Chapter 6 - Chapter Six

Ethan's pov

Freya and I were seated near the fire, she was quiet, her gaze locked on the dancing flames, it was as if she was thinking about something but one thing I knew was that someone had hurt my precious mate.

I was surprised that she trusted me enough to come to my place. I guess it's because of the mate bond. I know she felt the connection between us but not as intense as I did.

She's probably hungry maybe I should whipp up something for her. I rose from the chair and walked to the open plan kitchen.

This cabin was given to me as a gift by my father for my eighteenth birthday. I come here on every full moon, it's the time where I completely lose control over myself.

I turn into a half man half beast. I can't completely shift on a full moon which I'm clueless as to why I can't however my father thinks I might be cursed.

I grabbed some eggs and bacon from the refrigerator and turn up the stove.

Fortunately cooking is one of my favorite hobbies.

"You need some help?" She offered a small smile gracing her lips.

I shook my head smiling. "I've got it under control"

A moment later we're both seated at the table.

"I never took you for a man that cooks." She commented.

I let out a slight chuckle. "I can do absolutely anything and once you get to know me you would see for yourself."

"Well I'm glad to hear that. My ex was nothing like you."

Hearing that my mood instantly turned sour. I clenched the fork in my hand.

Ex? So there was a man in her life? Was that the reason she was crying?

I cleared my throat placing down the fork and focusing my attention on her.

" What happened between you two? If you don't mind me asking."

She took in a deep breath staring down at her untouched food.

"He cheated on me with my best friend."

I clenched my fist. I'm going to kill this bastard for hurting her.

"I'm sorry to hear that I can't imagine the pain you must be going through."

She snickered. "I've been through worse so this is nothing."

My poor mate she's been through so much and yet she still puts on a brave face.

I want too take away all of her pain and be there for her. I just hope she would let me too.

Once we were done eating I tidied up the kitchen and shoved the dishes into the dishwasher and then prepared a cup of hot chocolate for her.

"Thanks," She murmured, taking the steaming cup from my hand.

"You're welcome, " I smiled plopping down on the chair beside her with a glass of bourbon in my other hand.

There's an awkward silence between us until she speaks.

"Do you live here alone?" She asked.

"Well I don't actually live here this is where I come to take a break away from my father and work. I live a few blocks away from here with my family."

"I see." She mumbled looking down at the cup.

"Are you the only child?" She asked.

"Unfortunately not. I have a younger sister who's damn annoying." I grumbled.

She chuckled slightly taking a sip of the hot chocolate.

"And you? Any siblings?" I implored.

"No, I don't. I'm the only child."

"you're lucky you're the only child. My sister is my father's favorite, he adores her and would do absolutely anything for her but with me, it's different. He's always been hard on me"

"But altlest you still have him unlike me I don't have my dad around."

"What do you mean?" I asked raising a brow.

She gave me a sad smile which broke my heart into a million pieces.

"My parents got divorced when I was little and after that I never saw my dad again. He forgot that I existed, not once did he call or visit me."

"I'm sorry I had no idea. What about your mom? Do you live with her?"

She let's out a sigh and stares into the fire, a lone tear rolls down her cheek.

"She was the worst mother ever."

I frowned. "Why would you say that?"

She sniffled wiping away her tears.

"She hated me because I reminded her of my father. I apologize once again for being such an emotional wreck. My life is pretty messed up," she croaked.

I placed the glass aside taking her hand in mine and bringing it to my lips. "You don't need to be sorry for anything, it's okay to let it out sometimes and you know what?" I said tilting her chin so that her gaze met mine.

"You should be proud of yourself not many would've made it this far as you did. You're strong and brave don't ever forget that."

She let out a soft chuckle. "I hardly ever think myself as being strong or brave for that matter but thank you, no one has ever said that to me."

"You're welcome." I grinned, letting go of her.

A yawn escaped her lips. "You're probably tired, why don't we get you to bed?"

She nodded getting up.

"If there's anything you need just ask me, I'm in the room next to yours

and also if you want, you can use the shower." I said pointing to the bathroom.

She nodded digging into her bag, pulling out her clothes.

"I'll leave it to you then." I said as I turned on my heels heading for the door.

But before I could she grabbed my hand stopping me.

My wolf howled at the contact. He wanted nothing more than to come out and show her how much he wanted her.

"I never get to thank you properly. You've been nothing but kind towards me and I'm grateful for that."

She went on her tiptoes and placed a kiss on my left cheek.

Just by doing that she ignited something deep within me which I won't be able to control any longer.

A deep crimson crept on her cheek.

"Thank you once again for everything Ethan."

"My pleasure." I murmured, walking away before I lose control and do something I might regret.
