The soft leaves ruffled quietly, a sense of peace with the refreshing morning air drawing the beginning of the day. The sun had risen a little ago, and with it came the new school year. Students who moved up a year, walking in their new uniforms along their friends; Girls walked with their friends, chattering and glancing around, gossip wasn't unusual, but it was anticipation of what the year had to offer.
In the midst of the many girls walking in the street, 3 faces stood out at the end of the line, two boys, and a girl falling into a step behind them.
The one on the right; Named Aki, was clutching his bag excitedly, a smile on his face. His hair brushed and trimmed by their mother this day, but ruffled through to give it the layering that he always preferred. His red eyes akin to blood, his black hair swishing through the air. He stood at 5'8, slightly slimmer than the other on the left.
**"I can't believe it's the next school year already! Summer vacation was like a poof!"** His words were energetic, his hands moving with his words to show what a poof looked liked.
**"...Can't believe I have to be around girls again."** The one on the left was more pessimistic about it, his eyebrow twitching just at the thought of it. This other boy stood slightly taller than his brother, red hair and amber eyes that seemed to bore to people who glanced at him.
**"Tsk, what're you looking at?"** He said outwardly, not caring.
That caused the girls glancing at him to flinch, looking away quickly.
The boy's name was Rineki, and he was the brother of Aki, well...adoptive brother. They were the same age, and almost different personalities.
Behind them was the quiet girl, observing both of them with a calm judgement, before she kicked the back of Rineki's knee, dropping him suddenly.
**"Ah! What the—"** Before he could talk, the girl walked past him, her eyes squinting at him.
**"Yelling at them will only get you worse looks, Rineki."** The girl's way of speech was calmer, more refined and formal, alrhough she spoke with less formality with her two brothers.
The girl's name is Hana, she is the younger Half-sister of Rineki, and the adoptive sister of Aki. Her hair that was styled in a long braid swished as she turned her head towards Aki, looking at him with a slightly softer look.
**"Don't become like him, he's bad."** She commented bluntly, her way of speech making it her to discern whether she was serious or not.
**"Ahaha....y-yes..."** Aki responded, walking forward with the other two, masking the excitement he had in for today's entrance.
Well...I've been waiting for this...
Last year went alright too, no incidents happened- Aki thought to himself while walking, his expressions masked while the other two chattered.
This world, women dominante the population by a lot.
And they even have higher chances of developing powers than men, essentially, they are dominant in both population and strength. He thought, his eyes moving down to his feet as he walked, step after step.
This caused men to be rarer, and to take on more passive jobs... But even then, there are many awakeners who were men too...! Aki glanced from side to side, a lot of women were around, where men could hardly be noticed, 5 or 6...maybe?
Well, the big difference in numbers also caused men to be chased for most of the time, which is honestly scary! Aki mentally reminded himself, shaking his head as the thought itself was terrifying. Women were scary.
But...next year is when awakeners will be taken into the awakener academy... I wonder if Rineki wants to awaken too... He thought, before realizing what he thought.
N-not like I want to!.....But it would be cool to... He secretly smiled to himself, zoning back in to the conversation of his siblins.
**"I told you, let me know who the girls in your class will be."** Hana told Rineki sharply, her eyes looking sideways at him. **"Can't have something dangerous happen to the two of you."** She added.
**"I don't need to do that, I can take care of them myself."** Rineki retaliated, seemingly not wanting to be babysat by his little sister. **"Just focus on the entrance ceremony, it's your first year of highschool....get some friends goddamnit!"**
Hana walked straight, looking sideways at Rineko before looking forward, as if actually thinking about it. **"Not my cup of tea."** She responded bluntly, crushing the idea.
**"Ahaha..."** Sometiems, Aki really worries about the social life of his siblings.

**"...And remember, hard work will always he rewarded!"** The chairwoman spoke on, her final words echoing in the gym room across the seated students from different years.
Where Aki sat, he paid attention to the speech –although it was quite familiar from last year, until the end. But even as he shifted a little, he could feel the weight on his shoulder.
Rineki, he was sleeping.
Aki smiled, unsure at first, but he poked his brother's forehead. **"Hey, she's done."** He urged him on to wake up, gentle as always.
Sudden, Rineki fixed his posture, wiping the drool off of his mouth. **"S-shit! I slept?"** Rineki whispered back to Aki, not even realizing he had done that. **"Sorry...her words are just copy paste from last year's."** He said, trying to latch on to that as an excuse.
**"Yeah, noticed that."** Aki commented, before glancing to he side, people started to leave for their classes. **"We should probably start leaving too."** Aki said, slowly rising up from his seat, followed by Rineki, in which they met Hana on the way.
**"How was the entrance ceremony?"** Aki asked, hopeful that she enjoyed it.
**"Boring."** Hana responded , short and bland, it was boring, even for her standards.
**"Be careful in class, I'll have to go now."** Hana turned to look at Aki, a small smile tugging at her lips, with a somewhat worried expression.
That is before Rineki appeared, which she returned to her deadpan expression. **"Don't get into trouble, Rineki."** With that, she rushed to the exit with her classmates.
**"Oi! I wasn't gonna get into trouble even if you didn't tell me!"** Rineki yelled at the running Hana, agitated by the difference in treatment, but it had no real venom, just banter at the end.
**"W-well..she is worried about you in the end..."** Aki patted his back, a simpathetic smile to ease him up. **"Our class is about to go! Let's go!"** He switched up, his momentum back up to excitement that was barely held all the way here, he quickly rushed to follow the group of students.
Rineki only spared a sigh, his eyes sharpening.
Aki...
His attitude will get him tangled up with shit.
Tsk.
With that lingering thought, Rineki stepped with his hands in his pockets,his red hair swishing softly at the wind as he left the gym.
