Chapter 25 - 25 Stitches and Burns

Outside Lea's Apartment...

Lea and James stared at the person looking right through them.

They both let go of each other.

Lea turned around blushing. She was very ashamed.

James straightened his body, his left hand on his pocket and another hand brushing his nape.

Everybody felt silently awkward until James chuckled loudly.

Lea started laughing.

They both looked at each other affectionately and stared at the person looking at them.

Jasmine was stunned. She did not expect Lea and James to be together.

She squealed.

They both knew her high pitch voice anywhere.

"OH...MY...GOSH...!!!"

She blurted out. Her voice was cold. She was dumbfounded.

"Ohhhhh....myyyyyy....goshhhh!!!

There was a long pause. An awkward silence filling the air.

She shrieked. Her eyes were wide open. She covered her mouth from shock.

"Why haven't I suspected anything before?" Jasmine asked herself. She was jittery from what she witnessed and calmed herself down.

"I did not expect that coming. I knew it will be coming soon but now..." She pointed at them. She smiled and excitedly exclaimed.

"This is the best time!" She added and walked towards them. She hugged them both and a tear fell from her eye, a sign she supports Lea and James.

She was genuinely happy for them.

She wiped her tear and sighed.

"I hope I can find someone, too." She hoped, longing for that one person to love her.

Suddenly her eyes turned sad.

"I wished he could see me but he had eyes for someone else." Jasmine felt like crying but controlled herself.

Lea and James felt sad for her.

James hugged her.

Lea walked towards her and embraced her too.

"Hey, don't worry. Whoever that guy is..." Lea comforted her.

"Blind..." Jasmine smiled amd chuckled. She looked away remembering that time she met him on a cafe when she was young.

"Yeah. My sister deserves someone else. If he can't see you, then he does not deserve you. There are many fishes in the sea, Jasmine. You just have to have the right bait and the right guy will catch it. Believe me."

He stared at Lea.

"She got me and I am blessed to have her."

His eyes full of warmth making Lea's eyes flutter.

Jasmine stopped day dreaming and her eyes stared at the floor for a minute and sighed.

"Bro, enough with that cheesy thing. You are making it worse. I don't have anyone to share THAT with and you are showing off."

She glared at his brother but James can't take his eyes off Lea.

Jasmine looked towards them and felt disgusted when she saw his brother's face smiling like an idiot at her and Lea looking concerned for her.

Lea knew her friend and pinched James on his cheeks.

"Don't bully your sister. She will find someone for her."

She turned at Jasmine and added, "He might be someone you met before but never had eyes for him or maybe a next door neighbor."

She winked at her.

Jasmine's eyes lit up. A flicker of hope shone on her eyes.

"You never know..." Lea added and sweetly sighed staring at James.

Jasmine felt warm when she heard Lea.

"Yeah, just the right bait." Jasmine thought.

Lea suddenly asked her. "Why are you here in the Cafe?"

"Oh, I just finished classes and I am here chilling." Jasmine held her cup of Caffé Vanilla Frappuccino. She held her phone and snapped herself a selfie.

She posted it in instagram.

She started browsing and an idea struck her head. She looked around and caught her apple of the eye not far from her. She snapped and stole a snap of his picture.

His picture was caught against the light only seeing some of his features making the picture mysterious. He was browsing on his phone and his half body silouette making in the picture.

She captioned it #appleofmyeye.

"I couldn't believe this." Lea chuckled. She showed her Jasmine's instagram post.

"How on earth did you capture this? This is invasion of privacy." Her tone changed from friendly to serious.

"Well, he caught my attention and he is sooo damn hot." Jasmine fanned out herself making her point at Lea.

Out of the corner, this guy knew his picture was taken when he saw her post. There was no doubt that he was updated with social media too but his eyes was searching for someone in the Cafe that made his heart flutter. He was anxious to catch a glimpse of her.

The Cafe had a song playing. The beat was relaxing until a voice sang. It was Halsey's Without You.

"Found you when your heart was broke..."

His eyes scanned the whole cafe for her frame.

"I filled your cup until it overflowed..."

He spots her near the counter choosing at the menu in front of her.

"Took it so far to keep you close (keep you close)..."

His eyes lingered on her frame.

"I was afraid to leave you on your own..."

The baristas were busy preparing other customer's orders when they noticed her staring blankly at the menu. Her eyes were helpless and undecided.

"I said I'd catch you if you fall

And if they laugh, then f*** 'em all (all)..."

He thought he could help her. He bravely approached her, pretending to order as well and his eyes fixed on her.

"And then I got you off your knees..."

"She's so cute." He thought.

"Put you right back on your feet..."

His eyes started lingering on her face when he realized some onlookers looking at them.

He gulped and hummed with the song.

She was startled when she noticed a boy who was tall near her.

"Oh! I did not see you there. You startled me." She calmly said.

He turned to her and they accidentally locked gazes.

He was enthralled by her beauty and she was struck by how handsome he is.

The barista noticed the 2 customers and asked them what they are going to order.

Both of them were brought to reality.

The barista smiled at them with a knowing look.

"Oh, uhm, I am still choosing, sorry." Alex excused herself.

"Same..." The boy smiled at her not taking his eyes off her.

This made Alex conscious. She looked away and focused on the menu before her.

"You should try our Strawberries N Cream Frappe. It is one our best sellers." The barista suggested.

Her eyes turned at the barista and nodded absent-mindedly.

He looked straight at the barista and casually said, "May I have the same, too?"

His voice was gentle but firm.

Hearing him made her stare at him. His face full of determination and conviction.

His lips turned up in a smile, charming on lookers. His face lighting up the whole Cafe.

She was at awe.

The barista looked at them curiously but brushed that apart. He punched their order as one transaction.

Alex realized that the transaction was punched as one transaction. She was about to pay when the boy handed the barista his credit card. She was stunned.

The barista took the card. When he noticed what the card was, he was shocked. He did not utter another word and smiled back at the boy.

"Thank you, sir."

The barista was very courteous and headed to do the frappes.

Alex cant seem to understand the situation in front of her. She felt guilty and embarrassed.

She looked at the boy beside her. Her mind was telling her to pay the boy and she will be on her way.

Luckily she has some spare cash in her and was ready to hand him.

She was worried on how to approach him. She took a deep breath and rehearsed on what to say to him.

"Thank you for paying my order and this is me paying you for it."

Those words replaying in her mind.

"How hard can that be?" She asked herself confidently. She took out her wallet and searched for the cash. She turned to him when the barista came back with their order.

He had 2 frappes with him.

He was searching for his customers until he spotted them and handed them the frappes.

She looked at the barista that served them when an arm stretched in front of her.

He called for a name.

"Alex..."

They both looked at him.

The barista was confused when 2 of them are looking at him.

Alex took one cup of frappe. She turned at the boy and handed him the cash she prepared for him.

"Thank you." She left and smiled at the barista.

She turned and smiled sweetly at the boy.

The boy was stunned by Alex's actions.

"Well, sir, here is yours. Have a great day." The barista smiled and handed him his order.

The boy went back to his senses and smiled.

He had never encountered a girl like that before. A grin plastered in his face.

Jasmine saw everything from afar and her heart sank.

Her reverie ended with a pang of ache in her heart. Sadness forming in her eyes. She must know about him no matter what happens.

There was a reason why she stood close with Lea.
