Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Just Added One Day's Lifespan?

"Only three hours of lifespan left? You're not kidding, right?"

Looking at his attribute panel, Zhang Yang's heart was shattered.

Originally, transmigrating was a pretty magical thing, and getting an All Things Evolution System was super cool.

But seriously, only three hours of lifespan left? Was this for real?

The countdown timer glowing red on the attribute panel stabbed at Zhang Yang's heart and liver.

This attribute panel belonged to the All Things Evolution System.

Zhang Yang was the host.

Though his name Zhang Yang meant "flaunting" or "showy," his current appearance was anything but impressive, because he had turned into an ant.

Host: Zhang Yang

Species: Worker Ant (Ordinary Beast)

Strength: 0

Constitution: 0

Agility: 0

Mental Power: 1

Talent: Infinite Strength (Beginner)

Storage Space: Empty (32 slots)

Evolution Points: 0

Lifespan: 2 hours 58 minutes

(Note: Poor little ant, you're about to die.)

"Ding, Newbie Tip: Congratulations to the host for activating the All Things Evolution System. This system is designed to assist the host in evolving into the strongest ancient creature surpassing divine beasts. The host is destined to become an existence that tramples gods and demons. Please work hard to survive in this gods and demons pet beast paradise."

Trample gods and demons?

Paralyzed, bragging without even drafting it, huh?

With this little ant form, how am I supposed to trample anything?

What about ordinary beasts and divine beasts? Does that mean there are fierce beasts and demon beasts too?

None of that matters.

What matters is that my lifespan is down to 3 hours—how am I supposed to accept this?

Zhang Yang felt utterly miserable. He had finally caught the transmigration wave, but he turned into an ant, and the system he got was a guy who loved to boast.

But if you're going to boast, why only give me 3 hours to live? Who are you messing with?

"System, come out! What do you mean by this? Explain yourself clearly."

Zhang Yang stopped in the ant nest, standing still amid the army of worker ants.

His mind was roaring wildly, hoping the system would give him an explanation.

"Ding, Triggered Mission: First Kill. Mission Requirement: Kill any living creature. Mission Reward: Unknown."

A mission triggered?

"Don't you have a newbie gift pack? How am I supposed to complete the mission empty-handed?"

Zhang Yang thought he was making a reasonable request, but the system remained silent.

Fine, actually, Zhang Yang was overestimating himself a bit.

He was just the weakest kind of worker ant, the type that worked itself to death.

He didn't even have hands.

However, even without hands, at least he had a talent. Something as high-end as a talent wasn't something every ant could have, right?

Talent: Infinite Strength (Beginner). Though it was only beginner level and only doubled his own strength, this was already Zhang Yang's only trump card.

"Kill an enemy—who should I kill?"

Zhang Yang glanced around him. There were plenty of ants, all black worker ants of the same species as him. Should he make a move on them?

Fine, actually, Zhang Yang had no choice; for now, he could only target his own kind.

"Sorry, buddy, but you're the closest one."

Zhang Yang glanced at the nearest worker ant and muttered an apology inwardly.

Then, he charged forward on his six little legs toward this unlucky fellow and nimbly climbed onto its back.

The unlucky worker ant was utterly confused.

He didn't understand why this fellow ant had climbed onto him for no reason.

And Zhang Yang, now on the unlucky ant's back, was also in a bind.

He was up there, but how to kill it? That was the question.

Use his antennae, or his not-so-sharp front legs?

It was just two ants stacked together. If it were a man and a woman, the woman underneath would probably be scorning him by now.

Little bro, I gave you a chance, but you're useless.

"Use my mouth?"

Zhang Yang felt a bit bitter inside.

Though turning into an ant was a fact, he still retained human thinking. Biting down for real felt a bit disgusting, right?

"For the mission, disgusting or not, what if the reward includes lifespan?"

Zhang Yang made up his mind and went for it.

Ignoring the disgust, Zhang Yang bit down on the unlucky ant's head.

He had to admit, as his only offensive weapon right now, his mandibles were pretty sharp.

The unlucky ant had no defense to speak of; its exoskeleton was pierced by Zhang Yang's bite, and it hurt like hell.

Now the unlucky ant was even more unhappy.

What the hell?

Did I provoke you?

Why the sudden deadly bite?

The unlucky ant started resisting, trying to shake Zhang Yang off its back.

In its consciousness, it had no intention of attacking Zhang Yang. Ants, after all, didn't have much intelligence; counter-biting wasn't in an ant's repertoire.

Unless the queen ordered it.

But even if the queen did, it couldn't bite Zhang Yang on its own back.

"Damn, quite strong. Do you have Infinite Strength too?"

The unlucky ant's struggles almost flung Zhang Yang off.

Zhang Yang was a bit surprised, but he quickly stabilized himself.

His six legs hooked firmly onto the unlucky ant's body. Without external interference, the unlucky ant couldn't shake him off.

"My mouth is a bit too small."

After biting several times, Zhang Yang complained inwardly again.

He was already biting as hard as he could while lying on the unlucky ant's back, but he still hadn't breached its skull. Instead, he accidentally bit off one of its antennae.

This caused the unlucky ant to lose balance, dragging Zhang Yang around the ant nest in a chaotic rampage.

Fortunately, this awkward situation didn't last too long. The unlucky ant had to live up to its name.

After over a minute of effort, Zhang Yang finally gnawed a hole in the unlucky ant's head.

When the unlucky ant stopped struggling, Zhang Yang collapsed onto its body.

"Not easy at all!"

It proved that subduing a fellow of the same kind was really tough.

"Ding, Killed Worker Ant. Evolution Points +1, Infinite Strength Fragment (Beginner) +1."

"Ding, Obtained Evolution Points. Evolution Function Activated. Host, please check it yourself."

"Ding, Mission Completed: First Kill. Mission Reward: Lifespan +1 Day, Strength +0.1."

A sudden surge of power appeared in Zhang Yang's body, quite magical, instantly injecting vitality into him.

"Just added one day's lifespan?"

Zhang Yang was very unhappy. Only one day added to his lifespan—wasn't that too little?

But that wasn't the focus right now. Zhang Yang opened his attribute panel again.

The panel had a bit of a fantasy vibe, semi-transparent with an ant pattern in the background. If Zhang Yang wasn't mistaken, it was probably what he looked like now.

His strength had indeed increased by 0.1, and evolution points went from 0 to 1.

What Zhang Yang focused on was the newly activated evolution function.

Specifically, evolution points had three uses:

Evolve (Consume evolution points to transform into another species. Note: After evolution, existing talents will be carried over.) Fuse (Consume evolution points to fuse with the same species or other species.) Strengthen (Enhance own attributes. Each species has attribute limits; reaching the limit requires evolving into another species to continue improving.)
