The forest was darker now, shadows stretching between the trees as the afternoon sun slowly slipped behind the mountains.
Alex moved cautiously along the narrow dirt path, the iron dagger in his hand glinting faintly. His muscles ached from the battles with the Shadow Wolves, but the familiar rush of adrenaline pushed him forward. Each step he took brought him closer to completing his quest.

The system's notification hovered in front of him, glowing softly. It felt like a silent guide—always there, but never telling him everything. Alex had learned to rely on it, but he also knew it wouldn't fight his battles for him.
A faint rustle of leaves made him freeze. He crouched low, scanning the surrounding trees. Analyze activated automatically.

Two wolves stepped out from behind a fallen log. Their black fur blended perfectly with the shadows, but their glowing red eyes gave them away.
Alex took a deep breath. This time, he wasn't panicking. He remembered how the first three had fallen. His movements were sharper, more precise. He adjusted his grip on the dagger and waited for the right moment.
The wolves lunged almost simultaneously.
Alex dodged to the side, rolling over a fallen branch. One wolf tried to circle him from the left, but he swung the dagger in a wide arc, striking its flank. The wolf yelped and stumbled back.
The second wolf charged from the front. Alex ducked under its claws and countered with a quick slash to its shoulder. The dagger bit in deep.

The thought made his skin crawl. If someone found out about it, he could be in serious danger. Yet, without it, he would have died last night. He clenched his fists.
"Guess I don't have a choice," he muttered. "I need it to survive."
After another half hour of careful tracking, he finally spotted movement ahead. Five glowing red eyes appeared from the shadows.
"Wait… five?" Alex whispered.
The wolves had gathered together. They were bigger than the previous ones he fought, their fur thicker and their muscles more defined. His Analyze skill flickered.

Alex swallowed.

The first wolf charged. Alex sidestepped and slashed at its side. The dagger cut deep, but the creature didn't fall. The Alpha lunged after him, its claws swiping dangerously close. Alex rolled forward, narrowly avoiding a strike.
The other wolves circled, trying to trap him. He slashed and dodged, striking one wolf after another, but it was exhausting. Each movement required precise timing, and one mistake could end his life.
Focus. Timing. Patience.

Alex concentrated, scanning the Alpha wolf carefully. Its flank seemed less armored, slightly narrower than the rest of its body.
He nodded to himself. There's the opening.
As the Alpha lunged again, Alex dodged and stabbed precisely at the weak spot. The wolf yelped in pain, staggering back. The other wolves hesitated, sensing their leader was wounded.
Seizing the opportunity, Alex moved like lightning, striking each wolf strategically. One fell. Then another.
Finally, only the Alpha remained. Its eyes burned with fury, but Alex stood firm.
With a deep breath, he dodged a swipe and plunged the dagger into the Alpha's side. The wolf roared, spinning violently, then collapsed with a heavy thud. The forest fell silent. The system flashed triumphantly.
