Alex looked around only to see he wasn't even in his own room any longer. Where am I? What is this place? I'm no longer in my own dorm room. Who is this pretty girl? She's pretty hot.
Think, Alex, how did you get here? Last time we checked, you weren't drunk at all. Michael invited you to a guys' night; you might have gotten a bit tipsy and blanked.

Turns out in this world, when you reach 18, you get awakened in a pool of monster essence which wakes your sleeping beast soul. Some may have two, but that's rare.
It is also divided into ranks; a beastmaster has to climb from Bronze Rank 1 to Rank 10. It follows the same pattern to Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum, Master, Grandmaster, Elite, Hero, Legendary, and the Forbidden rank.
The beasts are rated the same way from White (Common) to Blue, Red, Green, Purple, Gold, Black, Crimson, and Black-Gold.
"Damn, Amy, you're pushing me too hard! I'm awake. I'm not sleeping or anything; I'm fully up and ready."
"Shut up and go change. Stop wasting time talking trash."
"Okay, I'm on it. Geez, no need to shout."
"Tch. You better make sure to awaken, so we can make our parents proud." Alex turned and gave her a smile. "I will, don't worry about that."
In his mind... "Damn it, where the fuck is my system? System! Where is my fucking golden finger? I'm not gonna be like those guys without a system. Shit, you better come out now!"
But Alex got no response at all. "Fuck you, system," he said, as he finished freshening up and ate breakfast with Amy.
Amy is currently 16 and Alex turned 18 a few weeks ago. They have been together since childhood and are still together even now.
Their parents passed away when they were still young, around when Alex was 10. They died in the line of duty, and the original Alex had been pushing since then to make them proud.
He worked part-time jobs, from trash picking to washing cars, all while training. He did everything he could to fund both his and his sister's education.
"Have a good day, Alex. Wishing you luck," Amy said, her smile so bright it could outshine the sun.
"Okay, I have heard." Alex left the house and headed for the subway. He checked himself in the mirror—he was just pure, absolute average in looks.
On the train, he started thinking about how he was going to make this happen without a golden finger. What a bad day for Alex.
A few hours later... Sigh. School once more, and it's awakening day. Nothing to be scared about, right? Alex walked down the hallway using the original body's memories.
He found his class and, turns out, he was late. Other students had already arrived before him. "Fuck, turns out I'm late, as always."
He found his seat and instantly slumped into his chair like a useless piece of wood.
"Yo, Alex. What's rolling? You ready for awakening yet?" the fat boy said.
"Of course I'm ready. What do you think, I need help or consolement? Please don't tell me that shit; I don't wanna hear it at all."
"Geez, that's fine. I never needed you to be toxic about it," the fat guy said.
"I'm not toxic, I'm just... you know, Charlie, I'm not saying it."
"What, that you are scared? If it is about that, then get your balls together, bro. We in this together. Brotherhood for life."
"Yeah, I need to get my shit together. We are gonna do this."
"YOU BOTH SHOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP! WE ALL CAN HEAR YOU!" someone yelled. "Keep it down, I'm stressed, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, sorry Jackson. I forgot you shout when you're stressed. Not my problem anyways, I'm just getting ready to awaken."
Soon, the teacher came to lead them to the awakening room, where several baths had been prepared for them.
"So, we are gonna be starting in alphabetical order. We are all familiar with the rules, so no need for formalities. Adrian, come up."
Adrian was dressed like he was going to a fashion show. His clothes looked expensive. He went into the pool and soaked for a few minutes.
He was nervous at first, but he soon relaxed. Suddenly, everyone saw a bright green light hovering in the air. It took the shape of a lizard 🦎.
The teacher was astonished. "Adrian! Green lizard! Potential: High. Evolution: Azure Dragon!"
The teacher's face brimmed with joy. He never expected a student to awaken a Green talent; he was expecting White or maybe Blue.
Having a Green talent appear was definitely his lucky day. This was just a normal school in the outlands, ranked top 65 in the province.
After Adrian, a girl was called. "Amelia, step out." She wore the school uniform as she approached the bath.
She was extremely nervous, but she persevered. She reached for the bath and soaked for a few minutes before a red light appeared.
"Amelia! Red bird! Potential: Super high. Evolution capability: Can reach Black. Species: Vermillion Bird potential."
After those two, the rest were mostly disappointments. From White to Blue, it was all trash, though a few Green also appeared.
Soon, it was Alex's turn. "Alex, come up."
"Okay, stay cool, stay calm. Just go and soak for a few minutes. No pressure, right?" he muttered as he got into the pool.
The bubbling blood made his skin crawl and he felt a slight pain, but he soon adjusted to it. Minutes ticked by.
Alex was scared. Was he bound to be an ordinary person? Is this the end?
