Chapter 1 - “The Summons of the Unknown”

Part 1 – The Call Beyond

Sudesh Chakraborty, a 21-year-old college student from Kolkata, lived a quiet middle-class life. His father was a school teacher, his mother a homemaker. Yet, from childhood, Sudesh was different—drawn to mysteries beyond the visible. While his friends played, he would rummage through his grandfather's old trunk, reading books about spirits, the unseen, and ancient rituals. His grandfather always warned him, "Once you open a door, Sudesh, you invite danger. Some mysteries are safer left untouched."

But curiosity was stronger than fear. Every night, Sudesh dreamed of a dark room with a board in the center. A shadowy voice whispered: "Come… open the door…" The dreams felt so real that sometimes he would wake up screaming, drenched in sweat.

One morning, compelled by an irresistible urge, he left his home. With a bag containing a few clothes and his grandfather's old diary, he embarked on a journey into the unknown. The last page of the diary read: "Once the door is opened, it cannot be closed." Every word seemed to breathe a silent threat.

After days of travel, he reached a strange village, its roads cracked and walls crumbling, as if time itself had forgotten it. At the village corner stood a decrepit house. Three figures emerged from the shadows. Their eyes held a strange intensity. "Do you truly wish to know about them?" they asked. They introduced themselves as researchers.

That night, they led Sudesh inside the abandoned house. Candlelight flickered on the walls, casting strange shadows. In the center lay a planchette board. The glass began moving on its own. Sudesh realized he was not alone. Something unseen was present, watching him.

In the following days, Sudesh began to change. Dark circles formed under his eyes. Sometimes he spoke, yet the voice was not his own. One night, he saw his mother crying. A whisper slithered through the air: "Your family is not safe." On a fresh page of the diary appeared: "They are coming… through you…" And another note: "One will come at the end… trust not them…" Sudesh knew something was coming, but he could not yet grasp its horror.

One afternoon, he sat by a crumbling graveyard, lost in despair. Suddenly, a holy man appeared—long hair, deep eyes, and a serene, unsettling presence.

"You have opened the door. Now, they will come."

Sudesh screamed, "Save me!"

The man began chanting. Slowly, shadows began to seep into Sudesh's body.

Part 2 – Possession of Shadows

In the following days, a group of youngsters from the city came to the village. They noticed Sudesh's strange behavior—he no longer felt entirely human. That night, the planchette board shook violently. They realized: Sudesh was no longer himself; he was now a shadow-bound vessel.

Doors began to slam on their own. The wind carried whispers that made the hair on their necks stand up. Panic set in. They knew the only way to save him was through his grandfather's diary.

Led by Rohan, a brave young man, they began reciting the rituals written in the diary. Smoke curled around them, the air burned faintly, and Sudesh's suppressed humanity fought to emerge. He screamed: "I want freedom!" Gradually, the shadow's grip loosened, but even as he freed himself, a chilling whisper lingered: "Another door will open…"

Part 3 – The Shadow Moves

The shadow's influence crept into the city. The streets of Kolkata echoed with faint whispers: "Open the door…" People trembled with fear, their voices caught in silent screams.

Rohan, the young journalist, began investigating. Using fragments of the grandfather's diary, he discovered the truth: the shadows could travel through doors, through the portals Sudesh had unwittingly opened.

That night, the shadows surged toward him. He held the diary tightly and recited the ancient words. Light exploded into the darkness. The shadows froze. Sudesh, still partially possessed, blinked and saw his own humanity reflected in Rohan's courage. The city felt alive again, the wind calm, the night less threatening.

Part 4 – The Ultimate Confrontation

Yet, the shadows were not completely gone. Every door in the city had become a potential gateway. Rohan tracked Sudesh to an abandoned monastery at the city's edge. Strange lines were drawn on the floor. The air shimmered with faint, spectral light.

Sudesh approached him, eyes darkened by the lingering shadow. He screamed: "I want freedom!"

Rohan chanted the diary's final words. Slowly, the shadows weakened. The city's inhabitants regained awareness.

Part 5 – Liberations

Sudesh's eyes cleared. The darkness that had consumed him receded, replaced by the human warmth that once defined him. The city breathed again. The diary's last page whispered a final warning: "Those who confront fear find new paths. Darkness is never eternal."

The people of Kolkata began to heal. Courage and hope replaced fear. Sudesh finally understood the weight of curiosity, but also the power of confronting the unknown.

Part 6 – A New Dawn

The city woke to a calm morning. Doors remained closed, but the air carried a sense of vigilance and strength. Sudesh and Rohan stood silently, knowing the shadows might return—but humans had learned to resist, to fight, and to survive.

The diary lay closed, but its words echoed in their hearts: "Bravery in the face of fear opens new doors. Darkness cannot last forever."

And with that, the city stepped into a new day, cautious yet unafraid, ready to meet whatever unknown might appear next.
