Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: The Lightning-Dragon’s Error and the Mid-Air Infiltration

Chapter 19: The Lightning-Dragon's Error and the Mid-Air Infiltration

The Azure Temple did not sit on the earth. It was a masterpiece of 6-Star Architecture, a massive floating continent of white jade and silver towers suspended four thousand meters above the clouds. Surrounding it was a permanent storm—the Eye of Indra Formation. This was not natural weather; it was a rhythmic, defensive electrical field designed to vaporize any unauthorized creature that entered its airspace.

Tian Mo stood on the back of a Winged Night-Mare, his tattered janitor robes whipping in the freezing high-altitude wind. Behind him, his nine students were mounted on similar beasts, their faces pale but determined.

[Divine Library Notification: Analyzing Eye of Indra Formation...]

[Status: 6-Star High-Grade.]

[Mechanism: Uses atmospheric static to fuel a 'Lightning Dragon' spirit-construct.]

[Energy Reserves: 15% (Warning: High consumption predicted).]

"Teacher," Lu Feng shouted over the roar of the thunder. "The Night-Mares are terrified! They won't go any closer. The lightning ahead isn't just energy; it's alive!"

Tian Mo looked at the swirling black clouds. Every few seconds, a massive serpent made of pure, white electricity—the Lightning Dragon—coiled through the air, its roar shaking the very atoms of their bodies.

"The Night-Mares are smart, Lu Feng," Tian Mo said, his eyes glowing with a sharp, calculating light. "They know that the Dragon follows a 'Zero-Sum' logic. It seeks anything with a higher conductivity than the air and deletes it. But the Dragon has a flaw. It was programmed by a 5-Star Beast Tamer who didn't understand Fluid Dynamics."

The 2-Star Beast Taming: Subduing the Storm

As they approached the outer rim of the storm, the Lightning Dragon sensed them. It lunged, a mile-long streak of white fire aimed directly at Tian Mo's heart.

"Now!" Tian Mo commanded.

He didn't pull a sword. He pulled out a copper wire he had stripped from the Villa of Whispers and attached it to a small, oscillating crystal.

"Beast Taming isn't about dominance," Tian Mo whispered, his voice carried by his 10x Qi into the storm. "It's about Resonance Correction."

The Lightning Dragon slammed into an invisible barrier ten feet from Tian Mo. But instead of exploding, the dragon began to vibrate.

[Logic Strike: Harmonic Interruption.]

[Action: Tuning the copper wire to the Dragon's 'Heartbeat' frequency.]

The massive beast of electricity slowed down. Its jagged, angry form began to smooth out, turning from a wild predator into a purring, static-filled pet.

"You were built to guard a Temple of Peace," Tian Mo said to the dragon, his hand reaching out to touch the white-hot energy. "But they've fed you the 'Anger-Qi' of a thousand sacrificed souls. Your left horn is misaligned by three degrees, causing your energy to leak and hurt you. Let me fix the itch."

Tian Mo's finger tapped the air where the dragon's horn would be. A small spark flew out.

The Lightning Dragon let out a hum of pure ecstasy. It coiled around the Night-Mares, not as a predator, but as a shield. The surrounding thunder, which should have vaporized the students, was suddenly absorbed by the dragon, creating a safe, silent tunnel through the clouds.

"Teacher... you just tamed a 6-Star Formation Guardian with a piece of wire?" Qin Yue stared, her mouth agape.

"I didn't tame it," Tian Mo said, his face pale as his energy dropped to 12%. "I simply offered it a better job. No one likes being a battery for a tyrant."

The Boarding: Breaking the Heavenly Eye

The tunnel led them directly to the "Lower Docks" of the floating temple. The jade floor was slick with condensation. As they landed, Tian Mo felt a heavy, oppressive weight settle on his shoulders.

"The Heavenly Eye," he muttered.

High above the central spire, a massive, crystalline eye was rotating, emitting a beam of golden light that scanned the entire horizon.

[Divine Library Notification: 6-Star Surveillance Detected.]

[Scanning for 'Soul Signatures'.]

[Masking Protocol: Activated (Consuming 1% Energy per minute).]

"We have to be fast," Tian Mo said. "The Eye is powered by a human catalyst. I can feel Su Qingyuan's Qi—it's being drained at a rate of 10% per hour to maintain the scan. She's in the Central Altar of the Star-Plucker Tower."

"Who goes there!" A group of Temple Guardians in silver-plate armor emerged from the shadows. These were 4-Star cultivators, their spears tipped with 'Soul-Piercing' gems.

"Lu Feng, the floor," Tian Mo commanded.

