Family Lore
One day a thief stole a seal from one of the Alquix
families and managed to run away with it. The family spent
two weeks of halted business and production since they
didn't have their seal to authorize and seal important
documents. Even though such an important thing was
stolen from the family, they surprisingly didn't panic, alert
the police or start a search for the thief; they kept an odd
silence as their world was slowly starting to crumble.
However, that period of silence was cut when the
family received a ransom which was to be submitted in the
next 48 hours after they received the message. The ransom
also had several demands that the family had to follow if
they wanted to see their seal in one piece, one being that the
police not be involved in any stage whatsoever.
65
The family happily agreed to the demands and even
offered to have the exchange happen at their estate whereby
the thief would be offered a special gift for keeping the seal
and being kind enough to return it.
When the day finally came for the exchange, the family
kept their end of the bargain by bringing the money, the gift,
and not involving the police. Once the exchange was done,
the thief quickly left with loot in fear for his life because he
had heard a lot of strange stories associated with those
people, however those stories didn't seem to scare him
enough because he stole the seal again that same day.
The residents of Kelsus were shocked with such a turn of
events; the Alquix got played twice by a small-time thief.
When the thief came back a couple of days later with the
same demands the family didn't complain and kept the same
composure as before, but this time the exchange would have
a twist. In order to ensure the thief's safety during the
exchange, the family invited the other Alquix families to
witness the exchange.
Ever since then, no seal has ever been stolen in Kelsus
and to commemorate this event, the family set up a statue in
the middle of town and when asked who the statue was they
said
it was a masterpiece which was meant
66
to be on display to show everyone the generosity of the
Alquix community.
The bleeding statue of wax and stone.
