at her seriously.

"What about her?" Lea was confused. She squinted her eyes and looked at her friend curiously.

"We have to take that inside and talk about it." Her friend suggested.

They were walking towards her apartment door when Lea noticed something missing on her hand.

"I know it was in my pocket a minute ago..." She muttered under her breath. She frantically looked for it and she felt her heart pounding.

"I lost my key." Lea sighed nervously as she searched her body and looked around.

"Is this your key?" Her friend asked her with a smirk.

"You sneaky friend. Old ways die hard I see." Lea teased her friend.

"Yeah and that I left it in the past. I just want to trick you." Her friend started laughing crazily.

"Jasmine..."

"What?"

Lea looked at Jasmine and stared at her hand where the key is.

"Oh..."

They both laughed.

She handed Lea the key. As Lea puts the key on the keyhole to open the door, Jasmine breathed a sigh of relief.

Lea looked at Jasmine as she puts her key on a table near the door.

"Do you want to make breakfast with me?" Lea asked her.

"Of course, I would love to." Jasmine replied.

Lea leads Jasmine into the kitchen. She went to the refrigerator and took some eggs and bacon. She also took a roll of bread in the pantry. As she carefully prepares the ingredients, an idea popped her head.

"Do you want hot or cold milk, coffee or tea?" Lea asked her.

Jasmine looks at her and thinks. She smiles back at her.

"Well, I have something in mind. I'll surprise you when it's done. Leave the beverage to me." She pats Lea on her shoulders.

"Ok." Lea replied.

As Lea cooked some eggs and bacon, she made french bread too.

"It's better to have more options than to have a few things on a plate." She said to herself.

"Mmmm...That looks delicious." Jasmine looks at what Lea is doing and continues with the beverages.

"Well, your beverage smells good too." Lea compliments.

As the two friends prepared breakfast, a knock was heard.

"Who could that be?" Lea turned off the stove and left the kitchen to see who is behind the door.

Jasmine felt her heart tremble and she felt something that make her nervous. She felt jitters that make her fear something and that made her think something is not good.

At the parking lot...

The man and a woman are now in a staring contest when one of them said...

"Let's just go."

Alex suddenly surrenders and Alexander has an amused look on his face.

"Suddenly, the very beautiful woman surrendered to my beauty. I am such a handsome fellow." Alexander boasted and jokingly laughed at her.

"You...are...so..." Alex furiously said when Alexander cuts her.

"Great...Thanks!!" Alexander's flattered tone was heard.

"IRRITATING!! How could you say your great when..." Alex's tone was sarcastic when Alexander cuts her again.

"We did not sleep together?" His voice jokingly provoking her.

"How shameless!!" She was now furious and she instinctively hit him on his groin.

Alexander winced in pain.

"You had it coming and you deserved it boy!" She thought while glaring at Alexander. She took 2 steps back and stared at him.

Alexander looked at her with amusement in his eyes.

"You want more?" Alex raised her voice.

He stood up and fixed himself. He looked at her in the eye. She felt his eyes are looking at her, piercing through her. His pleading eyes turned into great pools of water, so deep that she was drawn into him. She felt herself drowning. They stared for a good 5 seconds when they heard someone coming.

Tom and Andrea were leaving the restaurant when they both saw Alex and Alexander in the parking area. Tom knew her wife really well and they looked at each other's eyes.

"I will take the car and you can go to your son. I will drive the car to you..." Tom kissed her forehead.

"Of course, you are such a wonderful husband. I hope your son has the same luck as you..."

"He is my son afterall and he has my luck." Tom felt proud. His smile beamed like rays of the sun.

She pats him on his shoulder and said, "You better get going or we can't leave until you find the car." She jokingly said.

Tom looked at her eyes with warmth. They locked gazes and kissed.

"See you later, my love." Tom finally said. He left Andrea while she went to approach the couple.

Andrea beamed when she saw Alex and Alexander in the parking lot. She wanted to see them of and went to them unhurried. Her steps were fast approaching when she noticed the 2 are in a staring contest. She felt amused and her heart leaped for her son. It was one of the best feelings she had ever have.

