Freya's pov
My heart hammered in my chest as I gripped onto the steering wheel more tighter, causing my knuckles to turn white. My gaze continuously drifting to the review mirror, checking if I was being followed by one of Ethan's men.
A sigh of relief left my lips when I saw nobody behind me, the road was eerily quite.
I leaned back against the seat comfortably, and loosened my grip on the steering wheel.
I can't wait to get home and forget this ever happened and him, especially. My biggest mistake was trusting him. I was so damn foolishly to trust a man that I just met within a few hours and the worst part is I gave him my virtue.
I stared up at the sky, the clouds were dark and gray and soon the entire sky was pitch-black.
Wonderful! It seems like we're going to have a storm and I desperately need to get out of this godforsaken place.
The sound of my phone buzzing pulled my gaze away from the road for just a minute. I reached out, grabbing my phone from my bag.
It's Maggie. Who else would be calling another than her? She's the only person in the entire world who genuinely cares about me.
"Hi Maggie." I answered the call, focusing my gaze back onto the road.
"Freya, my dear child. How are you? And how's your vacation going so far?"
I wanted to scoff but held back.
Vacation? This was more like a god damn horror movie. I never knew that men could suddenly turn into huge wolves.
"I'm on my way home." I replied, trying to keep voice steady.
"Why? It's not even a day and you're coming back so soon."
If only she knew the drama I've been through in just one day. Even if I tell her she would never believe me instead she'd laugh at me and think I've lost my mind.
"I don't like it here and I really miss home and you as well." Hoping she'd buy it.
She sighed. "Well I guess the next vacation we'll both go together and you won't have to miss me cause I'll be there with you." She chuckled.
No. I don't think I ever want to go on a vacation ever again or even think of leaving my hometown. I'm much more safe there and I doubt we have beasts living amongst us.
" Of course." I mumbled.
"That sounds wonderful. I'm going to get back to work. I'll see you when you get back."
"Okay. See you later." I said and quickly ended the call, throwing my phone on the seat.
The wipers could barely keep up with the torrential downpour as I gripped the steering wheel, peering anxiously through the foggy windshield.
Suddenly a haunting howl pierced through the sky and my heart leaped into my throat.
They found me. I muttered, glancing at the review mirror but didn't find anyone behind me, focusing my gaze
back onto the road. I saw a woman appear out of nowhere, making me gasp in sheer terror as
I slammed the brakes, the tires screeched as I steered away, narrowly missing the woman who darted in the middle of the road.
Heart hammering in my chest, I unbuckled my seat belt and got out of the car.
I gasped, my eyes widening. "What the hell?" I was certain I saw a woman not a wolf.
Was I imagining things or have I completely lost my mind?
staring at the injured wolf laying infront of my car. "Oh god! What do I do?" I muttered, clasping my hair.
The wolf whimpered and I slowly shifted closer, kneeling besides the small brown wolf. It's fur mattered with blood, it's eyes were halfway opened as it stared it me.
"Let's see what I can do to help you." I said, getting up and rushing toward the car. I opened the trunk and grabbed the first aid kit.
The poor animal was bleeding profusely and there wasn't much I could do to help it. There was a two bullet wounds one.
My heart hurt there's nothing I could do to save the poor creature from it's death. I can't imagine the pain it's going through. Whoever had done this to this poor animal, I hope they suffer twice as much as it did.
I wiped away my tears, and got up. I couldn't leave the animal in the middle of the road so I mustered all of my strength and dragged it's body to the side of the road, throwing a blanket on its body.

Ethan's pov
"Alpha, I have bad news, it's regarding your mate."
My heart thundered. Praying it isn't bad as I think it is.
The moon goddess can't be this cruel, can she? I've just met her not long ago. She can't take her away from me so soon, we have our whole life's ahead of us, I just got to know her a little and an eternity of loving and cherishing her.
Ripping the rogues head off completely from its body and tossing it's body aside, I snarled in the mindlink.
"Where is she? Where's my mate?"
"Alph-" I snarled cutting him off.
"get to the fucking point."
"She escaped."
"What!" I roared. "How the fuck could you be so irresponsible. I gave you a simple fucking task to watch her and you failed."
"I'm sorry alph-"
"I don't want to fucking hear it Andrew. I'm giving an hour to find her and if you fail then moon goddess be with you."
How could he be so reckless? Was it that difficult for him to watch over her? After all she's just a human, a fragile little human.
"I disagree. You shouldn't underestimate her, she maybe seem fragile and naive but she isn't."
"You think so?"
"I know so. She's a spitfire. She wasn't afraid of you when she drove a knife into you. Was she?"
"No, she wasn't afraid to do it. She wasn't afraid of me although she knew what I was and capable of doing but she stood up to me, not even my own father had the guts to do so."
"Exactly. Our mate is much capable of defending for herself, if I were you I'd give her much credit. Not many humans would have had the guts to stand up to you the way she did."
"And now we've lost her because of my carelessness."
"We didn't loose her, we'll find her.... Soon enough."
