Chapter 14 - 14 What A Bad Dream

He looked at the screen. He wanted her to feel his love, his affections and his security. He just stared at the innocent face on his phone's screen. Her eyes looking peaceful, her nose is sharp as well and her lips that is attractive and sexy. He wanted to be on her side always. He vowed that he will do everything for her. His eyes started to be droopy. His thoughts lingered until he fell asleep. His thoughts were about her, ALL about her.

Alex was sleeping soundly when her dream went downhill. In her dream, she was in a field, a dog on her side following her and guarding her in their path. Mountain ridges and a sea so blue and serene. The beauty before her was breathtaking. The sun was shining bright and warm. She followed where the path ended and sees a grassland full flowers. The scenery is beautiful. She trailed in it despite the tall grass. She was not sure on where she was going but her heart says that she has to keep it straight. All of a sudden, she tripped. She felt her knee scraped, letting a small blood come out. She can feel pain on her knee. She brushed the dirt off from her and she stood up when the scenery changed from rich and beautiful to scarce and barren. She looked around and the door was not there anymore. She studied every inch of the picture before her. Her heart sank. She felt lost in her dream.

She suddenly said, "Hello?"

No one answered. She felt lonely. Sadness engulfed her. She can hear her heart beat faster this time as she started walking with no direction in her mind.

"Where will I go? What do I have to do?"

She is still confused why she was there until she found a cabin. A glint of hope flashed in her heart.

She hurriedly ran to the door and asked herself, "Is there anyone home?"

Her voice sounded loud enough to make a normal person turn their heads at her but no one was there. She knocked on the door and no one answered. There was conflict in her mind whether she will try opening the door or wait until someone opens. Before she made a decision, the door suddenly opened. She was startled and stared at the space she is now looking at but no one popped up to greet her. She wanted to make sure what she is going in for so she decided to sneak a peak on the window. She just saw a couch in there and darkness all around. She felt scared but she bravely shook all her fears aside and went inside the cabin. Her footsteps made creaking sounds on the wooden floor and was afraid of what could happen if there was a person living in there.

Her heart started beating faster. It was so loud that she thinks her heart will come out of her mouth. Just then the door suddenly closed. She was surprised and she almost screamed but kept her composure. She does not want to know she was in the cabin because she might startle someone.

She turned around and studied how the door just closed.

"It could be just the wind." She muttered.

She felt coldness in the air when a chill suddenly went down her spine. Her hair raised in the air like there was something lurking in the shadows. She wanted to scream but couldn't. She searched the room for any signs of another being with her when she heard a loud thud behind her.

Thump!

She saw something fall. Out of curiosity, she went to the thing that made a thud. She was so nervous because she sees a body on the floor. She drew herself close and it was just a mannequin. All of a sudden, the mannequin grabbed her arm. The pull was abrupt, it made her stagger on the floor. She was still in a daze but she was scared because a mannequin grabbed her. IT grabbed her. She staggered back and found her footing when the mannequin stood tall. There was fear in her eyes. Her arm extended searching for something that she can defend herself and her fingers sensed something. She took it in her hand and placed it in front of her as a shield. She just noticed it was a pan.

"How can this protect me?" She thought for herself.

The mannequin who was facing down suddenly looked up at her. She saw its face. She was shocked at who it was.

"How can this be?" She screamed.

Then that mannequin lounged at her.

She sat up from the dream and that woke her up. She was drenched in sweat with a puzzled look on her face. She calmed herself. She went out of bed, fetched a glass of water and drank its contents. Her thoughts about the face of that mannequin lingered on her mind. She knew this face was very familiar.

"How is it possible that I can't remember?" She whispered.

She clearly has cared for this person but she could not remember any memory of that person.

She sighed.

She noticed the mirror and her reflection registered on it. She can't deny her intuition about this person now that she had seen it through her dream. She feels scared thinking about it.

After taking another glass of water, she felt sleepy and saw Alexander's figure on the couch. He was sleeping soundly. She walked quietly and settled peacefully in bed. She laid down and let her grogginess take over her.

After some time passed, a phone alarm was ringing in the room.

Diiing!! Diiing! Diiing!

Alex woke up at the sound of her phone. It's 6 am and she must start her routine. She yawned quietly and glanced at the couch.

"I hope I did not wake him up." She said.

She looked closely at the couch and realized something.

He's gone.

"Where could he be?" She asked herself.

She observed her surroundings.

"Maybe he jogs in the morning. I met him jogging before but in the wrong time though." She contemplated.

She did not want to think anymore and decided to start jogging in the morning. She wanted to feel the sea breeze while running. She loves the sea that she dreams of living near one. Imagining herself reading a book, seated in her patio overlooking the deep blue sea and the sand and palm trees just beside her. She can already feel her feet touching the sand. It was invigorating and peaceful. She was daydreaming the best experience.

She stood up. She wanted to feel it now. She left a note for Alexander when he will reach the room later. She fixed her hair in the mirror and gargled in the washroom. She took a shower to freshen up. She changed into her clothes and went out for a walk. She was in the hallway heading to the beach when she saw 2 figures up ahead her. They were seated in a table in the restaurant overlooking the beach. She knows that person anywhere.

"Charles and Monique." She whispered. She knew it was all over now.

"He loves Monique and I accept that. I respect their marriage and as their friend, I will not be in their way. I am happy for them."

She mustered her courage to say that to herself. A bitter reminder that she must learn to accept. It is a close chapter after all.

Three steps forward, she saw Monique look her way. She touched him from his hair to his shoulders seductively pretending that Alex was not even there. She flashed her engagement ring and wedding ring at her.

This made Alex look at her indifferently. She thought for herself, "What have I done to her to act this way towards me? Charles loves her now. I accepted that but why does she act like that? It makes no sense."

She smirked.

"Ah right. I know why."

A hint of hate flash in her eyes. She went the other way. She went for the beach and walked near the shore. She forgot about what just happened minutes ago. She felt peaceful again. As the water rush to her feet, someone called out to her.

"Alex!"

She turned around and saw Andrea waving at her. She was running at her when she went to meet her up.

"Would you like to join us for breakfast?" Andrea, Charles mother, asked her.

She thought, "This is not happening. I don't want to see her, not since this morning."
