Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4 The First Circulation

The clearing was silent.

Elder Rin stood several steps away, watching carefully.

"This will be different," he said.

Kai nodded.

In front of him sat a small stone platform.

On it rested a single Spirit Herb — its leaves glowing faintly with green light.

"Today," the elder continued, "you will attempt Qi circulation."

Kai looked at the herb.

He could see its energy clearly.

It flowed in gentle loops inside the plant.

Balanced.

Stable.

The elder explained calmly:

"You will absorb a small amount. Then guide it through your body. Do not force it."

Kai closed his eyes.

He extended his hand toward the herb.

The moment his fingers touched the glowing leaf—

Warm energy flowed into his palm.

Not violent.

Not overwhelming.

But real.

His body reacted instantly.

Muscles aligned.

Breathing slowed.

Kai focused.

He allowed the Qi to enter without resistance.

The energy moved up his arm.

He could feel it clearly — like a stream traveling through invisible channels inside him.

Meridians.

He remembered the word naturally.

The Qi reached his shoulder.

It paused.

As if waiting.

Kai gently guided it forward.

Not pushing.

Just directing.

The energy moved through his chest.

The fragments of the shattered system flickered faintly, organizing the flow.

For a brief moment, Kai felt resistance — a slight pressure near his heart.

He adjusted his breathing.

Inhale.

Exhale.

The pressure eased.

The Qi continued downward.

Through his abdomen.

Into his lower body.

Completing a full cycle.

When the energy returned to his core, it settled.

Not chaotic.

Not explosive.

Stable.

Kai opened his eyes slowly.

The world felt different again.

Sharper.

His senses expanded slightly.

He could feel the flow of energy inside his body — a small glowing loop rotating steadily within him.

Elder Rin stepped closer.

"Well?"

Kai stood up.

"I completed one circulation."

The elder's eyes widened slightly.

"In one attempt?"

"Yes."

The elder reached forward and placed two fingers on Kai's wrist.

He closed his eyes.

He felt the internal Qi loop.

Stable.

Clean.

No turbulence.

No damage.

"…Extraordinary."

Kai looked down at his hands.

The energy inside him felt warm.

Alive.

But controlled.

"Is this… Qi Condensation?"

The elder shook his head.

"No. This is the beginning."

He stepped back.

"What you have done is the first true cycle."

Kai nodded.

He could feel something else now.

The Qi inside him was slowly strengthening the connection between his body and energy.

His muscles felt more responsive.

His perception slightly sharper.

The system fragments reacted again — but this time differently.

Not as commands.

As structure refinement.

Kai closed his eyes again.

He tried guiding the Qi faster.

This time, the circulation accelerated slightly.

The energy moved more smoothly.

The elder noticed immediately.

"Careful."

Kai stopped.

"I'm not forcing it."

"You are adapting too quickly," the elder said seriously.

"That can attract attention."

Kai opened his eyes.

From the edge of the forest, a faint red shimmer flickered.

Very distant.

Very subtle.

But Kai noticed it.

His gaze shifted instantly.

Elder Rin followed his line of sight.

The elder's expression hardened.

"…They felt it."

Kai understood.

Even a small Qi circulation in this region could be sensed by stronger cultivators.

The elder spoke quietly:

"Your first cycle creates a ripple in the world."

Kai looked toward the mountains.

"So this is how cultivation begins."

"Yes."

The elder's tone became firm.

"And now you are visible."

A pause.

Kai felt no fear.

Only clarity.

If this world had rules…

He would learn them.

If it had limits…

He would understand them.

And if it had cages…

He would break them.

Inside his core, the small loop of Qi continued rotating steadily.

Stable.

Controlled.

The first step was complete.

Far beyond the valley, deep within a distant tower of stone and crystal, a formation array flickered.

A new alert appeared.

ENERGY SIGNATURE DETECTED.

UNREGISTERED VARIANT.

The light pulsed once.

Then stabilized.

Somewhere, someone began paying attention.
