The Python King did want to fight back, but he simply didn't have the ability.
His body was coiled up, and his head couldn't reach the vital spot on his neck (the seven-inch point). As for rolling over to throw Zhang Yang off his back — that was even more impossible.
With a body as massive as his, if he really rolled over a couple of times, what would happen to the plant he was protecting underneath?
Without that plant, he might as well be dead.
But what he never expected was that Zhang Yang was completely shameless. If he ignored Zhang Yang, Zhang Yang had no intention of leaving at all.
He just kept biting.
The Python King's perfectly fine seven-inch vital spot was bitten into a miserable mess by Zhang Yang.
"Hiss hiss!"
The Python King cried out in pain.
Only then did the surrounding pythons finally react — they probably shouldn't just be standing there watching the show.
Actually, the pythons didn't really want to watch either; it was just that the scene was honestly too exciting.
A lone wolf battling the Python King — my god, it was genuinely thrilling.
This was the first time they had ever seen their own Snake King get bitten so miserably.
"These melon-eating onlookers are really annoying."
Zhang Yang was very unhappy.
If they had given him just a bit more time, he could've bitten straight through the Python King's body.
Unfortunately, the others weren't going to give him that time.
What a perfect opportunity — the task completion was right in front of his eyes.
Annoyed, Zhang Yang was forced to leave the Python King's body.
He had to escape the battlefield before the pythons could completely surround him.
Although all his attributes were now maxed out, if he really got encircled by so many pythons, he probably still wouldn't be able to escape.
With his greatly increased strength, if Zhang Yang really wanted to leave, the pythons definitely couldn't stop him.
He charged wildly.
Jumping down from the Python King, Zhang Yang ran like a mad bull.
The pythons suffered.
They were knocked flying in all directions. Even though there were pythons everywhere, they couldn't form an effective blockade.
If all the pythons had been inside the snake cave, Zhang Yang wouldn't have been able to break out so easily.
They could've blocked the entrance just by piling their bodies up.
Fortunately, there weren't any pythons at the snake cave entrance right now — that became Zhang Yang's escape route.
After smashing through everything in his path, Zhang Yang successfully broke out of the python encirclement. He ran extremely fast and even had the mood to glance back once he entered the snake cave.
"Damn, there are really a lot of them."
Zhang Yang sighed slightly, then continued into the snake cave, ready to flee.
Meanwhile, under the Python King's command, the pythons chased after him like crazy.
The Python King himself didn't dare move — he had to protect that plant — but he absolutely would not allow Zhang Yang to come back and cause trouble in this underground space again.
Driving him away was only the first step. The second step was to kill him.
"Just you wait. Once this King evolves to the next level, I will definitely eat you."
The Python King's cold eyes radiated endless killing intent.
He watched Zhang Yang disappear into the snake cave and remembered his appearance clearly.
The wounds Zhang Yang left on his body today — one day, he would repay them tenfold, a hundredfold.
Zhang Yang, of course, couldn't hear the Python King's vicious words. He was sprinting wildly through the snake cave. The tunnel was quite spacious for him — two Zhang Yangs could even run side by side.
The feeling of escaping with his life was pretty great.
But after running for a while, Zhang Yang suddenly didn't feel like running anymore.
"Wait a second… didn't I come here to play 'escape from danger'? Didn't I come here to plunder evolution points?"
Zhang Yang suddenly realized a very important question.
When could running away ever make someone happy?
Wasn't that a bit too unambitious?
"That Python King probably won't chase after me. Even if he does, he won't be fast — he's injured that badly. I can escape anytime… so inside this snake cave…"
A rather crazy plan formed in Zhang Yang's mind.
The snake cave wasn't that wide. There were no enemies in front, only behind. In that case, the pythons' numerical advantage became meaningless.
If it was one-on-one, or even one-on-two or one-on-three, would Zhang Yang be afraid of these pythons?
"Run? Run my ass. I'm not running anymore."
Once he figured out the key point, Zhang Yang turned around. He wasn't running — he was going on a killing spree.
Running away was cowardly. Turning back and slaughtering them on the spot — that was the mark of a true brave.
Zhang Yang considered himself a brave man. He absolutely could not be a coward.
Alright… the truth was, he just couldn't bear to leave behind all those evolution points.
So many — tens of thousands!
Soon, the vanguard of the python group caught up to him.
When Zhang Yang saw them, he immediately grinned.
Sure enough, the pythons couldn't all rush him at once. At most, he only had to face three snakes at the same time.
That was excellent.
"Who are you hissing at? You think you're worthy? Take my claw!"
Seeing so many evolution points delivered right to his doorstep, Zhang Yang was ecstatic.
Right now, all his attributes were maxed out — his combat power was off the charts.
One swipe of his claw not only sent a python tumbling repeatedly, but also left a long, deep gash on its body.
Zhang Yang didn't chase after them — that was enough.
A wound that long would bleed them out eventually.
He fought while retreating — not because he couldn't handle them, but because he needed to leave space for the other pythons to come forward.
If he kept fighting in one spot, the fallen pythons would soon block the entire tunnel.
Only by keeping the battle flowing could he maintain enough room.
A few minutes later.
The first batch of bleeding pythons died.
Death by excessive blood loss.
"Ding! Killed python. Evolution points +500."
Zhang Yang felt a slight pain in his heart.
To deal with the earlier situation, he had been forced to max out all his attributes.
And now, the evolution points he gained from killing pythons had decreased because of that reinforcement.
Before, killing one python gave him 800 evolution points.
Now it was 300 less. Thinking about the number of pythons here, his heart hurt even more.
But Zhang Yang was practical. He turned grief into strength and fought the pythons even more joyfully.
Soon, the system's "ding ding" notifications strung together into one continuous beautiful melody — the most wonderful music Zhang Yang had ever heard.
When the beautiful music finally stopped, Zhang Yang realized a very serious problem.
The snakes were gone.
"That's it? They're all dead?"
He felt a bit unsatisfied.
When he glanced at his attribute panel, Zhang Yang smiled.
Although the evolution points per python were lower now, the sheer quantity made up for it.
Over a hundred pythons — when added together, they gave him nearly fifty thousand evolution points.
Well… not quite fifty thousand, but really just a tiny bit short.
"If I can kill that Python King too… would that be enough?"
After wiping out this entire den of pythons, Zhang Yang was feeling extremely inflated.
He had almost forgotten how terrified he was when facing the Python King earlier.
"How about… going back to take a look?"
He still remembered — once evolution points reached fifty thousand, the Level 3 Shop would unlock.
"Right. Let's go back and take a look."
Zhang Yang started walking, stepping over piles of python corpses, his heart surging with excitement.
When he returned to the underground space, Zhang Yang saw something that made him furious.
"This is way too disrespectful to me, isn't it?"