"I always hoped that in the future you would find someone for you, Alexander. You make me proud." She murmured to herself.

She made her way to them and called their attention.

"I did not expect you to be here. I really thought you guys left." Andrea casually said.

The couple looked at her and smiled.

"We haven't left yet and I wanted to see the view more. It is so lovely here." Alex lied. She really wanted to go home right away.

There was an amused face looking at her at the moment. Alexander suddenly went to her back, his arms held her waist and whispered in her ear.

"I really like your face just now. I am loving the way you look right now." Alexander's breath reached her ears. She felt tingles and her heart was beating erraticly. She suddenly blushed and pinched him on his side.

Alexander hid his pain and whined through his eyes. He stayed close to her and did not let her go. Her hands tried to pry them open but to no avail.

Andrea saw this and laughed her heart out.

"You really are a great together. I hope you give him a chance, Alex." Andrea smiled.

"Uhm..." Alex mumbled. She did not know what to say. At that moment, Alexander slowly took his arms and let her free. Her mother gave him a knowing look. He understood it right away so he then fixed his motorcycle and prepared the ride for the both of them. Andrea took Alex away just a meter apart from Alexander. She nodded to her son that it wont take them long to converse.

"Alex, I thought you have left already. I was about to give you this for your family. Thank you for accompanying us today. I enjoyed every moment and I really missed you." Andrea chirped in. She saw the couple being sweet in front of her.

"Aw, you look cute together. You two would make a good couple. I can see a great family coming. I can't wait for that to happen..." Andrea excitedly said.

Alex blushed. Her heart was in chaos right now. She did not really understand her feelings right now.

Alexander approached them and heard jis mother's word.

"Thank you. I was hoping she would be my girlfriend soon." Alexander happily said. "And I can't wait to call her mine." He whispered in her ear again but his tone was husky and low.

He was already beside Alex that made her startled.

Andrea looked at them warmly. She was lucky to see this from her son. She really thought that her son was different because he did not pay more attention about women before. He did not show any signs of interest on the opposite sex not until today. She was glad that her son fancies one woman and it turned out it was closer than they originally thought.

"Ahh, this guy...he's crazy." She screamed in her head. She was fuming with anger but she did not let anyone see her emotions. She calmed herself and she repeated the word, "Heart please calm down..." Her voice echoed in her head. She took a deep breath and sighed.

"Are you alright, Alex? Was there something I said?" Andrea worriedly asked. She noticed Alex's gestures and thought she offended her somehow.

"Oh no, Aunt, maybe I was just tired. That's all."

"Hmm, maybe I was just too fast to assume things." Andrea sadly said.

"Oh no Aunt, it isn't that. Maybe I'll give Alexander a chance." Alex blurted out.

Out of the blue, a pair of eyes sparkled as if he just won the lottery.

Andrea looked at his son with her happy and content eyes. Alexander looked at her with his face lit with excitement.

Alex suddenly realized what she said.

"Oh gosh, what the hell did i just say? Oh dear..." She wondered off as her mind went blank.

Andrea pats her shoulder when Tom came with the car in front of them. He pressed the horn that woke Alex from her senses.

"I will be going now." Andrea said.

She handed the packed food to Alex and gave them both a casual smile. She opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat next to the driver. She looked at them with warmth in her eyes telling them she accepts their relationship and blesses them her regards.

"See you two soon. We will be going now. Bye!" She looked at Alex who returned a smile and Alexander who mouthed the words "Thank you" at his mother.

"Take care of Alex, Alexander. Be careful on the road." Tom added.

"Yes I will, father..." Alexander responded.

"Father...He called him father." Alex thought. "But maybe they got acquainted and had his sister marry in the family. Maybe..." Alex thought. Her mind is really messing with her today. She looked at the departing vehicle in front of them. She stretched her hand in the air as she waved goodbye at them.

"Goodbye Aunt! Goodbye Uncle!" Alex waved at them. Her voice sounded strange and breathy. Her eyes did not leave the vehicle as it disappears on their sights.

As she took her hand down, she took a deep breath and sighed. Her mind is confused and uncertain of the facts she is facing right now.

If there is a chance to save her, she would really whack her brain now.