Lu Feng didn't hesitate. He slammed his palm into the jade floorboards. Because of the Dragon-Pulse tempering he had received in the previous chapter, his Qi carried the "Vibration of the Mountain."

The jade tiles didn't break; they slid.

The Guardians found themselves on a literal treadmill of moving stone. Because the tiles were laid in a Fibo-Sequence, Lu Feng's vibration caused them to rotate in a way that confused the human inner ear.

The 4-Star Guardians, masters of combat, suddenly became seasick, vomiting and collapsing as the very ground beneath them betrayed their sense of balance.

"Don't kill them," Tian Mo said, walking past the incapacitated guards. "They are just symptoms of a bad education. Our target is the power source."

The Star-Plucker Tower: The Human Battery

They climbed the spiral staircase of the Tower. The air grew thinner, and the smell of ozone became unbearable. At the top, they entered a chamber made entirely of transparent quartz.

In the center, suspended in a cage of golden lightning, was a woman. Her hair was like spun moonlight, but her face was gaunt, her eyes closed in a forced trance. This was Su Qingyuan, the Saintess, and Tian Mo's second wife.

Standing before her was a man in robes of pure white—High Priest Yan, a Half-Step 5-Star Master.

"You've come far, Janitor," Yan said, not turning around. "To tame the Lightning Dragon... impressive. But you are too late. The Heavenly Eye is at 90% synchronization. Once it reaches 100%, the Azure Empire will have total control over every thought in the continent. Your 'Logic' will be deleted."

"Your Eye is built on a lie, Yan," Tian Mo said, his voice cold and echoing in the quartz chamber. "You think you're using her soul to see the world. But you're actually using her soul to hide your own Cultivation Flaw. You have a 'Black Spot' in your Golden Core, don't you? A corruption you couldn't fix, so you built a 6-Star array to mask the stench of your rotting spirit."

High Priest Yan froze. He turned around, his face a mask of religious fury. "Slander! This is for the greater good of the Empire!"

"It's for your ego," Tian Mo said.

[Divine Library: WARNING!]

[High Priest Yan is initiating 'Self-Destruction' of the cage. He intends to kill the Saintess to trigger a Soul-Blast.]

"Teacher! Look at the cage!" Mo Ling cried out.

The golden lightning around Su Qingyuan began to turn a violent red. The frequency was rising—the sound of a bomb about to go off.

The 10x Consumption: Eating the Temple

Tian Mo knew he couldn't stop the explosion with logic alone. He was at 8% Energy. If he failed here, Phase 2 would end in a graveyard.

"Tactician Wei, Executioner, Librarian... Merge," Tian Mo whispered.

The three Shadow Guards appeared behind him, their forms blurring together into a single, towering figure of grey mist.

"I don't need to stop the explosion," Tian Mo said, his eyes turning into pits of golden fire. "I just need to give it a better destination."

He walked toward the red lightning.

"Sovereign's Feast: The 10x Maw!"

Tian Mo didn't block the red lightning. He inhaled it.

The energy that was meant to vaporize the tower was sucked into Tian Mo's body. His 10x Foundation acted like a black hole, pulling the 6-Star energy into the Divine Library's furnace.

[Energy Level Rising: 10%... 30%... 60%... 95%!]

[System Note: 6-Star Energy detected. Library Upgrade: Rank 3.0 Initiated.]

[Ability Unlocked: Soul-Depth Projection (Can teach through direct mental imprinting).]

The red lightning vanished. The cage shattered. Su Qingyuan fell from the air, and Tian Mo caught her, her weightless form feeling like a feather in his arms.

High Priest Yan stared in horror. "You... you ate the Divine Spark? That was enough energy to power a city for a century!"

"I have a very high metabolism," Tian Mo said, his voice now booming with the power of the 6-Star energy he had just consumed.

He looked at Yan. "Now, about that Black Spot in your Golden Core... I could fix it. But I think I'd rather show your students how you've been stealing their life-force to keep your skin smooth."

The Great Reveal

Tian Mo turned his gaze toward the "Heavenly Eye" above them. With his new Rank 3.0 power, he projected a massive mental image into the sky—a projection that every citizen in the Empire could see.

He showed them the secret basement of the Temple. He showed them the "Energy Siphons" attached to the junior disciples' beds. He showed them the corruption of High Priest Yan.

"Behold your 'Gods'," Tian Mo's voice echoed across the Empire.

The floating temple began to shake. Without the "Saintess" as a battery and with the "Lightning Dragon" as a friend to Tian Mo, the formation that kept the jade continent in the sky began to fail.

"The Temple is falling!" the guards screamed.

"Let it fall," Tian Mo said, walking toward the Night-Mares with Su Qingyuan in his arms. "The earth has missed the jade for too long."
