Chapter 10 - Episode 10: When the Mafia Boss Stopped Running

The world around Meera Verma felt unreal.

People were still whispering, but she couldn't hear them properly anymore. Her eyes were locked on one person.

Kabir Rajvansh.

The man she thought she understood… but never truly did.

"You're saying… I'm in danger because of you?" Meera asked again, her voice softer this time.

Kabir didn't look away.

For once… he didn't hide.

"Yes."

One word.

Heavy. Honest. Final.

Silence fell between them.

Meera's fingers trembled slightly around her bag strap.

"So everything… the ignoring… the distance… it was all because of this?"

Kabir's jaw tightened.

"Yes."

A pause.

"Because if I let you get close… they would use you to destroy me."

Meera looked down for a moment.

Then whispered—

"Or you would destroy me yourself."

That hit harder than anything.

Kabir's eyes flickered.

Because she wasn't wrong.

For years, he believed distance was protection.

But standing here now…

he realized something terrifying.

Distance had not saved her.

It had only confused her.

And hurt her.

Kabir took a slow breath.

Then stepped closer.

This time… no hesitation.

No running.

No rules.

"I was wrong," he said quietly.

Meera looked up sharply.

Kabir Rajvansh never admitted anything.

Never.

"I thought ignoring you would keep you safe," he continued.

His voice lowered.

"But all it did was bring you closer to danger anyway."

Meera's heart raced.

"What are you trying to say?"

Kabir stared at her for a long moment.

Then finally—

"I'm not going to run anymore."

Her breath caught.

"What does that mean?"

Kabir's expression hardened… but his eyes softened just slightly.

"It means if you're already in danger because of me…"

A pause.

"…then I won't leave you alone in it."

Meera stepped back instinctively.

"That's not safe."

Kabir nodded once.

"I know."

Another silence.

But this one was different.

Not empty.

Heavy with truth.

From a distance, a phone camera clicked.

Unnoticed.

Unknown.

Watching them.

Kabir noticed the shift in Meera's expression.

"What is it?" he asked.

Meera shook her head slightly.

"I just… don't understand you."

Kabir almost smiled—but didn't.

"Neither do I."

And for the first time…

there was no mafia boss in front of her.

No rules.

No empire.

Just a man standing too close to a girl he was never supposed to care about.

Kabir stepped slightly back.

Not because he wanted distance…

but because he was forcing himself to control what came next.

"I'll handle everything," he said firmly.

Meera frowned. "And me?"

Kabir looked at her one last time.

Longer than before.

Deeper.

Then said quietly—

"You just stay alive."

He turned.

Walked away.

This time not to ignore her…

but to fight the world that was coming for her.

And Meera stood there…

realizing something she never wanted to accept.

Ignoring her was not the end of his love.

It was only the beginning of his war.

To be continued… 💔
