Chapter 1 - 1:Ascension

Rain fell heavily from the dark sky, drumming against the pavement and soaking everything in sight. Streetlights flickered weakly through the mist, casting long shadows across the empty road.

Kai walked slowly, hands buried deep in the pockets of his jacket. His shoes splashed through shallow puddles as he made his way home from the convenience store where he worked part-time.

Another long day. Another day exactly like the last.

He sighed quietly.

At twenty two years old, Kai felt like life had already decided everything for him. He wasn't particularly talented. He wasn't rich. He wasn't someone people noticed. In school, he had always been average just another face in the crowd.

Even now, nothing had changed.

He worked, went home, slept and repeated the same cycle the next day.

Sometimes he wondered if this was all life had to offer.

The rain grew heavier, soaking his hair and jacket. He barely noticed.

His mind wandered to the stories he loved reading online stories of heroes, magic and impossible adventures. Characters who were weak one moment and powerful the next. Characters who were reborn in new worlds where they could become anything.

Kai chuckled bitterly.

"Yeah… right," he muttered under his breath. "As if something like that could happen in real life."

Lightning flashed across the sky.

For a moment the entire street turned white.

Kai paused.

A strange feeling crept down his spine.

He looked up.

And that's when he saw it.

A blinding light shot across the sky, faster than anything he had ever seen. It streaked toward the ground like a falling star.

Before he could even react

The world exploded into white.

A deafening crash filled the air.

Pain shot through his body like lightning tearing through his nerves. His vision spun violently as the ground rushed toward him.

Then everything went silent.

His body felt cold.

Heavy.

Distant.

Kai tried to move, but he couldn't feel his limbs anymore. The sound of the rain slowly faded until there was nothing left but darkness.

"So… this is it…" he thought weakly.

His breathing grew shallow.

Strange. He always imagined dying would feel more dramatic. But instead it just felt quiet… empty.

His final thought drifted through his fading mind.

I guess… I really was ordinary after all.

Darkness swallowed everything.

Warmth.

That was the first thing he felt.

Soft warmth wrapped around his body like sunlight on a peaceful morning. His senses slowly returned, one by one.

Kai frowned slightly.

Something felt wrong.

The air smelled different. Fresh. Clean. Almost sweet.

And the bed beneath him felt softer than anything he had ever slept on before.

Wait.

Bed?

His eyes shot open.

Bright sunlight poured through tall windows, filling the room with golden light.

Kai blinked rapidly, confused.

This was not his small apartment.

The ceiling above him was high and beautifully decorated with intricate carvings. Long white curtains swayed gently in the breeze. The walls were covered with elegant paintings and golden frames.

Everything looked expensive.

Very expensive.

Kai slowly sat up, his heart beginning to race.

"Where… am I?"

His voice sounded strange. Clearer somehow.

He looked down at himself.

Instead of the cheap clothes he had been wearing earlier, his body was dressed in soft white fabric embroidered with silver patterns. The material felt incredibly smooth beneath his fingers.

"What the…?"

Kai quickly swung his legs off the bed and stood up.

The room spun slightly as he adjusted to the unfamiliar feeling in his body.

Something felt different.

Stronger.

Lighter.

He stumbled toward a tall mirror standing near the wall.

And then he froze.

The person staring back at him… wasn't the same person he remembered.

His hair was silver.

Not gray.

Silver.

It fell neatly around his face, shining softly in the sunlight. His eyes were a deep violet color he had never seen before. His features looked sharper, more refined.

More… handsome.

Kai slowly reached up and touched his face.

The reflection copied his movement.

"This… this isn't me."

His heart pounded harder.

"What's going on?"

Before he could think further, the door behind him creaked open.

Kai turned quickly.

A young woman stepped into the room.

She looked to be around his age, wearing a long black dress that flowed elegantly around her. Her dark hair fell smoothly over her shoulders, and her calm eyes observed him carefully.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then she smiled faintly.

"You're awake."

Kai stared at her, completely confused.

"Who are you?"

Instead of answering immediately, she walked further into the room with slow, confident steps.

"I was wondering when you would wake up," she said calmly.

Kai felt his uneasiness grow.

"Wake up from what?"

The woman stopped a few steps away from him.

Her gaze seemed to study him, almost as if she was confirming something important.

Then she spoke.

"You died."

Kai blinked.

"…What?"

"You died in your previous world," she repeated, her tone strangely casual. "But fate has granted you another chance."

The room suddenly felt very quiet.

Kai's mind struggled to process her words.

"…Another chance?"

She nodded slightly.

"You have been reincarnated."

The word echoed in his mind.

Reincarnated.

Just like the stories he used to read.

Kai laughed nervously.

"Okay… this has to be some kind of joke."

But the woman didn't laugh.

Her expression remained calm.

"Look around you," she said gently.

Kai slowly turned his head.

The luxurious room.

The unfamiliar body.

The strange world outside the window where towering stone buildings stood in the distance.

None of it looked like Earth.

His laughter slowly faded.

"…You're serious."

"Yes."

Kai felt his legs weaken slightly as he sat down on the edge of the bed.

"So… I'm really… in another world?"

The woman nodded again.

"This world is very different from the one you left behind. Here, strength decides everything. Power, magic, influence… those who possess them rise to the top."

Kai stared at his hands.

Magic.

Power.

The words sounded unreal.

"Why me?" he asked quietly.

"Why was I reincarnated?"

The woman's eyes glinted slightly.

"That… is something you will discover yourself."

Kai looked back up at her.

"For now," she continued, "you should focus on understanding your new life. This world is filled with opportunities… but also dangers."

Her voice became slightly more serious.

"Your new body carries great potential. But potential alone means nothing if you fail to use it."

Kai felt a strange excitement begin to stir in his chest.

A world of magic.

A second chance.

A life where he might actually become someone important.

Slowly, he clenched his fists.

"Then I'll use it," he said firmly.

The woman watched him silently.

"I wasted my first life being ordinary," Kai continued. "But if I've really been given another chance…"

His violet eyes reflected determination.

"I won't waste this one."

For the first time, the woman's smile widened slightly.

"Good."

She turned toward the window.

"Because in this world… greatness is never given."

Her voice carried a quiet warning.

"It must be taken."

Kai stood beside her and looked out at the unfamiliar city stretching across the horizon.

A new world.

A new life.

And countless possibilities waiting ahead.

He took a deep breath.

"This time," he whispered to himself, "I'll become someone extraordinary."

Suddenly, a strange symbol burned briefly on the back of his hand.

Kai frowned.

"What…?"

The mysterious woman's expression changed instantly.

For the first time, she looked shocked.

"That mark…" she whispered.

Her voice trembled slightly.

"How do you have the mark of the Forbidden Sovereign?"
